Alternate Evo V Rally Car?

There is a 2nd version of the Evo V Rally Car besides the one from the dealer that's supposedly modeled after one of Yamauchi's personal rides. I can't seem to be able to locate it, how can it be obtained in the game?

That's because it doens't exist.

Try modding a Evo V GSR/RS from the used lot, and see what you get.

No, actually it DOES exist.
I can attest to that, as I have seen it.
If anyone has a DexDrive for the PS1 (I did), and they visited one of the sites that had saves for them, there was a Mitsubishi-only save file that had TWO versions of the Evo V Rally car. One with the usual white-and-red scheme, the other with a white streak on a red basecoat.

What about the Tommi Makinen Evo VI in the Tahiti Maze video in the main menu? I've never been able to find it, which was a shame because I wanted to have all the (then) current rally cars and had to put up with the 'stripey' Evo V instead.

Or is it a bonus car from getting straight golds in Licence tests? Because if it is, I won't be getting it any time soon ... :dunce:

Basically, there's the "Special" Mitsu Evo V Rally Car, and a body-only rally car that looks slightly different. The later is the body of the car which you can find in the rally portion of the Arcade Disc. You have to make a hybrid out of the body, and attach it to another car.

So it's not a hidden "mad-pimped-out-tight-hidden-ride-by-Polyphony" car as much as a hidden body, which isn't anything but an image you place over another car.

All the stats are exactly the same as the white Evo V Rally from the dealer but, It's red and has what looks like a stylized "WMNSM" logo in white on the side.

man if i still had mine i could show you guyz. i seriously know what hes talking about. i lost all my cars on the glitch, so you "borrowed" my cousins file and he too had the car, but he didnt like it, so he sold . thats what he told me when i raced him with it

It's identicle to the Evo V Rally Car in the dealer except its painted red with "Winfield" in white letters and a big number 1 on the doors. There's a photo on page 87 of the April 2001 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.

The Evo V Rally Car does not appear on the Arcade Disc even with all cars unlocked. I believe you're thinking of the Evo IV Rally Car from the Arcade Disc which looks similar to the Race Modded Evo IV on the Sim Disc.

Ah...the one the that used to be on Fiery's GT2 site! Now I remember!

I never could dig up that body-mod...but I recall it was actually an Evo VI, but with different writing. My guiess is that it's supposed to say "Marlboro" on the car, but of course, Sony/PD removed all the cigarette ads, but they could have missed "Winfield", which is another brand of tabacco. Maybe the truth sprouted up later, and it got the axe, like about 50 extra bodies in GT2.

Almost forgot about that one, although I doubt it was modelled after PD designer's personal ride.

EGM insinuates that it's his car by showing the picture and claiming he drives a Lancer Evo V. He is quoted saying that he tries to turn laps on a track as often as possible to keep his driving skills sharp. The "Winfield" is illegible on the game version of the car which is a complete car and can be purchased using the Toyota Dealer code with a Game Shark. The only thing is that it does not appear on anyones list of Prize Cars or list of Hidden cars either. If it's not a hidden car or a body-only car, where does it come from?

Okay, but from RogsR34UK I get this from the Mitsubishi section:

In red I'm posting the hidden "Evo Rally Car body-only" codes.

Notice that the two cars you previously highlighted have a "B" identifying them as "Body Only" cars while the two Evo V Rally Cars highlighted now, have nothing identifying them. The one Rally Car (B19C 170C) is available in the dealer as a Special Model and most likely replaced the other "Winfield" version (119C 170E). This car seems to have been overlooked as a "Hidden Car" all this time and should have an "H" identifying it. In any case there are clearly two different Evo V Rally Cars that are not "Body Only".

I'll have to dust off the GT2 "playbook" and PSX and give that a try when I get a chance.

Missed that all this time...
