So does anyone here hunt down cars at the auction house?

I seem to be spending a lot more time looking for a deal there than actually racing lately.

Initally I went in there just to get the achievements that are tied into there.
(Out bid someone & sell a car)

My latest catch was a '70 Mustang Boss 427 which I snagged for a whopping 22,600. about 1/5 its new price. It was a level 4 car and had somewhere around 20,000 in aftermarket parts on it. I thought it was a nice grab.

I have also picked up a Bently for around 30,000 and a Ferrari 360 for around 25,000.

There are others that I have picked up just for S&G, but those were the ones that I felt I got the best deal on.

So does anyone else spend too much time there?

What are some of the deals you managed to scoop up.

Before my Live expired, I grabbed a couple LMP cars for ~200k each which was quite a deal. Couple S&G cars just because they were cheap as well.

I used to buy alot of cars that people had done up themselves from low classes like F,E.c etc up to A, S and R3., and then I would sell them immediately back to the game and get more cash than I paid for them because of all the money they had spent on upgrades. People have wised up now. Best deal I got was the R1 mazda for 10K

Shortly after the game came out I spent about 6 hours straight one saturday in the auction house. And spent most of the weekend buying the cheapest cars and selling them for more money. I was severly addicted to it. I had a list I wrote down of about 15 different cars that I could make a profit off of. By the time I was finished after the weekend I had over 15 million dollars. :sly:

That sounds like my last weekend. Except I bombed out on all of my auctions except one. I managed to win a level 0 C2 Vette for a bit less than its "new" price. It was more of an ego thing at that point. I had bid on all sorts of C1 and C2 Vettes, and lost them all but the final one.

I kept trying to snake a Ferrari 250 GTO or Dino, but the bidding went well over what I had available. The 250 is my Grail car right now. Sooner or later I'll manage to get one. (anyone want to gift me one?? lol)

I almost had a level 0 Dino, but then some goofballs came in and over bid on the car. List price was something like 57,000 and the auction ended at 65,000.

Ok so I bought a Ferrari Risi Competitone (?) from auctionhouse for 80 000 cr., but when I try to resell it to the game it would only give me 16 400 cr. Also for prizecars I won ( around 50k worth) it would give me a whopping 100 cr. only??
Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? Very confusing lol.

edit/ it just strike me, is that possibly just a fee for selling? Because 100cr. for a 50 000cr. car doesn't make too much sense... :scared:

Yes thats normal. Thats why you want to buy the very cheap cars from the AH and sell them for more money. Always look for the cars that are about to end or are priced very low. Then bid on them. If you lose you get all your money back. If you keep an eye out you can find those Ferrari Risi cars for only 20,000. Some people practically give those cars away. There is a strategy for sure. As I said a few posts back I made millions doing this one weekend.
Yes any prize car you win will only sell for 100cr. You are better off selling it in the AH for a profit. If you want to sell it instantly do a quick search in the AH for a similar car and put your price just barely under the lowest one. Yours will sell instantly. :sly:

Did pretty good at the auction house last night. I picked up two Porsches for under 20,000. Granted, they are cars that I’ll receive later on as I level up, but they were priced pretty well. So I figured wtf.

I had a good line on another Ferrari Dino and had it sitting pretty at around 15,000 till the last minute, but then the price skyrocketed to something like 75,000. I thought it was amusing as the car was a level 0 and you can buy them brand new for 57.000. Oh well, guess some people don’t pay attention to what they are bidding on. I was also watching over a #007 Aston Martin Racing DBR9 that was priced pretty low, but with 15 minutes left I decided to call it a night. I was too tired to sit through a possible bidding war. It bugs me how when you place a bid with less than a minute to go, the time jumps up to 2 minutes again.

Anyway, I picked up the ‘08 Porsche 911 GT2 (997) for 15,000 and a ‘08 Porsche #45 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR for under 5,000 with a last minute bid. I thought it was funny that I paid more for the street car than I did on the race car.

I might try to flip the flying lizard, but last time I did that with the #62 F430GT I ended up getting significantly less than I paid for it. So maybe I’ll hold on to it and run it in a couple races to get use to its handling characteristics.

I bought the Acura ARX you get when you reach level 48 when I was level 7 or so for about 150k credits. I used it for a bunch of early races even though it felt like it was cheating.

And now that I leveled up to 50, I put my second ARX up for 200k. Haven't checked to see if someone bought it yet, though.

Well I had no luck to find any bargains or even sell my #62 F430GT, but I'm somewhat glad nobody bought it, cause I really started to enjoy driving it afterwards.

Wait... 08 Porsche #45 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR for under 5,000, how did you find that? lol

It's a driver level reward, so the person probably just wanted to make a few credits off of it but didn't really care how much.

Thats what I was guessing. When I hit the auction house, I usually scroll past the VIP players to where the normal players auctions start. Its pretty amazing what kind of deals are floating around there.

Last night I went a little nuts. I ended up winning 6 different auctions last night. Most of which were under 10,000!

Last nights haul:
- 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro - 5,600
- 2008 Holden #2 Toll Holden Racing (x2) - 1 for 1,600 & another for 2,xxx
- 2005 Ferrari FXX - 9,xxx
- 2007 Chevrolet #4 Corvette C6.R - 10,000
- "A" level classic Nissan 240z - 10,000. Had over 143,000 in aftermarket bits.

Tonight I think I'm going to have to take a rest. I don't get anything done in the game when I stop in there.

Ok I get the hang of it, I guess. Bought a Holden #2 Toll Holden Racing for 6,xxx ... now I would want a Ferrari FXX for cheap, but man this is a timesink!

What's up with VIP players btw, I looked, but didn't notice any?

Yeah, I see. Tho I keep my reward cars, I didn't think you can win them twice?! Probably you can buy them back cheap tho...

I have more fun looking for free vinyls, that's pretty sick what some people made there. *Bruce Lee voice* WaataaaaH!!!

on saturday I found 4 honda NSX's for a buyout price of 5000cr. bought them, painted them, and then resold them for 20,000cr.

Best deal on selling I had (OK, only deal!) was for the first gen VW Golf. Bought for list from the showroom. Spent 5 minutes on a simple two colour design and sold it for 32000 ish!

Had a good buying deal today. I am buying the last four (expensive) cars to complete the "set". Had 19.8 million towards the Ferrari 250 GTO saved. Checked the Auction House and there was one for sale with a minute to go for a mere 11.6 million... buyout. I did not hesitate, The car has done 0 miles, but must have been used for Test Drives as I am the fourth owner and it had 143,000 in parts fitted.

Can anyone beat a saving of over 8.5 million credits?

I tried the car out as it was close to the top of Class A and it went pretty well. I have taken the car to level 5 now and it drives very well as a top of C or B Class car. As a B500 car I used it to drive my cleanest lap at the 'Ring. I also test drove it with no parts and it drove very nicely. Can't think why anyone who spent that much on a car would want to sell it.

Ugh! I want that car!!

Thats one that I have been keeping my eye out for.

Unfortunately, I never have enough credits!

Just picked up the Penski Porsche a couple nights ago for 3,000 credits. I was bidding on a couple that skyrocketed to over 40,000 . . . And no one placed a bid on the one I ended up winning. It was kinda strange.

How to you get such good deals.

My best is a 80/90's Porshe le mans car for 120,000

Why are the 8C Competizones going for so cheap? I picked one up, likely due to a glitch, as I don't have gold, for about 45,000. They're good cars.

Because they're prize cars with a 1,000cr resale value in-game.

I used to spend hours and hours in the AH on Forza 2 and got some unreal bargains all the time. I can't deal with the sluggish monster of an AH in FM3 though. It's painfully slow. Killed the whole experience for me.

How is it slow? What is your download and upload speed? The AH is very fast for me. Same with the storefront. Very fast. Maybe try clearing your cache??
And yes the best deals you will find will be on the prize cars.

I think I picked up that one for 17,000. White and blue right?

Its like I said, you pick your price and don't bid over it. You are going to lose a few auctions in the process, but soon or later you will get your price.

oh, another thing. If you are looking for a specific car, adjust your search to pick out that car or that type of car. then start searhing at the bottom of the list up to the top.

Most people only bid at the top of the list where there is only a little time left. This is where the VIP auctions are. If you acroll down, the time will increase then all of a sudden will drop to lower times again. This is where the normal members auctions start.

Thats where I usually start looking for cars.
