Has anyone else got a T300RS and has issues with the FFB going light during races ?

Not sure if this is and issue with my wheel or a issue with the game.

I have tried changing the strength and sensitivity but it seems at different parts of races and is always ok at the start of the race so I don't think it is an issue with my wheel.

Ive looked on the Thrustmaster website and I need to update my firmware from V24 to V28 but in the patch notes doesn't mention GT at all.

Some times it fine all through qualifying laps and then can go funny on my 2nd lap.

Could it be overheating? The power to the motor is reduced automatically if it gets too hot. Is the fan going flat-out before this happens? It seems like it's happening very quickly though. Normally you'd expect it to happen after a long session with high FFB settings. Maybe a faulty fan.

I have the T300 RS GT and am experiencing the same issue. It’s fine for about 2-3 laps but then after that it feels as if the FFB has been turned down to 1. I usually run at 7, turning it down doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. If I start the day with the FFB at 6, or even 5, it’s only good for about 2-3 laps. I’d hate to have to send it in, but unless there’s a solution it might be my only option.

@ChrisWAFC you can safely update to the v28 firmware, there is the added feature of being able to set the fan to “always on” that might help.

The firmware update allows you to turn fans constant on reducing the tendency for overheating when it then turns the torque down to protect itself.

I only run on strength 4 (sensitivity 10) but never had an issue and sometimes I'll be hotlapping for an hour or so on GTS

I also run low strength and high sensitivity and experience no Fading. I used to have random button press issues everey once in a while. But none since the update.

I have updated and now put the fans on constant so I will see how that goes.

I had strength and sensitivity on 10 so I will try reducing them also.

Thanks.

Ive done a bit of reading and it seem the higher the FFB the hotter the motor runs and then it reduces the power and causes fan.

Seen a couple of fan mods so order 4 x 40mm usb fans and a 4 usb hub so when i get a minute let the modding commence.

At the moment running with top off and that motor soon gets hot and the fan is only a 60mm inside.

Had the same problem with my TX. Replaced it with a TS-XW and no more FFB fade. Not a cost friendly option by any means, but I couldn’t stand the FFB going light after an hour of racing.

Interested to see costs and whether the mod is easy or not. Experienced loss of FFB the other day and it just ruined my session basically

I saw this mod but still only getting cooling from within the wheel and with the design its pulling across the transformer which I’m sure will also get hot.

This video give me the idea but I’m going to put 2 on the motor and 2 the other side blowing into onto the internal fan and I’m thinking will also keep transformer cool.

Good luck, and keep us updated about the result.👍

Heat problem:) remove the whole upside, fix a big fan on the motor and enjoy racing for hours over hours without fading ff :)

I did think of that but I still want it to look good as well haha.

The fans have arrived now so just waiting on the usb hub which has been dispatched.

The sad part is many folks run their wheels like that and have no idea what they are missing out on by doing so .
I don’t know what he meant by clipping.

What am I missing out on having it on high.

I feel you get a better feel if the corner and and how fast you can push it.

Clipping is pushing the signal past the point that the wheel is able to resolve and relay detail. If you are familiar with audio it is the equivalent of distortion. If you are familiar with video the term clipping is the same. If you pump up the contrast of an image the image gets bright , but there is a point where the brightness starts to wash out the detail. Image gets brighter but detail is lost. Same for ffb clipping. Force gets stronger but after a point (the point of clipping) all detail is lost. Many folks thinks a stronger wheel means ffb is working, but past a certain point it's contrary.

Thanks for that to be honest i haven't experience ever dropping off on 10 until the motor goes into cool down.

I finally got everything done but got a little late to try tonight.

See attached photos working through, if anyone interested ill go into more detail and ill try and add a step by step in the sim hardware forum also.

Very impressive! Really smart job

So how are the fans powered? From the wheel unit itself or separate source?

Keen to see whether it works after you’ve tested it (it should work a dream!) then the parts and costs. Nothing worse than the FFB dropping

The 4 fans are USB connected to a powered USB Hub.

The fans where £8 each and the hub was £8 and the extension lead £5 so £45 to do the lot.

Just an idea:
If you turn the fans on the left to blow the air out the five fans blow in one direction and the air will flow in one direction which may improve cooling.
Feel free to ignore this idea if you think it is not worth it.:)

I did think about that but I thought by blowing from both sides it’s more cooling for the unit and the hot air will rise through the vents.
