A little question about hybriding .....

Let's not go here yet, please, it's very tempting, but lets get the full fleshed out game first (not in regards that kaz is gonna give us engine swaps, drivetrain, omega alpha possibilities in future) but please give the game a chance before Zorg and the masters of black magic start dabbling. 
Online is a bit broken anyway, we don't have the community tools yet and it might cause disturbances in the force as it did in GT5.
I didn't make any hybrids in 5 but appreciated some of the epic creations made by GTPlaneteers, and real replicas, unlock unpaintables etc. PD even took the spoiler removal on board.
There's pros and cons, people felt it ruined some online lobbies, seasonal TT's until fix etc, and there was a bit of a fallout from PD's reaction to it. It split the forum slightly at the time.
I hope, at least for a while, the guys looking at the save/game code let the game play out a little and allow PD to release the content and polish as much as possible.
Then let the perfect chassis wheelbase hunt commence....

I voted NO for the lone reason that with hybridding comes cheating in the online Seasonal events. Those events become a cheatfest (in GT5) and thus eliminating the fun and competition factor for me. Although I did enjoy hybridding in GT5, the fact that it came towards the end of the games lifespan and with GT6 on the horizon kind of lessoned the negative effects that hybridding brings with it for me. I take the same stance here with GT6. The game is still too new and with too many promised features to be added to allow hybridding. Let hybridding take place just as it did in GT5, towards the end of the game with GT7 about ready to come out.

Based on our experience with GT5 we already know that PD can write code to identify hybrids, that's how they got rid of them. But if the hybriding is from PD, that is they begin to allow engine/drivetrain/chassis swaps through the game engine, then all they need to do is put a hybrid yes/no button in online lobbies and it's problem solved.
Would it sell more copies of the game? Yes.
Would it keep interest high since so many people could come up with such a cool collection of cars? Yes.
Will it tick off the purists? Yes (as you've already seen here).
Thing is, it's not a "hack" or a "hybrid", you guys are looking at this wrong. In GT5, somebody figured out how to unlock what was already built into the game, and PD locked it back down. Apparently, GT6 has a similar flaw, but much harder to make realistic like it was in GT5.
My GT5 was never updated, so I still have all my hybrids. And when I want to go back to actually having fun with the Gran Turismo series, guess what I play? Hmm....
BTW, a "drivetrain swap" is when you make a FWD car a RWD car, or you put the Mazda 787B engine in an RX7 (which is still one of my favorite "hybrids" I own).

What are chassis and drivetrain swaps
Like what @NOSaholic said, drivetrain swaps allow you to convert a car's drivetrain. You can make a FWD car AWD, or any other drivetrain (FR, MR, RWD, FWD, AWD).
Chassis swaps are exactly as they sound. You can take the chassis from one car, and out it on another. It's a bit unrealistic, but it can make cars look great.
If you've ever seen those "dune buggy" cars as some of us call them, they are normal cars with a Red Bull X-Prototype chassis replacing the original.

No. Anyone who is in possession of a hybridized vehicle is simply in possession of a hybridized vehicle and nothing more.
Which is what, report them? Rebel.
If by "allow" you mean it's actually a key element of the in-game upgrade structure, then yes, Forza allows stuff like this.

Really? For the sake of argument I will use your little word, "hybrid", in place of hacked, which is much more accurate.
Ok - No one can give anyone a hybrid car. No one can buy a hybrid car. The only way for you to have a hybrid car is for you to hyb your game save and create one.
Is that better?
Hackers are hackers and are violating the TOS agreement that they agreed to when they installed the game.
I am sorry for reporting this thread, I guess I was mistaken in my belief that the GTPlanet staff had decided to take a stand against hacking. (Oops hybriding) as all of the hacking threads in
GT6 had been quickly dispatched.

No, it really isn't more accurate.
A "much more accurate" denotation would actually be that of an exploiter, considering those who indulge are participating through means of a program someone else created.
Considering the latter permits the possibility of the former two? Quite.
I don't think anyone has ever claimed otherwise, except under a specific set of circumstances.
Here's the part that no one really seems to understand: unless the thread in question is blatantly showcasing a tutorial/how-to, then it isn't our responsibility to police the already rampant widespread news that hybrding is possible in GT6. Now, naturally, there are those of us that will remove the threads, whether it be for personal or reasons related to forum decor.
However, on the whole, that burden falls on Sony.

Yes, that's true, the reason being that all 'discussions' so far quickly turn into pissing contests between key protagonists from both camps, not because we are censoring the subject.
Also true but this falls into a grey area because it asks whether it should be allowed and the OP is specific about the possibility in GT6. You didn't report it for that reason, however, you reported it because you want discussion about it stopped. I suggest if you disagree with the concept that strongly, take your opinion to Sony Entertainment. We will continue to allow discussion as long as it remains civil and follows our AUP. If specific individuals become too heated or break the AUP, they will receive the appropriate warnings no matter which side of the fence they are on.

And while they're at it they can add an option for it in the tuning menu, so everyone can use it.
(As for online lobbies, more options in general to restrict the cars that are allowed would be great. The game keeps track of a lot of different variables (engine displacement, production year, brand country etc), it would be nice to be able to use the power of that to tailor the lobbies exactly to what you want it to be.)

Hybriding should be allowed, but it won't be, but it will eventually happen anyway. The only problem I see with the whole hybriding thing, is people try to take advantage online with it, rather than use it as a novelty offline.
Also from PD's perspective it hurts their ability to earn more money with micro-transactions, which I think is a travesty in the gaming world nowadays. As if the systems and games weren't expensive enough, it allows gaming companies to sell an inferior game, and tweak it along the way, charging more and more for additional content that in many cases should have been included in the first place. (sorry for the tangent, I could go on for pages with my dislike of this practice.)

If by "hybriding" you're simply trying to sanitize what would otherwise be called "hacking" and "violating the ToS", nope, can't agree with you. It results in unfair competition, as the hackers decide they can sneak their tricks into competitions.

Hybriding? NO. It is very difficult to enjoy a game where the playing field is so different between users, keeping the game fair and also relevant is a must in order to satisfy the most people out there. People already complain about users having wheels vs users not having wheels I can't begin to imagine what fiasco hacking would bring on.

I would be in favour of hybrids in the game if and only if rooms online would be segregated. Hybrids can only play with other hybrids, so you don't have clowns using it purely as trolling equipment against people who want to play the game without mods
