Banned and Compulsory Parts:
  • All cars must use Sports:Soft tyres.
  • ALL aero parts are banned (including kits and floors).
    • The Citroen, Mercedes and Hyundai must run the 'No Wings' option instead of 'Standard Aero'.
  • Nitrous is not permitted.

Optional Parts:

Since proper policing of individual parts (except for nitrous and aero parts) is almost, if not totally, impossible and/or impractical, tuning is otherwise completely free. Within the restrictions mentioned, add whichever parts to your car that you wish to. Tune the settings for these parts as you like.

However you decide to tune your car within the rules, your car must adhere to the respective power limit and the respective weight limit for each car, as listed below, via the use of the power limiter and ballast. These limits will be spec-checked during each race meeting.

Anyone caught using illegal aero parts will be handed suitable penalties, which can be unlimited. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid excuse!

Penalty System & Stewards:

By signing up to the series you agree to accept and observe the series rules.

Stewards are rolo912011, skengdigi, PleaseD1e and Street-King-07. Please PM the stewards via GTPlanet or PSN regarding on-track incidents. Do NOT publicly address the issue with the other driver(s) involved. In general, the stewards will only view what is reported to them via PM, although action may also be taken if any non-reported incidents are seen.

For any stewards' decision to stand, at least two of the stewards must agree to it, else no action will be taken, or the most lenient penalty available will be applied. Stewards are not allowed to judge incidents involving themselves. The reasons for penalties will not be made public - please PM the stewards if you want an explanation for your penalty/penalties, or to appeal.

You will be issued a warning if your driving in a certain incident is perceived to be unacceptably 'dirty' - this means you are automatically given
2 penalty points. You can receive a maximum of one warning per race, but it is possible to receive multiple warnings in one race night!

You will be banned for one race meeting if you earn 8 penalty points during the season (i.e. 4 warnings). Race bans do not count as drop scores. If you earn enough points to be banned due to an incident or incidents at the final round of the season, then your ban carries over to your next BTCC event/season.

You will be banned for the rest of the season if you earn 16 penalty points during the season. (i.e. 8 warnings). New drivers may be placed on probation after their first meeting if they earn enough penalty points/time penalties in their debut round. If their standard of driving is continued at their second meeting, then they will be removed from the series.

Time penalties are not normally associated with a warning, but it is at the stewards' discretion. If you have already received a warning in a single race, you will be issued time penalties for any further rule breaks during that race (of at least 5 seconds each). Other incidents may be worthy of only a time penalty, of variable length. Pitting too early or too late incurs a 10-second penalty. Failing to pit at all means a 60-second penalty.

It is not possible for us to record and re-play instances of drivers being blocked in Qualifiers. However, if the stewards receive persistent complaints of blocking from several events, or if any incidents are seen on-track by a steward, then the driver at fault will be penalised with warnings and/or time penalties.

Off-track behaviours can also be penalised. Please respect other drivers off the track (on GTP or PSN), as well as on it. Penalties will be issued if a drivers' behaviour is considered disrespectful or offensive, or if a driver persistently attempts to stir up trouble in discussion. There are no maximum limits to the penalties, and you may face a season-long or even permanent ban! We're all here to have fun and ultimately, we're all playing a video game. Let's all have good-spirited racing. :) 👍

All decisions are at the stewards' discretion, and may include penalties not listed here. The series owner reserves the right to make the final decision on cases where appropriate. All drivers are welcome to appeal any penalties given to them, provided they do so within 24 hours of the race results being published. If your appeal is successful, any changes to your penalty points total, or the points standings, will be included in the tables published after the next round of the series.

Race Rules, Format and Points System:

Driving Aids: Prohibited except for Driving Line and ABS.
Grid - Grid Start with False Start Check

Boost - Off
Penalties - None

Tyre/Fuel Consumption - Normal
Grip - Real

Number of Pitstops - 1 (pit windows provided in advance)
Race Finish Delay - 120 seconds (you will not be classified if you do not finish within 2 minutes of the race winner)
Visible Damage - On

Mechanical Damage - Light
Slipstream - Weak

Three approx. 20-minute races per week. Pre-Qualifying system for races. 9 rounds over 9 weeks. Drivers', Teams', Manufacturers' and Independents' Championships.

DROP SCORE SYSTEM - each drivers'/teams'/manufacturers'/independents' worst two scores of the season will be dropped, meaning 7 scores out of 9 will count for the overall championships. This allows drivers to miss two rounds with no disadvantage.
Drivers' Championship: Drivers must be registered for the championship for at least 8 rounds in order to qualify for at least one drop score.
Teams' Championship: A 'Team' is defined as no more than two drivers running under the same entry name. Two drivers can team up at any time, but any points scored before the team is formed will not be counted for the Team. Teams must be registered for at least 8 rounds in order to qualify for at least one drop score.
Manufacturers' Championship: Manufacturers must have at least one car registered for at least 8 rounds in order to qualify for at least one drop score. Only the top two scores for a manufacturer at any event count for points.
Independents' Championship: An 'Independent' is defined as any driver who is not part of a team. Drivers must be registered as an Independent for at least 8 rounds in order to qualify for at least one drop score.

Race Night Attendance, Procedure and Rules:

Arrive on time! Due to the race format, the schedule is tight. We encourage all drivers to arrive at least 5 minutes before spec checks are due to begin for their session. In general, we will not wait for latecomers, and we will start no later than 10 minutes after schedule regardless of circumstances. The only circumstances in which the start will be delayed further will be in the case of unexpected mass DCs/black screens/game freezes. If you are well aware of your individual connection problems, then we may not wait for you, and we may have to ask you to leave the series if your connection seriously affects the field.

Top 10 "Locked-In"
The top 10 drivers in the Drivers' Championship (or less to accommodate the stewards) will be automatically guaranteed a starting position for each week's races. All other drivers must run through Pre-Qualifying in order to fill the remaining 6 spaces in the lounge. Extra qualifying spaces will become available if Top 10 drivers do not attend.

Race Night
- Pre-Qualifying (6.45pm GMT) - an 8-minute Qualifier, run as a 'Race Together' Qualifier. Drivers will have their cars spec-checked and their connection strength analysed before the session begins. The session will begin at 6.45pm GMT regardless of any other circumstances. If you do not arrive on track in time, you are out. If you disconnect during the Qualifier, it is classified as a DNPQ and you are also out. A 1-lap race will begin at the end of the Qualifier, and once results have been noted you must quit the race. Do NOT drive or leave the line once the race starts.

Please do not obstruct other drivers during Qualifying sessions! If you're not on a fast lap, either get off the track or drive way off the racing line and slow down/stop if you see a driver coming. Please stop in a sensible place!

- Race 1 (7.05pm GMT approx.) - grid will be determined by a 10-minute Qualifier, run as a 'Race Together' Qualifier. Drivers will have their cars spec-checked and their connection strength analysed before the race begins. The Qualifier will begin at 7.05pm approx. at the latest regardless of latecomers, who will not be able to enter the session late and will therefore miss Race 1. This session will be considered a 'race' session, and therefore any DCs will be treated as a non-start/DNF, as you cannot rejoin a Qualifier once you have left it.

- Race 2 (7.40pm GMT approx.) - grid will be set to reversed based on Race 1 results. Drivers will have their cars spec-checked again before the race begins. DCs in Race 1 will be treated as a DNF and therefore you will start Race 2 from the front of the grid. Anyone who purposely retires, whether or not in an attempt to start Race 2 up front, will be forced to start at the back, and will be further penalised after the race. The grid would then be completed manually.

- Race 3 (8.05pm GMT approx.) - grid will be set to reversed based on Race 2 results. Drivers will have their cars spec-checked again before the race begins. DCs in Race 2 will be treated as a DNF and therefore you will start Race 3 from the front of the grid. Anyone who purposely retires, whether or not in an attempt to start Race 3 up front, will be forced to start at the back, and will be further penalised after the race. The grid would then be completed manually.

Manual grids will be used as a backup procedure for any race in case of any problems.

During the Race

This series follows the GTP OLR Rules for acceptable conduct in racing, and these must be followed at all times!

Races will not be stopped in the case of major pile-ups. However, races will be stopped if there is deemed to be too much lag. Attempts will be made to run the races on the scheduled date if at all possible.

Mandatory pit-stops and pit windows. Make sure your pit entries and exits are fair and safe! Any kind of incident must be avoided. Do not use cars in front as brakes on pit entry. Otherwise, entries and exits are free from any restriction.

2 wheels on track at all times. No exceptions! 'Track' is defined as being between the white lines. If the 'racing line' requires you to cross a white line (e.g. last sector at Trial Mountain), then it is acceptable to do so. Two wheels are allowed on kerbs.

Bumpdrafting is legal, so long as you do not risk a crash. Avoid when nearing a braking zone.

Using horns is not against the rules, but is not recommended. Don't irritate people with them. If horn use is a factor in causing a crash, it will be taken into account and could increase the penalty.

You are not allowed to purposely retire/rage-quit from Race 1 or 2. If you need to retire, park in a safe place.

Unnecessary in-race chat is not acceptable, and will be penalised!

- Drivers who have selected a car, but do not give an entry name before Round 1 of the season will be put down as 'Privateer' and entered in the Independents' Championship. This can be changed afterwards if requested.

- 'AWOL Rule' - If you miss 3 consecutive rounds of the series (or both of the first 2 rounds) without any reason or comment to let us know, either before or during your absence, then you will be removed from the series, and your space will be freed up for another driver. You can re-apply to join, but you will sit at the back of the queue. Three breaches of this rule within a certain number of seasons will result in future sign-ups being rejected.
It isn't our responsibility to remind you of when the races are!

Sticking with the 330i then?
Glad to see Willow has made the provisional track list.👍

Both factors will need testing. This is why I've opened the thread early, in the blind hope I can get some good data in time for the new season, which I hope to kick off in May sometime.

The 330 is likely to stay on for now, to be honest it's not my top priority - my priority is ensuring the Alfa, Peugeot and Citroen fit in with the current field.

If the field is too spread out at Willow then it will get replaced, which is why I've listed some reserve tracks to try instead in case of issues.

Anyone interested in doing some testing this week - perhaps after Thursday's meet?

@SkengD @quade420 @neljack are you interested in carrying on as stewards?

Yes for sure! :) I'll remember to turn up successive weeks soon hopefully, goes right over my head sometimes :(

Looking good and promising. 👍

Hopefully I can have a better season in BTCC-8 since I've got some experience under my belt with Season 7. I might switch to the BMW when sign-ups are open after a frustrating time with the Genesis.

I'll be there for sure and will be happy to remain on as a steward. Willow may be a tough one as far as keeping the field close given that it's a high speed track. FWDs will probably have an advantage there but I love the track so hopefully it stays. Also the tire wear is high there too so that should give the fr's some of that advantage back. And as always the draft will keep things close.

I'll be racing Thursday then off to work once race over :(

Next Thursday I should be about, we testing cars as tuned with standed settings again.
Just weight added to rear of car?

It may of been a good idea making a BTCC-8 test forum.
With maybe Test meets hold on a Wednesday night from 18:40 to 21:00.

That way more cars could be added in the tests and this room not spamed to hell before BTCC starts.

That is a good point actually. It might be worth setting some standard parameters like I did last season. Running default settings but changing the Max Speed transmission for each track seems a good shout. That seemed to work well before this season.

Haha, I have done, this is it :sly: Wednesday nights are also good for me for testing.

Easy on adding more cars. Stick with the 8 on the list for now and if I want any more looking at I'll announce it.

Well I think a lot may pick the BMW any 4 allowed!
Nissan I do like but that 5 speed box hmm.

I would like to see another rwd car in the list and what's wrong bring a 4wd car in?

BMW will be interesting. I wonder if it will need a weight increase. I doubt it but you can never be sure.

I have thought about another FR, but workable choice is limited. If I get chance I'll have a look.

4WD just tends to be a no since it's overall grip and tyre life is just so much better.

Ill carry on same duties and QUADE and I will stay as teammates.

Not sure about car choice yet though.

i have any idea, but we're working on it. i believe me and madbean will continue (i hope) and hurley as an independent, with our new sponsors Uncle Ben lol
i know your not accepting sign ups now mate, but im just warning people if they steal our spot i will hunt them down lol
will test them and give feedback mate

Offline mode, Arcade. But there's some issues (Oversteer on some cars. Understeer on Citroen and Peugeot), so I'll do it again but this time: On online mode.

Top 14:

The top 14 drivers in the BTCC-7 Drivers' Championship will be automatically reserved a place for Round 1 of this season. The current top 14 in the points are welcome to reserve their place now if they wish. If you don't want to return then your space will be left vacant for anyone else to fill.

Please note car selection is still unavailable, but if you want to get your team/independent arrangements sorted out now then I will start noting them down.

Please be aware that if you drop out of the Top 14 before the end of the current season, you will no longer have a guaranteed starting place for Round 1 of this season.

I'll let blue call us in, but I will be in.

with teams and so on rolo can you list there team names and team colours pls.
Just lets us see who running what colours, so we can pick something not matching.

There will be an Pre-Q, right? Just like the BTCC-7.

No. Read the opening post, especially the Top 14 section.

Good idea, for that I'll need people to tell me what they're running.
