Motorsport Team Principals [MTP]

99WGpmQ.png

In short, whenever I do B-Spec events you'll need to be signed up with MTP. Money you earn, drivers you sign, engineers you hire etc will carry over from season to season, and race to race. My goal is to run Formula B-Spec every now and then (twice a year at most) along with some single races (4-5 a year at most) But the team you build up at MTP will give you an advantage in any events I run. Its just an extra layer of strategy.

And I'm launching this a couple of days early because I'll be out of town for the weekend. Didnt want to launch it Friday then be unavailable the first few days its up.

A couple of years ago nascarfan1400 brought offline/b-spec racing to gtplanet in a new way. Thanks to his pioneer spirit many such leagues have sprung up in his wake and we're all thankful to him for that. In time others like YayoiGT2 have taken B-Spec to the next level, and I feel if I dont do my best to rise with him and those like him then I no longer should be part of the game.

The goal of this new B-Spec series I've made is to attempt to realize what I feel B-Spec should be in Gran Turismo - and sadly may never be - a full on Team Principal simulation, not a casual button smashing half hearted addon like what you have in GT6. If Madden and Fifa can have deep simulation modes that allow you to manage teams, why not racing games? The goal in MTP is to build a team better then the others, and to dominate the competition through on the track success as well as accumulated wealth and prestige. A team can accomplish this through four major aspects of a motor race that will be represented in MTP.

You can now hire drivers to race for your team permanently for a one time fee. The faster a driver, the faster your car goes. However some drivers can be overly aggressive resulting in excessive contact and damage to the car, while others may be too passive and unwillingly to make difficult passes. Signing the correct driver for your team's needs can be a difficult process. Note that a percentage of race drivers randomly retire after each "season".

For a one time fee you can hire engineers permanently for your race team. Each engineer's skill set differs from one to the other. One engineer may boost your team's proficiency in engine development to a great degree, but do little to nothing in terms of helping your team finish their pit stops faster.

Take interest in the stats of each engineer and make selections based on your goals as a team. Do you want to always have the best engine program in any racing series you participate in? Then focus on hiring engineers who are strong at developing engines. Do you want your team to always have the fastest pitstops? Then focus on hiring engineers who excel at pitstops. Engineers are permanent additions to your team and do not retire unless you ask them to be removed form your team.

New to B-Spec events? B-Spec is a racing league where the AI drives the cars and you manage the team. You paint the cars, choose the car's setup, hire staff, etc.

1. Drivers
Until now drivers have been missing from B-Spec events that I have ran, instead all the focus was on the machinery itself, with each car being assigned a number instead of a driver's name. After the success of the GRL its obvious drivers are important to have in a B-Spec series. Drivers can be hired permanently to a team, but at a cost. Naturally the more skilled the driver, the higher the asking price. No matter the skill of a driver there will be a racing series for him to push his talents to the limit and compete for race wins.

[SPD] Speed
How fast a driver is. The difference between a driver with 95 speed vs a driver with one speed unit less (94 speed) is about 5 hundredths (0.050) per lap.

[AGR] Aggression
How aggressive a driver is. Being aggressive helps a driver attempt more passes, but he also puts the car in harm's way more.

[Driver Speed Ratings]
90-100 - Platinum
80-89 - Gold
65-79 - Silver
50-64 - Bronze
01-49 - Gentleman Driver

Races and championships have rules on which drivers are allowed to compete based on these ratings

You may release a driver and return him to the free agent market and receive 50% back in what you paid for him.

At the moment, you are only allowed to hire one driver

2. Engineers

Employees of your team who specialize in 3 areas. Engines, Chassis, and Pit stops. If you want a strong engine program, hire engineers who have a high [ENG] rating. If you want the fastest pit crew, select engineers with a high [PIT] rating. If you want a car that corners better, select engineers with a high [CHS] rating.

[ENG] Engine
How much an engineer contributes to the performance of your team's engines. Depending on the Championship or race, this may range from horsepower, fuel mileage, to reliability.

[CHS] Chassis
How much an engineer contributes to the cornering capability of your car

[PIT] Pit Stops
How much an engineer contributes to the speed of your pit crew

The higher your total score for each category, the better your team will perform against the competition. There is no limit to the amount of engineers you can hire.

3. Technical Advantage

For Formula B-Spec Season 3
[CHS]
400 = -2.5kgs
600 = -2.5kgs
800 = -2.5kgs
1000 = -2.5kgs

[ENG]
400 = +7 horsepower
600 = +7 horsepower
800 = +7 horsepower
1000 = +7 horsepower

[PIT] (default pit speed is 5.5 seconds)
400 = 1 second faster pit stops
500 = 1 second faster pit stops
600 = 1 second faster pit stops

The Technical advantage changes depending on the event.

I have filled out the first form on the list. Looks interesting.

Stoked FBS is back! Submitted both forms

Edit: Ugh, that stats page is so depressing. 3rd in podiums, but no wins.

Signed. Now to figure out this hiring stuff, its usually not an issue when its just you teaming up with someone else :lol:

I am sadly going to have to decline this. It's interesting, but far too complicated for me to keep track of with my current work schedule.
