When I go to reboot or respring I get all worried that it will get stuck or something will go wrong and I will have to restore in iTunes, what is the chance of this ever happening and should I really be worried when I respring or reboot.

I know this is a n00b question and I am not a n00b jailbreaker but it is just a consern.

Thanks for your time!

Jakob.

Yeah G'day Jacob, I've jailbroken my iPhone 3GS, was going to tell you the pros and cons, but since you aren't a 'n00b' I'll skip to my reliability experiences.

Depending on what you're using on the device, it varies, when I first jailbroke the phone, without the Corona add-on that unlocked the ability to reboot untethered, I recall having to start my phone again all the time, based on the later iOS 4 software, however with corona on iOS 5.0.1, it rarely restarts (mostly when using the GPS on low battery), and when it does, its all good, it even remembers what programs are running, and more importantly what data and programs you had on the device before it restarted, the restart normally only takes 1-2 minutes max.

As you know Apple make good reliable products, but their software leaves much to be desired, so while being unable to upgrade to iOS 5.1 yet, 5.0.1 is fairly reliable by jailbroken software standards, and I wouldn't be too worried about losing data, but again, at you're own risk.

Thank you very much, I just did a LONG report on jailbreaking for school so I know almost every pro and con out there, my iPod touch is a 4th gen jailbroken with redsn0w and is running 5.0.1, I don't think I am ever going to update to 5.1 lol,

I have a gtp social group called GTP_JAILBREAK if you wanted to join, there arnt that meny people in it and you were helpful.

THANK YOU!

Wait, you did a huge research paper on it and know almost every pro and con?

But you don't understand freeze risks on reboot/reload?

What?

NO NO NO, it is just a little fear I have.

I have had my ipod touch jailbroken for about a month and the fear of freezes and bugs are going away, I just don't want to restore that's all so I am just a bit cautious about things, I don't go respringing all crazy like lol

EDIT: Fear gone ha-ha

So your afraid and you want people here to tell you its okay it won't happen to you? If you know every pro and can you know it's rare but does happen. If your afraid then restore it and be happy with your ipod touch and apps you actually paid for.

I've had a jailbroken ipod touch for 2 years and never had an issue... But you'd know that's possible you did a big report.

On 5.1 semi-tethed jailbreak (what I'm on now) DO NOT CHANGE your font because if you reboot you WILL go in a respring loop. Hope I helped too!

I have jailbroken many different Ipods/pads, for my family and friends. I have never ever had any problem with even looking like it is going to brick the device, if you follow the instructions then the programs are written very well and won't cause any errors if used correctly.

Mentioning about bricking the iDivices you CAN'T brick them because I almost bricked my iPod 2 on 4.2.1 untethed (yes I know I said I have a iPod 4 too) but fixed it by putting it in dfu mode.

I've been jailbroken 4.3.1 and have never had an issue with rebooting or respringing forcing me to restore the phone.

Shouldn't a respring loop trigger the device to boot into safe mode?

Apps like BytaFont I don't think support safe mode because like I said once I got stuck in a respring loop.
