I was REALY dissapointed when i realised there is no sedan of any civic varient in the whole of GT4!!!.. i was like 👎 .. i couldnt believe this, especially due to its popularity, im a huge honda fan and got all teary over this ;_;.

Another thing that ive noticed is that when you open up the Driving park menu there are many Honda Civic RS's lined up in the background. Now this is a sedan, but can we access them?.. this is so stupid if you cant, its as if PD is teasing us somehow, with their little mind games.

Is there any other dissapointed fans out there? Is their other models that you loved and were dropped in the making of the new GT?

man thats harsh. Thats one of the reasons that i actually prefer the sedan over the hatch. I dont want no namby pamby hatch with a skycraper spoiler, a milo tin resembling exhaust and doof doof music. Sedans rock ass.

So what kind of cars you into?.

Why would you want a 4 door Civic? There was never a 4 door Civic with an engine worth putting in GT, plus, there is already a ton of Civics and other Hondas to choose from.
I'd hate to see GT get any worse with another model of car becoming "too dominate" *cough Skyline cough*. :yuck:
I'm happy with the amount of cars. Sure it'd be nice to see a Talon TSi/Eclipse AWD, but for now, the FF versions will do. 👍

Is there anything you're not dissapointed about in GT4? All I have seen from you is complaints, theres nothing we can do about this, go tell PD

It is kinda suprising since this and the previous GT games are Japanese influnced and so many people are on the ho_da bandwagon but ho well.

With a game this huge, problems complaints and dissapointment is usually always associated. Especially wen they show teasing footage that isnt in the actual game *cough* draging *cough*. This was also the same with another monster game, san andres.. but we wont go there.

As for the civic dominating over GT, 1 model isnt going to start swarming grid lineups any time soon. Mainly because the civic 4 door is a tottaly different car then the hatch ('05 models), and the skyline has like 50 dif models, all of which look the same exept for the fact its a "special edtition", or "blue edition".. or whatever the case is.

And you say theres isnt an engine descent enough in 4door format to bother putting into the GT game?.. well thats were i was trying to aim for with the RS thing i was on about. This model claims massive horespower, and sporty suspension to match.

If you remember that GT1 and GT2 HAD four door Civics with B16A engines called Civic Ferio SiR (EG9) and Si (EK4).

These are JDM models and they are definetly worthy of inclusion in GT4. In Singapore the sedan EG9 and EK4 SiR are immensely popular for tuning. I understand that you don't get these models in U.S. or Canada so you might not know of its existance.

The RS model you are talking about is actually quite pathetic. Honda deleted the sports model from the 2001 (ES) lineup for its sedan. The RS is a JDM moniker, in Singapore, Malaysia, and some parts of Asia it is called the VTi-S. This car had a D17A 1.7 litre SOHC VTEC engine with 130PS power only. Not quite close to the older SiR 170PS isn't it?

However, Honda Thailand (where Honda have a plant and R&D centre) have made a Civic 2.0 i-VTEC version which has the Integra iS (JDM) or CRV engine in it. This is good for 165PS with auto but is still not the real deal.

It seems that Honda is shifting its focus on the hatches namely EP3 Type R both Euro and JDM version. Aust., U.S. and some South American countries get a milder version caller Si or SiR in the EP hatch. This is the same type of K20A engine from the Type R but with around 200PS.

Now, personally, I am a big fan of Honda and have even worked with them for a short time in the R&D centre. I feel that PD should have recognised by now that their game has a global appeal and should have included more variants of Japanese cars made in a foreign market. There are example like Acura and the Accord Coupe Import Model but I feel for you Americans when you say you want the car that you have to be included in the game.

But don't forget that most of the car data collection was done mostly in Japan where acquiring some specialised foreign models would be difficult. The team would have to go to great lengths to do this as I am sure with some racing cars done overseas.

I'd have liked to see an EG coupe, I think that's about the best looking Civic. Sedans are fine too, I just really don't like the hatchbacks.

You want Civics Go Play Need For Speed Want real cars come back to Gran Turismo

Your ignorance is astounding.

Civics of all styles are used to great effect in many sanctioned races throughout the world. Honda Challenge, Improved Touring, and autocross all have more than thier fare share of killer Honda Civics here in the US.

Kevin - autocrossing Civics for the last 5.5 years....

Agreed, coupes are the most attractive of the bunch. IMHO. 👍

I still fail to see why you would want to race a civic in Gran Turismo. They aren't fast, nor do they handle great either.

The only reason I could see is that you want it in the game because you drive it in real life. I'm a little saddened that they don't have base model Mustangs in the game, I mean they do have every version of the skyline that was ever produced.

This is kind of amazing. A thread is started complaining about the lack of small Japanese-brand 4-door mass-production sedans in GT4.

Never thought we would see this. Some people just can't get enough of them, I guess. Apparently PD knows their customer base quite well...

Personally I'm a little disappointed they don't have any Civic coupes in the game. I know the hatches are more popular but I like the look of coupe.

I am also a honda lover. I was very dissapointed with the tuning potential that pd gave the civics in gt4. In gt3 i got my EK9 up to over 400bhp whereas in GT4 they can only have 3 hundred and something. (not that 300bhp isnt a lot but you know what i mean)

I wish there were more skylines and lancers.

In Canada Acura rebadges a high end civic and lowers the price a little, it's called the EL, I'd have liked to have seen that car in the game.

Don't you guys have a Civic w/ Accord head and tail lights? :dopey: That really ****ed me up because I didn't know what the hell it was and it looked to clean (relatively of course  ) to be a ricer.

You're exactly right! I really don't think that if I didn't own a Civic, I would want to see it featured in the game. It's overall an economy car, (except the few Type R, Si etc) and yet it's an extremely popular tuner as well. I've owned 2 Civics and they've been excellent cars. I have to admit, it's kind of dissapointing to see so much negative stigma attached to the Civic because of all the poorly represented ricer mentalities that overwhelmingly prevail. (and understandably so) Oh well, such is life...

That probably depends upon where you live.

I live in Southern California, and this place is crawling with some of the meanest, baddest, nastiest-looking little Civic jewels you can imagine. Beautifully-done gems abound. There is no "negative stigma attached to the Civic" around here, I assure you.

That's good to hear. 👍 Here in Oklahoma, of the countless modded Civics I've seen, maybe 10-15 of them are done in good taste. I don't know what it is with these guys down here. :yuck: But taste is of course, objective... :)

I think the Civic Type R should've been sedan, I don't really like a tuned hatch back car... it looks weird... accept for ek9 that's the best hatch back car IMO:tup:

I consider civics cheap litttle cars. Its not like Honda ever tryed to pass them off as fast cars because they arent plain as that.

Friend, I think you are severely misinformed or plain ignorant. You don't sound like a car enthusiast, or perhaps you think American engineering is the best in the Automotive industry. I am sorry to burst your bubble but it is not.

I don't know what the rest of you think about 'performance' cars but if you think that having a factory car that does 5 secs for the 0-62mph dash is what makes it a performance car then you are wrong.

The Japanese engineers and certainly Honda makes their cars a marvel IN THEIR CLASS. So the JDM Civic SiR and Type R (EG, EK, even DC2) with their 1.6 litre DOHC VTEC B16A/B engines are the best in their class with surefooted handling and speed. These cars are probably more reliable than any muscle car and can do endless laps round a circuit without overheating and still go shopping at town speeds returning excellent fuel economy.

And I am not even talking about modified versions yet.

They are cheap yes, because the platform is still based on a normal car with a NA 1.6 litre engine, FF drive and looks different from the base economy model.

Actually I don't care what others like you say or think but I am sure there are lots of Honda fans in America who would agree with me. Try bringing your arguement to JSPEK.COM.

On another note, I am well aware of the tuning culture in the U.S. and I have been there often enough although I am from Asia. A lot of 'so-called' enthusiasts think guys who like Japanese cars are rice boys.

Thats cool! I will be down in Oklahoma City University in a year and a half time to finish my part time degree program. I would love to see the tuning culture there. Maybe you could bring me around.

I would love to share my experience and knowledge with Honda fans in America.

Cheers

American cars may not be the greatest of all the engineering examples, but they are far from unreliable, thank you very much. 👎

You need to read carefully friend. I did not say that American cars are unreliable. I only said Civics would probably be more reliable. That does not indicate any level of reliability, only a suggestion of being slightly better in terms of comparision of reliability.

Anyway, to answer Extreme car's question, the reason the the Civic Type R was not made into a sedan because in Japan the hatch is more popular. A 3 door body is lighter, more rigid and simpler to modify into a performance car than a sedan. Note that the EK9 was made to enter into endurance racing. Everything from its chassis and engine design was specially made with this in mind so its actually a little different from the Integra DC2' hardcore approach.

In fact, in Japan the 1995-2000 Integra Type R also existed as a four door sedan codenamed DB8.

I've found(since my good racing friend bought a Honda Civic EG Coupe and converted everything to type-r standards) that Honda Civic coupes are actually quite fun and reliable, along with good mileage. While i'm driving my (okay well not really XP) gas guzzling Silvia S13 180sx, he's spending all that saved money on amazingly nice parts which i am very envious of. My honda hatered has vanished and it was replaced with simply Honda coupe love. While hatchbacks and sedans of the civic group arent exactly that nice to look at, they still offer the same quality(about), just in an uglier package.

most people on this thread giving real opinions probablly have actually driven a real Honda Civic before.
thanks for the cool threads.

Gran Turismo Four needs more real sports cars & less $hitty economy cars.

You have unfortunetly missed what the whole concept of the GT series is about. I have said it many times before, it is a game with something for everyone. Racecar fans, tuning car fans, horsepower fans, drift and grip fans, and so that normal people can enjoy driving their car (if it exists in the game) and trying out lots of factory cars stock.

If you want 'real sports cars' you should play Need for Speed Underground 2.

Don't in insult the intelligience of other gamers who are car enthusiasts here!
