I got an email from a Nigerian prince. :P

You never claimed your winnings, you know.
It's only been 20 years. Think there's still time?
Wow, are you serious, TB. What did he say?
Dear Sir:

I have been requested by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for oil exploration in the sub-Sahara region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$40,000,000. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company is desirous of oil exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

You assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assist the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. If the funds can be transferred to your name, in your United States account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company would agree to allow you to retain 10%, or US$4 million of this amount.

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must presently be a depositor of at least US$100,000 in a Nigerian bank which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Lagos, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, as well as with certain officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Please call me at your earliest convenience at 18-467-4975. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Nigerian Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.

Yours truly,

Prince Alyusi Islassis

Bold of them to assume you just have 100k to spare.
Other than that, sounds pretty legit!

I don't see what everyone is worried about! You still have access to bleach and cleaning solutions for fish tanks!

Based on all of the exceptions, you might end up qualifying.

It's not really a vaccine ban as much as the FDA looking at the vaccine more closely and realigning its policy. The media is presenting it as a ban, but really, roughly two-thirds of the country will be eligible to get the vaccine. Being obese allows you to get it, and well, you've seen Americans—we're hefty. Even then, all a doctor needs to say is, "That person needs it."

COVID isn't like Influenza and we're still not entirely sure if everyone needs a yearly vaccine or not. The COVID vaccine has also made more people anti-vaxx who wouldn't usually have been in the first place. This is leading to people shunning the MMR vaccine, among others. So, by reducing the reliance on the COVID vaccine, it might help alleviate the questions surrounding other vaccines that we know pretty much everything about.

The uptake on COVID boosters is incredibly small too and we're managing not to have another full-blown pandemic. It's something like less than 25% of adults getting the boosters (I don't know the actual number off hand). The flu shot is about double that number.

Don't get me wrong, COVID is still very much a thing and is still deadly. But the mutations have made it less deadly and it's not nearly as taxing on our medical system as it was a few years ago. I still do believe the people with certain conditions would be stupid not to get the vaccine, but the evidence is showing that everyone might not need to get it, or they might not need to get it every winter. We also need to consider that pharmaceutical companies are continuing to push that you need the vaccine yearly, which from a pure profit perspective makes sense. Why would you not want to sell something to someone year after year? Especially now that COVID vaccines are expensive. Granted, I'm not sure how much I trust the FDA or CDC either. It's probably best to see more third party studies, although that might be difficult to find.

Here's the article from the New England Journal of Medicine about it:

So that's France, the UK, Australia, Canada and Romania all binning their hard right candidates. Who'd've thought?
We did? The lot who got voted out were mostly bog-standard right (except Truss but she was a “special” case), they just adopted some of the hardline rhetoric.

The real hard-right are currently leading the opinion polls. For a second time in a generation this country could do something monumentally stupid and harmful.

I was referring to Farage's lot. For all the talk of how he was a king-in-waiting he didn't do very well in the elections last time.

Some of those other guys led the opinion polls too.

That's a strange side effect. Reminds me of Roseanne Barr's claim that it was her sleeping pills that made her a racist.

There's a perceived distrust in the COVID-19 vaccine, which has made people distrust other vaccines. They think that because the government may or may not be wrong about the COVID-19 vaccine, they may or may not be wrong about other vaccines. The average person doesn't know anything about vaccines and vaccine schedules, so I can see why this happens. Mix in biased media and morons yelling on TikTok and you amplify the problem.

I definitely trust the researchers and the scientists who were, from my understanding, already working on a similar vaccine when they quickly pivoted to Covid.

Welp...(from March)
...we've got another one.
Now I'm not saying that every Republican seeking recognition of criticism of their pedophile bitch king as mental illness is a child sexual predator, but certainly no fewer than 50% of them are, and that's not mere statistical noise.

Trump campaigned on removing the cap on SALT* deductions which he signed into law during his first term.

Now he's telling people who simply want to raise the cap to get out of the way of his big bad bill.

He lied about SALT, got the votes, now reneges. And so it goes on...

*SALT is the commonly used term for the deduction of State And Local Taxes from Federal taxes which was in force for many decades since people didn't want to be taxed twice on the same dollars.

This overlaps with Milhouse tinkering with Twitter's AI but Trump has also brought up white farmer genocide and white persecution in a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that was filmed and televised. Musk was actually there in the audience as Trump made explicit reference to his crusade about it and singled him out.

What are the chances that Twitter's chatbot was deliberately modified to extensively and unnecessarily mention "white genocide" in South Africa so soon before South Africa's President visited the US?

What are the chances that this specific 'story' was brought up in said meeting with Musk in attendance?

The House has passed Trump's bill which is mostly about cutting taxes, plus reducing spending on pesky stuff like "health" and "clean energy".

Trump was touted as "a businessman" and, as every businessman knows, the way to success is by reducing revenue and hurting people. 🤔

Maybe this is how he bankrupted multiple casinos?

They want to reduce the deficit and then proceed to increase the deficit. Turns out they either don't know what they are doing or they are lying (or both!).

It seems that despite Trump's exposure spanning multiple decades people still haven't quite understood that Trump is rich because his father became rich and his own business dealings are nothing but a chain of bankruptcies where he conned out the money in some way. He's a fraud, a big effing fraud and the people voting for him are all idiots for believing even an ounce of anything he says. In turn, we have to pay because they are effing stupid idiots... I hope as many Trump voters go bankrupt as possible, lose their jobs, lose their homes and realize that they won't get anything from Social Security, they won't get any healthcare etc. They should suffer as much as possible because otherwise they will never ever understand. Probably, they won't ever anyway because they're idiots in the first place but c'est la vie...

Trump vs. Harvard is getting interesting!
Trump vs. America is getting interesting. 😔

PS. A small point maybe, but there's a flat $250 annual tax on EVs for highways in Trump's "tax-cutting bill" which is quadruple what I used to pay when I had an ICE SUV. Last time Trump did a "tax cut" it increased taxes for residents living in responsible (blue) states, so I shouldn't be surprised that he lied again I guess.

SCOTUS blocked Trump from deporting people under the 1798 Alien Enemies act last week and he's not pleased. Using his vast knowledge of Constitutional law he's declared the Supreme Court of breaking the law themselves:

They half-assedly tossed aside his legal proof of citizenship and couldn't be asked to confirm it was indeed real. That's lazy quota filling at best.

Though it's more likely that they would have known he was a legal citizen before even approaching him. These are turds acting outside of the law because they know they'll never be held accountable. I hate essentialism, but at this point I suspect that 20-30% of any given human population are just naturally inclined to be authoritarians and that number can go up or down a bit with propaganda. ICE agents are a job that just appeals to this pool of them. The "Trump won I do what I want." attitude is 100% rife in these agencies.

This tracks. Remember that exchange with the Governor of Maine over the ban of trans athletes from competing in female sports? He clearly states that "we are the federal law". Trump thinks that the White House Administration make the law, so if SCOTUS want to block him, that is clearly illegal as far as he's concerned because he is the law.

Chump thinks the US is an autocracy and gets major butt-hurt when people remind him that it isn't (yet).
