Yeah, YSSMAN, you're right.

But its hard to imagine that such a brand which had great influence on American cars would be in such a pitiful state now eh...makes me wonder what went wrong :indiff: Same with Oldsmobile. That was such a historic name, and GM killed it! It was a moment of disgrace when Olds was euthanized.

Off Topic: Its possible to twin- or quad-turbocharge an engine. Is it possible to twin- or quad-supercharge an engine?

Of course.

Of course.

Hmmmm...I see.

But in that case the engine has to be humongous because supercharger is practically built into the engine right? At least I learned that it was driven by the engine, not exhaust, so I figure its built into the engine :nervous:

Superchargers can be added later no problems, most are driven by your belt, same as say a powersteering pump.

For example here is a supercharger bolted on aftermarket (pic from this post in Honda forum https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2163305&postcount=628)

Ohhh I see...

Then its something like turbocharger too then; you can put on aftermarket supercharger...

Superchargers seems better than turbochargers to me because there are no lags; if I get spanking rich then maybe I'll supercharge my car...

But don't know if I will ever get spanking rich

What was disgraceful was what GM was doing with the Oldsmobile name up until they killed it... :indiff:

Yes, but from what I understand, superchargers take up a lot more space than turbochargers do. Twin-supercharging or quad-supercharging would require a lot of space under the hood.

Superchargers don't lag, yes, but turbochargers are capable of producing much more power for their size. That's why all the crazy, 1000+hp tuner cars are turbocharged, and not supercharged.

Unless its a AMG or Brabus model.

...Most drag racing top-fuel engines start their lives as 800-900HP Mopar HEMI engines and then after the addition of a supercharger (a very, very big supercharger) they make upwards of 1500HP or more.

Just thought I would add that...

Top-fuel?

5000HP+.

Also, interestingly, they only run one gear - they slip the clutch all the way to about half-track and from there on she's wide open all the way to the line... 👍
