Doesnt it seem odd to anyone else that the computer can go 20 laps flawlessly around the track while even with superslicks you have to pit around 9 or 10. I was trying to beat MR challenge in pro and i get ahead of the GT40 (d@mn thing) and then my tires get orange and my zonda s doesnt hold the road anymore! it always happens around the 9th lap too.

I haven't driven the Zonda yet (can't bear to look at it) but on experience I think weight has a lot to do with tyre wear - as an example I just ran the Vitz/Yaris series and could have quite comfortably run 20+ laps on superhard tyres.

As I recall the Zonda is quite heavy.

I would say, first of all you must be driving your tires pretty hard. I can get about 20 laps out of a set of super slicks when I drive hard. It takes a little practice to learn to treat your tires good, and still stay ahead of the pack. It also helps to tune your car in real good to extend tire life.

Second, if you watch a computer car in a replay with tire wear turned on (in replay options) you'll notice that the tires wear at the same rate, and the car gradually goes slower and slower. They also have a tendancy to go flailing aimlessly off the course ... in certain races. Have you run a longer race on the Leguna Seca course? The computer driven cars usually bite it on the last left coming to the big strait stretch. They get even worse a few laps into it. It's really kind of funny to watch, and give the game a better sense of reality when you come around the corner and see a car facing you in a cloud of dust.

Practice makes better ... perfection belongs only to one man.

Ive raced the course about 6 times and each time (if i dont spin out and get pi$$ed) i get passed up by that stupid gt40, everytime. Without tire wear id just use the super softs and smoke their @$$es, but with the super slicks, my car is prone to spinning out.

From what I recall, the Zonda is tough to keep going in a strait line, and also wears the tires hard. I couldn't really ever get it figured out. It sounds pretty awsome, and seems to accellerate pretty good though.

You might want to read through this pretty quick. There is a little bit of quality information in it.

When I won the ZZII I immediately placed the top turbo in and, oh god! It is now a whopping 930Bhp but handles beautifully! Honestly my best car to date. (And thats saying something, I have just aquired the 787B!):burnout:

Things that really wear out tires:

Burnouts- Take your time to make sure you don't burn out your wheels at the start of a race or after a really sharp turn

Taking turns too fast- Just look at them when you're on a really sharp turn and you go too fast. They will quickly turn from blue, to green, to orange, and then red if you do too many of those.

Braking really hard- Just like turning too hard and burning out, you go too fast! Try to slow down a little bit before you floor the brakes.

Unbalanced tires- No, you can't really balance them as you would in real life, but find out by the power and the drivetran which tires burn up first(if any), and then get some more slick(hard) tires on them. Then if you get the right balance, they should stay the same throughout the whole race.

I find that the AI drivers pit twice as much as me, I usually can go about 15 laps with most cars, and good cars like 787b or zonda race car, Vertigo race car I can do 20 or sometimes more.

I am just starting the pro section and I seem to get 10 laps out of the medium racing tire. I hit it hard the first fwe laps then back it off a little and it saves the tire. I try to be smooth no hard braking and spinning of wheels coming out of turns and you can go a long way on a set of tires. I have not messed with the super hard tires yet so I cannot help there.

Hey if you can do 10 laps on the mediums than good for you, keep it up. I tryed that onece in the european championship with the mustang I was about 20 seconds ahead, and the zonda c12 was in second and on the final 2 laps he gaind all that time back on me and he won by 7 seconds so you must be a great driver in the game.
