I know the developers give the AI cars extra grunt etc and maybe even make your car handle worse to keep the racing closer - but it is ruining the game for me a bit, just like it does in races in Gran Turismo where the same thing happens (the first GT game being the worst - a 290hp NSX keeping up/passing my 900hp R32 GT-R...).
Its possibly also to stop people from modifying their cars so much that they walk all over the AI, which is fair enough.

However, i'm now stuck in the Semi-Pro season (on race 5 of 12, Tsukuba) and have only made it that far through the last few races by knocking the lead cars into the grass/walls etc so they wouldn't fly past me (in my higher specced car... - which the game modified for me to make me 'competitive') to never be seen again. Or by blocking them so excessively that i would have a huge collection of bad sportsmanship flags by now.

I was getting so annoyed with it its not funny. I even tried a similar car as to what they were driving - nope, still got wasted! I turned all the difficulty settings to the easiest possible (where the car brakes etc for you). Nope, got annihilated even worse!
I consider myself an average Forza skill3d player (have all four games, and have finished all four - even got 100% of the achievements for Forza 3) but there seems to be no way i can get past this? Tried it with a R32 Skyline (no grip...) and then a Lamborghini Diablo SV (lots more grip, but 'stock' Imprezas, NSX's, Supra's etc would just fly away from me on the straights and ever so slightly on corners too!) which i tried in stock and modified to the event limit form, no better either way!

I was very close to turning on the computer and selling the game, or ranting off about it like this. Until i discovered that you could turn down the AI difficulty in Event Mode. So now i am going to do the entire game in this mode, as it appears to be the only way i can race fairly/realisticly with other AI cars.

Would appreciate any help/suggestions from those who have managed to pass through more seasons that i have.
I'm not impressed that i have to race dirty in Tour mode in stock standard or modified-to-the-limit cars just to win the race - its not really sending the right message to players, and is taking all the fun out of that mode.

DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A FLAME WAR PLEASE! Such posts will be reported.

Forza doesn't have rubber band A.I.

The A.I itself has dynamic difficulty so the games probably just taken it a step too far for your skill level and trying your hardest to finish first isn't going to help you.

For me however, I'm up to the expert division and I haven't lost a race nor come close to losing and I've just been driving an A class XB GT.

p.s The A.I also get auto upgraded cars so they're all around the top of the P.I range for that class. That is so they can have more different cars like in FM3 while all of them are somewhat competitive instead of only have 1 car being competitive like FM3.

So if i start losing races they'll tone it down a bit? Because once the cars get in front of me there seems to be no way to catch up to them. :(

Kinda sucks as my win ratio is 100% at the mo too.

Do you want a realistic virtual racing experience or a arcade racer? What IRL driver or team wins every race they enter? Try to accept it as a challenge and if you only win even 50% of the time it will be more special.

While we're on the subject of cheating AI has M. Rossi gotten to old or something he's not doing very well on my game, In old forza's he was dick dasterdly taking evil swipes up the inside, Never giving up his line , I'v hardly raced him this time around :(

focus on the track and what lines you should be taking. Maybe do some hot laps and just try to better your times. I'm really slow compared to a lot of other players, but with trying to watch what mph I can handle turns at and what gear is the best, ive improved tons. My foot work still sucks but my corners are getting better.
Maybe turn the difficulty up a notch when you start getting better and are beating the AI consistantly. Just some food for thought.

Don't you get bored when you win 100% of the time?
Not really, especially if it was a good (a.k.a clean) battle to get to that position.

Winning 50% of the time won't get me as many achievements though. ;)

But you made me realise the obvious, that i let these 'cheating' AI win their stoopid races and work myself through World Tour mode, then go back into Event Mode and destroy them all (uh, i mean gold all the races) that way.

It'll take longer, but hopefully i can still get the same amount of achievements.

I'm just used to winning every single race in every car game i play, its been this way since 1995 or so. I know its not as easy in real life, as i've participated in real motorsporty events (go-karts, timed grasskhana's, drag races etc) before and not always won. Its a LOT more fun in real life than a video game though. :D

EDIT:

I usually gain on them around corners (or before, when they brake) but that advantage usually dies when back on a straight. The annoying thing is the loss of grip on cars that were much grippier in easier races.

But yeah, i might have to try be smoother still when the game allows me.

Can't adjust the difficulty in World Tour. Well, AI difficulty anyway. I've found myself racing with TCS and stabilty management on in FM4 just to (try) keep up with the AI. It helps a little, but only needed to use those aids in FM3 when using race cars.

Honest question, but that does also account for the car?

Because I have noticed that there are some cars in the game that can remain absolutely dominant over the AI. The Subaru 22B is one & despite the AI being faster on the straights, the car can easily out brake & out corner the majority of B-Class 500 cars.

So, I'm just curious if the XB GT is one of those cars.

Never thought of it like that but even when I chose a random gifted car so I can do a race while world tour doesn't let me use my XB I still mop the floor with them. My experience echoes ISR, the A.I just isn't competitive for me. (wasn't in FM3 either)

Here's my opinions. I'm on season 5 and am just now starting to run into some trouble winning. I'm able to usually squeak out a 1 win, otherwise i'm finishing in the top 3. I don't mind the speed of the AI. In fact, I love the speed. Really makes me keep on my game. But what I don't like, is how brain dead the drivers are. Yes, I know. It's very difficult to recreate human thought process ect ect. But why do you have to make them slam into the back of you, turn into you on the straight, dive bomb you, ect ect. It's not enjoyable losing to guys who are wrecking you to win. just imo.

The A.I is aggressive somewhat. It rammed me once and it damaged my engine. But it isn't too much of a trouble for me. Even though Rewind is turned off.

I'm in the Smi-Pro season, now, too, and I'm fluctuating between tuned cars (well, one tuned car) and several stock ones, from muscle cars to DTM homologation specials to JDM stuff.

So far, the AI has, at best, been able to keep up with me. And I usually had to make some mistakes, lose focus or just do random dumb stuff while racing. Of course, the experience might differ from person to person, espeecially with the AI being addaptive now.

However, my first advice to the OP would be to use stock cars and see what sort of results he gets. At times, upgrading a car with unfitting mods or tuning it the wrong way will only make an event harder to win - especially now, that the AI seems to upgrade their cars to match our own.

Haven't upgraded or tuned anything that I've raced with yet. Just been enjoying the refreshing fun of the hot hatches and other low powered cars being more fun and interesting in Forza, compared to GT.

I've not encountered any problems winning every race, although a couple I didn't win due to mistakes.

I do enjoy having to chase someone down though. It's just that no racing game seems to have got that right since Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 2. Was great chasing down AI in that, seeing yourself gain on them by 0.5s per lap etc. In Forza/GT you just seem to lumber upon them really quickly, there's no sense of you just keeping the pace and gradually reeling them in, they just brake at a stupid point where you don't and you're right next to them suddenly.

I'm not really struggling to beat them yet but they are very stupid, I watched the lead car go straight on at a corner on Infineon and slam into a wall before coming back onto the track and wiping out 2 other cars.

Just like racing online then :sly:

I did think that when I saw it happen :P I actually like the new AI because it reminds me of how people race online (more of a random fashion than sticking to a perfect line 100% of the time) I'm not fond of how they spin me out on straights or make senna like dives up the inside into corners though.

Forza doesn't have rubber band A.I.

.
Forza indeed has rubberband AI in World Tour. It may not use rubberbanding on the highest level (last season) but it does have it. I've in season 6 and the AI still heavily use rubberbanding. The AI fastest lap will vary by 10 seconds depending on my position.
