SSC Week 41 by f1_stig, on Flickr

For me it's a little bland, had the kart been a different colour it may have been more interesting, as it is has too much the same tones as the background colours. Also the use of the miniature filter kills it a bit for me as either end of the kart is 'caught' in the blur. For such a small vehicle I think a more zoomed in approach with a dramatic angle are required when it is on it's own. The 2nd poll shot is a good example. I do like how the kart is arranged in the lighted area between the shadows though.
That's just my opinion however.

would a monochrome/sepia/warm filter help with the situation?

thanks for the feedback, i was thinking miniature because it was so small. i did some close ups with low aperture but they didn't look to good

Any feedback?

I spent a long time racing around the 'Ring.
The first thing coming to mind: had your kart been at the centre of the shot it would have made an impression that it is still sticking into the apex, but what came out was rather the opposite.

Being partly shaded by the shadow doesn't help either.

From being a banked left hander, it looked like one of the karusel or the left hander before going down the 2 km straight, I would rather put the camera horizontally to capture the kart at an angle.

From what bmxmitch said of my shot for SSC week 39
...
You have plenty of time to choose a nice angle or the right position. Play with it and try some more different stuff with Photomode.

I think the same goes for this shot too.

The 5th shot looks like the driver is slouching!

This was taken for the tournament qualifier, but wasn't even good enough to make the rejects set, so I wasn't expecting much  Feedback anyway please :)

I personally thinks it needs a focal point, just like mattmmfolk once said which cart are u trying to focus on? Secondly, work on your compositions. I've seen your works in recent Photomode competitions, I feel your photos are lack in composition. You can do better by studying others work, how the use the lighting and find an exciting angel to make the car pops... Etc

Sorry for being so blunt, coz my dad is a professional photographer, he taught me a lot technical aspects of photo taking skills... But ya enough of b.s. hope you understand what I'm trying to lead you here :)

i know i am not qualified to query the technical parts of the photo, but i would like to know which kart is the focus on.
The cart on the left :)

Wow guys, really fullsize before you vote. The one in the lead is blurry when enlarged.

IMO that looks like a shot from a fellow karter who is also having an off with the kart in the shot.

if the shot of the kart going off is from the other side (ie going into the camera), that would create a bigger impact IMO.

i think most would love the posture of the driver of that shot (me inclusive), and most would prefer to have the kart with all four on the ground

good poll
feedback please

Is it the overblown lighting or no real centre of focus?

IMO lighting is particularly hard to control at Kart Space.

I see that you are trying to attempt a chase scene from wheel view, fine for an ordinary car but for a kart...I would snap it with the driver in full view.

Feedback please

I love the closeup of the cart in the corner of the screen but the rest of the photo falls flat. There isn't anything of interest to continue to look at. Nothing outstanding other than the cool corner closeup.

good poll
feedback please

Good angle, I love the overblown lighting, but show me more of the apex and the kart. I recommend that you use a wide angle lens (low mm) to create a dramatic effect.

Not asking for feedback but just posting so you can see what I entered.

It was an old shot from way back as I didn't have time to shoot anything and I didn't expect it to make the poll and I'm glad because the ones in the poll are much better. :)

Poll closed and the winner is...

woow...:dopey: I am deeply grateful for all your votes guys 👍

'karts'... I hardly touch them so it was nice to give me an excuse to do so....now realised I managed to hold off Mitch and Boab :scared: Great shots all round guys.

Gotta go away and come back with a 'theme' so should be PM'ing Nato very shortly.

* BTW, Its a "bloom" effect caused by over-exposing the warm filter, check out the No 7 ...... blurry? a bit harsh :sly:...
had to get that one in :)
