Guys, I hope you can give me a hand in this.

For about 6 months, BBC HD worked just fine on my Samsung TV, a LE 37 B579 with built-in sat receiver. About 4 to 6 weeks ago, it started playing up, showing artefacts (little pink square boxes) every 15 to 45 seconds whenever there was a scene change or some serious action going on on screen.

Only BBC HD is affected, all other services work fine, both SD and HD.

I finally came around and checked the orientation of the dish and laid fresh cables and connectors. No joy, the artefacts remain the same.

I did check the signal both with the TV and a STB, but they show zero bit errors.

Then it came to my attention the at the beginning of June, the BBC changed to VBR encoding. It would be too much of a coincidence I thought, and thus I ask you if you had, or heard of, similar problems.

Samsung is of little help, because it seems most still use STBs and this particular TV model is not so very common in the UK for watching Freesat.

So if you have an info or other input, I would be very grateful. I contacted the BBC , too, but I fear with all the debate raging about picture quality, my problem may be overlooked or wrongly understood.

Thanks in advance, or for the sake of the old Usenet days: TIA!
