Overview (How Does This Work?):
  • You must be part of our registry to participate.
  • These are Time Trial Events, we have Online Races here.
  • Set the game up according to the event, car and track details below.
  • Save Your BEST LAP replay before exiting your session.
  • Be sure and run cleanly to the end of the first sector after setting your fast lap. If you exit right away, your time stamp may not show up in your replay.
  • Report your split times in here, so you can compare your pace to other racers, without revealing the full lap time. (Note: this is required if participating)
  • Our leaderboard shows how you stack up during the week, before the deadline.
  • Submit your lap via PM to our Fetchbot, before the event deadline.
  • On deadline day, we will publish the results in our leaderboard and in a thread in this section.
  • Identified replays will be checked by your fellow participants to be sure you meet the event regulations.

Standard Clean OLR Rules (These Apply to ALL Events):
  • The event MUST be run using your registered PSN account.
  • The use of the clutch is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
  • No Contact with walls or other objects. Any contact with walls, no matter how minor, will result in a DQ.
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times (See image below).
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible.
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty.

Race Specifics (Rules for This Specific Event):
  • Red and White Rumble Strips and Tarmac are Track Surface. No other surfaces are track.
  • Tarmac painted red or blue between white lines is track.

Steward's Comments:
The McLaren F1 is a legendary triumph, and this particular car took overall victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans. @Mr P was testing with us in a lobby one night and guided us in the direction of this combo. The car has a ton of grip on RM tires, and I am sure you will enjoy it. Hint in the chicane, it's less crashy if you coast. ;)

Saving Replays, Viewing sector times and Submissions:
  • You need to make sure you use the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below).
  • Before saving your replay ensure that you continue running after completing your fast lap until at least the end of first sector. This will ensure you have a complete replay.
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Library' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replays' option.
  • While viewing your Replay, enter the live timing screen to view your sector splits. You will need to do this after your car has passed the sector markers to see it listed.
  • Simply post the splits that are shown in the live timing screen, and our Fetchbot will parse them and add them together for your total sector time.
  • When saving your fastest lap replay please ensure that you watch the replay to the end and that it displays your full lap time. Any replays submitted that do not show the posted lap time will result in a DQ.
  • Remember - When you submit your time you're also declaring that your run is 100% clean. We request replays for the purpose of verifying to all those concerned that the drivers claim is correct, which in turn safeguards the integrity of the driver, and just as importantly, the WRS. The golden rule is to check your replay before submission. If you’re still unsure, check it again, ask for a second opinion and if you’re still undecided, run the lap again.

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 135 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):
  • Please submit your FULL LAP TIME in the following format on a single line:
    X:XX.XXX
    (Example-) 1:10.100

  • For those of you who were used to submitting replays on GT6, you no longer have the ability to export the files.
  • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.

  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week 135 Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week just reply to the conversation with your new time. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • The deadline is Monday, June 29th 2020 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site.
Why Use GMT?:
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Division winners and overperformers will be required to submit a replay via the GT Sport Share function for verification AFTER Unofficial Results have been posted.
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Replay Verify Required).
  • Video/Youtube/Twitch replays are not accepted as a form of verification.

Meesa so happy to be seeing this, meethinks. 👍👍
VERY nice combo this week, I like this reverse version of the track as it's more technical than the other way round. Reminds me of Trial Mountain and Grand Valley in the old-school games. (miss those tracks very much, and the long New York track too.)
Meesa just got one question-

This is the McLaren F1 GTR - BMW (KOKUSAI KAIHATSU) UK RACING 1995 that we are to use?
Just my game states it is Mid Rear, not 4WD. so has no torque splitting available.

My anally retentive o.c.d. is kicking in, forcing me to check, that's all

Just a copy error. Yes, McLaren F1 GTR - BMW (KOKUSAI KAIHATSU) UK RACING 1995 is correct.

Thought so, just checking.

Yeah need to attack kerbs.

Those are quick splits man!!!

I'm not riding the rumbles yet, especially in the twisties, running smooth lines and smooth handling. Still got TCS set to 1, and BB to -1. But it's first run of many, so loads more time to find.

When we were testing this online on Saturday, I ended up settling with BB 0. Negative made the car understeer unbearably, and positive made it twitchy.

The rumbles are an acquired taste, if you straddle them just right, they pull the car around the corners. But it's quite the dance. That downhill chicane, the best hope is to coast the center section of it if you want to cut. Any pedal input and the car WILL loop.

23.667
25.765
17.037

BB @ 0
TCS @ 2

Love the way this thing washes in and out of understeer/oversteer as you go round a long corner right on the limit of adhesion, and still goes round the corner. Lets you know right where the limit is, just before you cross it and completely wipe out.
Neil

*edit*
Now running with TCS back @ 1

Thanks man. It'll do till someone faster comes along (there's always bigger fish )

I found being in a higher gear (4th for the S bend in Sector 1 and the downhill S in sector 2, 6th for the downhill S Sector 4) aided in stability when going over bumps. But that means you'll have to carry speed on entry otherwise you'll bog down on exit.

BB 0 as well.

Well... i tried it.

That's all I can say.

That, and I can consistently spin the piss out of this thing, but only because I'm pushing way to hard. I've made it to T3 twice.. looking at my t1 split gets me every time

Here's my Sector 1 video, hopefully can help out get the ideal line to take through the first two turns.

These principles can be applied to the whole lap. Each lap is essentially 4 U-shaped turns and 3 S-curves.

For the U-shaped turns you want to go a bit deep to be able to get a late apex, but not so deep where you end up sightseeing.

For the S-curves, needs to be straight-lined as much as possible, which means getting friendly with the kerbs. You want to minimize any change in inputs while travelling over the kerbs, so try to line it up as much as possible before you get on the kerb.

Thanks for the advice.
Been taking turn 1 in 4th but now down to 3rd gear and slowly getting turn in right for 1st chicane.

23.225
25.458
16.795

It’s so bloody hot, why am I stupid enough to be driving?

22.625
24.870
16.874

BB +3

3rd sector is really not coming together for me. I really need to figure that out, it’s killing my time.

Nice splits man, out of my reach.

Sector 3 - Brake and turn in at 50 M board. Light pressure and trail braking into the corner. Trick is to stay narrow all the way through (but not so narrow that you can't get that late apex). Once you have that down, pick a visual market to floor it on the exit (have to pick some marker since the corner exit is blind, I use that raised flag marshal post on the left side).
