I think i'm going to be pushing out an update for my Sergio Loro's Watkins Glen skin soon. Need to do some comparisons between old and new to make sure I like it. Tried to find a mix between it looking like real life (more colorful and saturated) and looking sort of faded\vintage. The old skin was a little too blue\vintage looking for my liking, especially the grass. Also want to replace one of the tree textures I was never happy with. Got my eye on one that may work from an @RMi_wood track.

I think this shows why Assetto Corsa has remained so popular for so long is simply that it is so many things for so many people, not just a racing game. Modding for some, creating for some, tracks or cars, physics for those that are interested in that aspect and awesome photography pics for the shutterbugs. The one thing we all share is an enthusiasm for motorsport and this game allows us to explore those interests and combine them with the opportunity most of us could only fantasize about actually doing.

Always coming in with the sensible replies Kurt. This is exactly what I love about AC and all the mods. It's so many thing to so many people. I don't get why people moan that some want to just enjoy the way the game can look and want to just show off their photo skills. IMO that is the same as going to a car show and taking photos of cars they will never own but want to appreciate anyway.
I also don't get the need to have every available mod and then to moan about it because someone spent time making it look good but not drive well because they are only interested in how good it looks.
I love how diversive the community is and wish people would stop bloody moaning about every aspect of it and just enjoy it for how they enjoy it (I'm generalising here and not directing this at you of course)

Welcome to the new modding standard, where giving community a fully detailed engine bay is more important than proper physics. Because taking photos is importanter than actually racing!

that is partially but most of the part true. engine bays get alot of attention theses days while those people have problems putting ao onto cars. hell even ao is a feature nowadays. a street car isnt done without android system aswell it seems. but there 3 parts that get a good mod together, 3d, sounds and physics. and i guess there isnt an ultra guy managing all of it so mostly you need help to achieve all 3 parts in good fashion. maybe the community sees the day where a basic pipeline standart isnt a feature anymore.

great update but cars are not starting correct in a race from a standing start on the Silverstone track .They are slow and move to the right. Any ideas please.

Hey there folks, I was wondering if you could help me with a problem which can be summed up by the below image:

I'm looking at two Ford Escort RS Cosworth mods.

I was hoping anybody with experience could tell me which is better.

They're both clearly based on the same 3D model, and I wouldn't be surprised if the second one is based on the first one. The second one looks slightly nicer than the first one, and also for some reason offers two versions with different stated horsepower (216 and 223... both of which are wrong; it had 224). However, they at least get the weight correct: the 'Lux' version is slightly heavier because it had electric windows and A/C. Exciting stuff.

So let me know what you think.

Absolutely. AC is way beyond Kunos's original vision now, and has been for some time. It's what gives it legs. It's evolved over time into a big sandbox with all manner of tracks and vehicles available, and new mods coming every day.
At the moment though it seems like it's perhaps a victim of its own success, which can lead to a pretty chaotic existence. So perhaps it would be good if (for example) a car mod that's been built mainly for photographing was labelled or tagged as such, so people who actually still prefer driving the cars can give it a wide berth. Novelty cars and tracks are usually overtly quirky and quite easy to avoid, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, but ends up quacking like a frog then it's harder to filter before the fact. Drift cars are usually labelled as such and easy to avoid (if they aren't your thing) but a lot of undriveable cars are hiding in plain sight: they look fantastic inside and out but take them to the track and it's only then apparent that they're intended as photo mules and little else, and only designed to be driven to where the sunset looks nice. I guess it would take big balls for a modder to admit their car isn't really meant to be driven though.

I have never downloaded, the boatmobile, any of the buses, the motorbike, the crock on wheels, the plane, the cars from CARS the film....
I have just about got my head around the fact that some people enjoy that stuff in AC, but its not for me so guess what, i don't download it...

Further to that pure skydome is totally about pictures IMO, all the guff in CSP that is there like hay bales that burn etc. Its all, if you let it got a bit stupid, but people should just avoid it, if they don't like it.
Or, and i hate to say it again, learn to do stuff yourself then you never need relay on waiting for stuff to be done.

Some people just want the validation that how they play AC is the right way or the best way.

Again this problem (when opening everything from GTr2) I don't know what is happening.

I reinstalled the entire "3dsimed" program again... and the problem persists (last week I used everything normally, something similar had happened, but then I solved it).

Now everything again, you can see in the prints, even selecting any part of the car, this "crazy doll" appears... lol

I think they really are the same model, both have the same tris count and lack the same basic features (lods and cockpit hr)

but

the 2nd one (the one with the lux edition) does have ao maps for the exterior and interior at the very least, compared to the velo one. Physics wise they seem pretty comparable (tyres are kinda different) but didn't bother actually trying it out

you are not loading it properly and likely need to edit .car or .cas for proper path

Yeah i'd be good with people labelling their mods as to their intended purpose but as you said, i'm not sure modders/converters would be good with that because then i doubt half the people would even download their mods (no biggie imo tho)
What always makes me laugh is when you have a mod that looks great but drives like someone has based it on a fisher price car but everyone on facebook is spanking themselves silly over how good it drives. I sometimes wonder if a lot of those people have ever driven a car or know what one feels like to actually drive. Luckily for me if there's something I feel looks decent but drives like crap I can pass it along to someone who works wonders on the physics and makes it into something that drives as well as it looks.

which was grabbed from Race07 or RF. Pretty sure it is Race07 as the author of the original mod has been quote vocal (rightfully so) of its unauthorized conversions.

Most obvious are drifters who almost work entirely separate from AC as many know it.

I think that is the best way now.

Still the same problem, it just loads this "crazy doll", I don't know where I changed something, it's just in gtr2.

Until last week, with 3dsimed open:
I did the following steps.

• import, selected the ".car" file according to the right column it opened (the file types, for rfactor, gtr2, gmt, scn...etc...)
• when I opened the 3dsimed (the car appeared complete, full of shadows), etc...

-I selected the part I wanted, and I selected it without any problems. us from the rfactor ( as it is .gmt )...

I select ( and only the parts I want ). I've tried everything in the last few hours, last week just reinstalling I managed to get it back to normal, now not anymore.

yeah that's true, i forget about keyboard and controller users (I was one of those once lol) and i'm quite sure some of those mods feel worse or better depending on hardware and driving setup etc. but there are times when I feel that the FB crowd are driving a completely different car to me and praising something that shouldn't be getting praise. I've learnt that when it comes to physics there's a lot of simple things that are often overlooked that if changed make a crap handling car into one that is way better to drive but the same mistake is made every time from certain modders and i wonder if it's just laziness or stubboness!
And yeah of course a bad mod is subjective when it comes to it. What I consider bad may be different to what you consider bad, altho I agree that buses and batmobiles are "bad" mods to me. But some people like that stuff so I won't moan about it or post up how pointless they are. After all we all have a choice to ignore stuff and move past it instead of writing a forum post about how crap it is.

IMO.

There are reams of subjectively bad mods (down to the user's own likes or prejudices) but there are also far too many objectively bad mods where the faults can't be argued down as personal preference. Things like opaque windscreens, flipped mirrors, sunken tyres etc etc are just bad modding... or even worse: lazy modding where the modder has the skills and could fix what's broken but chooses not to.

I have never seen the original track in any sim. Maybe F1 challenge had one but that should be really old.

It is very badly optimised. Its ripped from another game. It basically needs condensed and some tlc.

So pretty much everything from my Data folder in Content Manager just disappeared without a trace. brand badges, country flags, origin icons, you name it. Does anyone know what happened and how I can fix this?
