Custom Soundtracks in GT5 - What are you listening to?

while driving on tokyo route im wanna listen to J Rock

high and mighty color and X-japan uuuuh rose of pain while driving on nürburgring must be epic xD

Run to the Hills @ Trial Mountain/WRC comps?

Indeed, also thinking of Be Quick or Be Dead, Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Aces High, The Duellists, Tailgunner, To Tame a Land, Man on the Edge, Futureal and Lord of the Flies ;)

Some Frank Klepacki rock/electronica fusion:

and of course the obligatory Feeder:

I'm one of those guys that doesn't listen to anything while racing, only the sound of the engine. Although, for the endurance races that are sure to be included, I'm probably gonna need some tunes for the long drives in between pits, so it'll be something from my collection of black metal most likely.

Right you are sir 👍
Some people dismiss it as too experimental - but all those weird drumming sequences with no melody match perfectly with a shooting stand off.

You should have a look into Foley Room - that's excellent aswell.

I have Bricolage, but that is all jungle beats - and nothing like Foley room and Chaos theory.

Good to see another Amon Tobin fan! However, you haven't mentioned Supermodified, Out From Out Where or Permutation, have you listened to them? I can understand why you'd pick Foley Room over Bricolage (Foley Room is easily my favourite album so far, the amount of work that went into it is incredible), but those three middle albums are 100,000,000% worth at least checking out on iTunes.

Also, if you haven't already, go here and download everything (it's free (god knows why but I won't question it) and legal, it's his site after all) http://www.amontobin.com/storeNew/cat.php?item_type=freebie. The Foley Room live in Brussels mix is one of my most favourite things ever. There's some drum & bass involved, but it's Amon Tobin so it always works if you know what I mean.

This is one of my favorite driving songs in reality - so I have to put it on my custom playlist for Gran Turismo 5!

Digital Assassins - Lock It Down.

Great stuff! :sly:

AWESOMNESS! Thanks - I shall check it all out :D.

Ugh, no music while driving?

I have a mix of all music genres in my PS3 so I'll be listening to pretty much about everything. Music gives you a rush in racing games!

i HATE music in games as they're all s*** and dont go well with any games IMO.

But in menu's i dont mind it on volume level 20-30 (in game options)

But i got a lot of my own mixes & produced tracks that i will have.
anyone interested go to my site :)

Opinion of course, but I disagree completely. If the game has a soundtrack specifically written for it (most RTS games, RPGs, shooters etc) then they obviously go well with it usually.
Example game's with excellent soundtracks - Command & Conquer series, Timesplitters series, Dawn of War series....
I agree though that most soundtracks which involve actual artists like EA games usually don't go with the game at all.

Only music in the menus. Listening to music while racing is a nono. You can´t hear the engine properly, wich ultimately will make you slower, since you´re likely to miss a gearchange somewhere.

And as for music, I´ll just rip in parts of my winamp list. Metal only though!

All the music from all GT games that was actually good. I'd also mix in random 30min-2 hour clips of silence so music would go on/off as I race.

Nothing while racing but I hope you can custom the menu & replay music, if so it'll probably be a bit of:

Then a bit of:

Definatly some:

And a bit more:

WipEout HD provided me with a first taste of how great custom soundtracks on a PS3 game can be, and so I can't wait to start making some for Gran Turismo.Although I always race with the music off, I reckon there will be ample time for simply enjoying the driving experience - taking in the gorgeous scenery from the cockpit of a finely tuned Veyron, or from the plush interior of a brand-new Audi R8, I can think of several songs that might go perfectly with such an experience.

For cruising around Cote D'Azur in an Aston Martin, there's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "Space March" by John Barry; For posing around in a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, there's "Crockett's Theme" by Jan Hammer; For hotlaps, or going head to head with a friend in two player mode, there's "Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood; For taking out a classic car on an empty racetrack, there's "The Real Me" by The Who... I can see myself making a playlist based on each of these themes/songs :)

And, of course, tons more, including The Resistance by Muse when it comes out next month, and the rest of my Best of Dire Straits CD :)

Wow.

You really thought deeply about this - and after reading your post, it inspired me to visualize some more "fitting" songs for GT5.

"The James Bond Theme" for an intense race [being able to switch songs mid-race as if you were changing songs on a CD would be INCREDIBLY cool!] as you are entering the last lap, the main theme of "National Treasure" or a selection of greats from my collection of Gran Turismo soundtracks for the endurance races, the entire "Days Of Thunder" soundtrack for NASCAR and the "Drop Zone" soundtrack for WRC.

Let me marinate a bit about this and I will get back with some more good stuff. :sly: 👍
