“In the black of night-murder...”
Just when I thought I was out they suck me back in...Race b. Somehow flunked a better qualifying lap after about 20 minutes of hotlap. Felt good and went all in. Got pole position. Merc, Veyron, and Lambo on the grid.
Veyron overlapped me into t1 and got by clean. Lambo all over me and lap 2 got a run down the hill and took my inside away. Race was stressful.
Lap 3 I think final turn Veyron gets in marbles and runs wide and Lambo gets good exit and I am right in his slipstream. Pull out and past before the kink but the Veyron still has the edge. We were 3 wide for a moment. So we come towards the braking zone in first chicane with Veyron myself and the unshakeable Huracan right on me.
Veyron misses his brakepoint and locks up! I slip into first just like that.
Excellent driving by the fella in the Huracan. He almost had me under braking a few times but drove perfect. He didn’t quite get enough overlap but he was just squeezing the pressure onto me. Got away from him up the hill through the Esses with an entry I pushed hard and nailed.
Then I give up the room I gained in the right hander at the bottom by going in a touch hot and have to layoff throttle and barely make the turn onto the rumble strip. Guess whose on my bumper?
Through the chicane we go I bicycled pretty good but no wall contact from either of us so I had the race in hand with a good final turn. I broke just a hair early and made sure I could throttle early coming out and he was right there but couldn’t get the run on me through.
Wow, I am still a bit shaky. Really really good race. I need to work on driving under pressure like that more.
Good times. Have fun and drive clean!

The Fords are a real issue at Bathurst when you are racing B and C DR drivers.

The A drivers can control them but at my standard you get stuck behind them through the mountain which backs you up into the countless Fords behind you.

Then on the straight you watch them all fly by.

I refuse to use it and quite often try and use fuel saving to get by them in the pits. Just a pity it seems so over powered at the moment.

I am definitely not able to drive the Ford and I am at that level. Can’t get on with those brakes!
The added weight to the rs01 has pretty much rendered it too slow in my hands. Rs01 was my favorite car in the game with the 86 a close second. I dunno what I am gonna run gr3 next week...

I just don’t like the feel of it (and the fact I try to stay away from whatever is popular)

I’m a low B driver and this week I have mainly raced in the Peugeot (easy to control through the twisty bits) and the AMG Merc which - much to my surprise because it looks like a beast - I seem to be fairly consistent in lap time wise. I usually struggle a bit with the powerful FR cars

I’m low b and I like the merc and the z4-haven’t driven the Peugeot much. I seem to get along with the z4 but it seems a bit slow under bop.

Bathurst on a Saturday afternoon is predictably messy, especially starting at the back. I tested the Toyota FT1 VGT this afternoon and needed an extra race again (instead of the usual 2 I have been doing per car) since in the first one I got bumped off 3 times and got timed out before the finish. Both Toyotas are crap on the mountain, the FT1 much better than the Supra, still slow.

Beetle is up next later today, that should be better. DR down from 31K to 26.3K after 6 races in Supra and FT1.

Renault R.S.01: Terribly unbalanced through the esses, I could not get a good line through there with this car.
The RS-01 is wonderful on the climb, as its aero is some of the best, but the esses are a disaster with the car. It also doesn't help that it has a TON of drag on the straights and because of that, it gets outdrafted a lot. I came close to winning at Bathurst with the RS-01, but found the Lexus RCF GT3 to be the better car for speed and stability.

First time i rage quit at Panorama. Race over race over race where i get pushed off the track at the first lap and end up at the back of the field. And losing massive DR, every race was giving a blue S. Didn't lose DR or SR by quitting the race though.... Enough for me this week with the "Daily's"...Since the update people are so so dirty, where before there was much pleasure in racing even in the back! 🤬 behave yourself... I hope there are some better races next week..

Edit: Took KP some time to update my stats.. lost 1400 DR and 3 SR.....

Anybody else get booted from the 18:10 manufactures tonight? Qualified etc. cars All introduced, saw a message about false starts will be penalized and I was holding the brakes waiting for the start and the disconnect message popped up. All other things in the house fine. Of course I am sure it won’t let me enter a later race since I entered one already. :banghead:🤬

Nice to see a familiar name too, although you must have been punished for your sins to be matched up against the lower ranks . I'm assuming the 3 cars passed because you wanted to make a safe re-entry?

I had another crack at DTS, this time with the Viper. Similar results. I did have a couple of contacts which left me with a neutral SR. I had to keep easing back because there was a group that were all going slower then me and there was no way through. Tapped someone coming out of the bus stop because lets face it, when you have momentum through there is kinda hard to suddenly slow down!

The holiday is over, back to DR/D. :yuck:
Try the Mustang and RC F. Torque monsters. Use 3rd gear for the slow corners and smooth power on exit.

Dropped from 99 to 89 in previous match due to a side by side contact. Both of us sent “I am sorry” post match. He was blue s while red for me.

So after my mistake in this race, I checked rear mirror before rejoining the race to ensure max Sr to be obtained. Even though it caused a Dr reduction.:D

Hope to meet you in daily again soon.

Why is it that my fuel consumption is always dismal, no matter what car I drive? Tried the Corvette twice on Bathurst and I'd lose two spots due to spending extra time in the pits. Whilst I may have 16% fuel when I pit, others have 30%. I change to a lower fuel map but I lose too much speed in the process and that's just as bad. This is usually when I'm paired with mostly A S drivers, who are between 1 and 2 seconds faster than me. Yet they use less fuel! How does that work? Is it a controller thing? My driving? Using automatic gears? Even when I used my McLaren 650S and started second, the guy who started first had 10% more fuel than I did when we pitted. He was in a Subaru Impreza. If it wasn't for that I would've won the race. HELP.

I notice can save a bit fuel by shifting at red line and coasting just before braking. Once I start trying to defend a position, I'm using more fuel.

It's kinda hard to change gears on a controller when your hands are already full with steering, braking and accelerating. I will be able to attempt the lift and coast method, but that's not ideal when other cars are behind you.

It's definitely difficult when others are going full throttle. When I do give up position, I usually make it up during pit stop time. Also depends how close you are to the cars ahead and the those that pass you. It can be done though.

It's pretty much you using AT. Shortshifting comes a really long way, and the Corvette not only is more fuel efficient in this method, it's actually faster since that's its ideal powerband

20BD2615-7414-4ACC-B82E-4843DF952862.jpeg Crummy pic but this was just before the kink at DT. Race spot 1 2 3. No penalties among us. For me it was very fun.

I thought it was, but I didn't think the difference could be soo major. I'll give it a go but I've been using automatic gears since always, which presents a very real challenge for me. Not easy when you can't have a wheel set up.

GR3 testing on Bathurst completed. I did 3 races per car for the last 3, which was good idea as the racing was very dirty this afternoon / early evening and matchmaking very unbalanced. A+/S to D/S rooms were standard.

Volkswagen FT-1 VGT, not great, using a lot of fuel for little in return.
Volkswagen Beetle, much better yet using even more fuel. Stable ride though.
Volkswagen GTI VGT, damn that's nice to hurl through the esses, too bad I lose so much time in the pit. Beetle is better.

The biggest you got screwed of the day
roqKS38.gif

Car in front of me bump passes the car in front of him, makes him spin out, I can't avoid, lose 3 places and get the penalty for it. Instigator goes free, confirming my theory yet again that the car that makes contact last gets the penalty.

It was chaos today in the back thanks to matchmaking making grids starting with A+ down to D then non qualifiers lined up behind them. That plays out like this, going from 16th to 5th in the first lap and a quarter.

I also screw up, bump the car in front of me in T1 while I'm paying attention to the car beside me and the dive bomb coming in from behind. In my defense, why is he stopping before the corner! There is early braking and coming to a full stop. Anyway it worked out great as the dive bomber fit nicely in the gap. Then that same early braker suddenly starts braking in the middle of the straight? Chaos continues, then I'm pretty much chasing one car for the rest of the race. Catch up at the pit, lose 2.5 sec in the pit, pass him in lap 7, finish 4th.

What's next, qualify perhaps? Still one more day of ramarama.

Currently racing with the Lexus RC F as I had good results with it and it has a good pit time. Got into the 2:05 lap times, finishing top 5, still not qualifying. Last race today, 4th place, ending at DR 29998, 2 points from DR.A!

Really hating the culprits that mess up my race. They're the first ones to exit, because they know they're wrong.

Edit:
 Now, the pole sitter called me out for being "dirty". HA!
That I "should be ashamed" for winning. Double HA! Video uploading.

Is it true that Gr 1 LeMans is coming this week or am I just dreaming ?

I have to say PD knows what they are putting together. I am sure they have been following the most popular races past last half year and putting them into the weekly.

With a very big welcome bonus with the 250GTO.

It's kinda hard to change gears on a controller when your hands are already full with steering, braking and accelerating. I will be able to attempt the lift and coast method, but that's not ideal when other cars are behind you.

I use a controller and MT. I guess I'm used to using the stick forward for throttle and back for brake (used to race RC buggies). The downside is no left foot braking ability, but it's a lot easier to recover when you can bang down gears in a hurry for a Hail Mary save or to get going again after a collision. Also means you can pick a taller gear for better fuel economy and often speed. Some of the corners you can take a gear higher than recommended and I find I get better lap times.

Did Bathurst in the Genesis. Shifting at the second yellow light, netted me 2.2 laps at the end of lap 6. Good tyre life too. Changed tyres and let go with 3.0laps(3.2 fuel reset). Jumped three cars.

Started 7th. Got a side by side 3second penalty, after T2. Pulled over on pit straight to serve my penalty. Fell to 9th. When all was said and done, finished 4th.

Here's a summary of my "daily" racing; spent most of my time on Bathurst.

Race History 13-08-18.jpg

Each day pretty much did some qualifying hot-laps with a few cars, then decided which one felt the best/fastest, and then raced.

Tuesday tried the Hyundai, Alfa 4C, Viper, and the Jaguar F-type. Went with the F-type as it felt really stable on the downhill run thru the dipper, but seemed a bit lazy on the top of the mountain.

Wednesday tried the Toyota Supra, FT-1, Nissan GT-R and the Mercedes AMG GT '16. Went with the Merc as it felt really good everywhere, but it seemed to lack a bit of speed on the straights unfortunately. The Supra was just slow, the Ft-1 handled really well but 2nd/3rd gears was really tail-happy, and I felt the Nissan understeered too much for my liking.

Friday tried the VW Beetle, VW GTI VGT, and the Aston Martin. Chose the VW GTI for two races; it's a monster on the straights and pretty good overall, but I felt laps 4 and 5 were getting a bit too slideways. Finally used the Aston Martin; it was generally pretty good but seemed to used more fuel than the other cars I tried.

One thing I noticed was that matchmaking got worse as the days ticked by (My usual time slot is normally 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm New Zealand time). Although I improved my qualifying time each day, I was really surprised to get pole 4 races in row (I have 38 poles in 560+ races).

Looking forward to Gr.1/Le Mans combo.

Share my latest race b. I was the black Veyron started at P2. A series of incidents involved P1 GTR P3 another Veyron and P4 Lambo. In the end, I and the Lambo got red s while another 2 were blue.

IMO I think all were racing incidents. How’s the system decide who are clean or dirty? Why I was red s?:odd:

PS I try to hide the names as it is not intended to blame anyone.

I think we came to conclusion in this thread about some guaranteed sr punishments in specific cases:
- your car on the outside with contact is being made
- your car hitting last a car ahead in incident, the guy that starts it gets away unpunished
- basically any contact where other car leaves the track, even if they cut the corner thru grass in attempt to overtake

The system is basically bonkers atm..

Even the one from start of the game was miles ahead imho.
