Component YPbPr conversion help

Hey guys, I have recently bought a Hauppauge HD PVR for my youtube and gaming endeavors. I bought the HD PVR in the US but live in Japan. I was reading that TV's in Japan don't support YPbPr Component but rather another sort, D5 or something. I noticed my TV back home does not have YPbPr support. Is there anyway to convert the YPbPr to D5 or HDMI? I've looked into many TV's here and cannot seem to find one with YPbPr plugs.

I'm pretty sure (I lurk the Sega-16 forums and they constantly talk about video connectors for reasoning too nerdy to explain here) that D-Terminal/D5 is just a different plug with the same signals, and all you need is an adapter cable similar to how all you need for converting DVI to HDMI is a cable.

Edit: Wikipedia appears to be saying basically the same thing. Is that the plug you were talking about?

Yeah, the problem is. I can find YPbPr to HDMI converters but the reviews are quite shaky. When I look for YPbPr to D-Terminal. I can't find jack. Only thing I can find is a cable on Amazon that looks to be for Canon Video Camera' s. I figured it wouldn't work since it's designed for a video camera. But maybe i'm wrong?

Amazon Canon YPbPr to D-Terminal

I see no reason why it wouldn't work, based on the description. I looked up the camera, and it looks like it uses D-Terminal out rather than Mini-RCA for it's Component video; which is why the adapter cable exists to connect it to TVs that don't have D-Terminal inputs. It seems to me that the signals themselves would be the same, because D-Terminal is a standardized plug.

If you already have component cables, you could save a bit of money and pick this up instead, though.

hi,
I too am having a similar problem, mine involves sending component through to and Amp. But anyway i don't think you can use a YPbPr to HDMI purely because the HD PVR cannot read HDMI.

I have had a look around and as Toronado said i dont see why the YPbPr to D-Terminal won't work, because the D-terminal is basically a connector carries a component video signal.

Just to make sure is this the Port at the back of your TV?

mhm that is exactly what it looks like. But mine says D5 instead of D4. D4 is 720p and D5 is 1080i I believe.

I'd rather buy from Amazon, so I guess that Canon Camera chord is my only choice?

The only thing that is throwing me off is this statement.

Replacement D Terminal component video cable for use with the Canon XH A1, XH G1, and XL H1 Professional Camcorders.
