cannot read disc(PS2)

My ps2 keeps saying cannot read disc even with a brand new disc. I have tried web sites that show you how to clean the lens and adjust it. If you know what i"m talking about, my ps2 dosent have that white wheel that is shown in the picture. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpfull.

This has been posted and talked about a thousand times before. Do a search on DREs (Disk Read Errors).

i posted on playstation.com's forums about how i fixed my DRE's using a guide found on a site called tweak3d.net

only to have a mod make the thread "disappear"

i took mine apart and had no troubles with that DRE screen popping up again.but with age comes problems.

i've used my ps2 so much,the cd-tray is acting up.

I've had awful luck with my PS2's they always break down after about 10 months. I'm on my 3rd one now.

I just cracked mine open and dusted it out and opened up the disc drive and dust it out and the thing worked fine afterwards.

If you can't search and find anything (which you should) try these methods:

1. Buy an optical drive lens cleaner CD and run it through the PS2 Drive (I use Maxell).

2. Search for PS2 Disk Read Error in Google, you'll find some warranty-voiding, but useful, information.

the only game it says that is for madden '06 and i just keep hitting re-set untill it reads.

my first ps2 had a DRE that I couldnt fix, my second one was a pre owned one, never had a DRE, been dropped off my shelf twice and had to take it apart and re align the drive each time and its still goin strong! Better than my 2 original Xboxes!
