The problem with an H shifter though is placement. I don't want the shifter 6 inches from the wheel, where the sequential is now.

It would need to be at the side of my chair or something, and that would be hard to do.

Also, an H shifter with force feedback and gear lockout would be incredibly expensive. Same with the pressure sensitive wheel that is durable and realistic feeling... Very expensive.

Well, just the intermittent skips in the pedal from the ABS when braking just on the edge of lock would make quite a difference I think. And none of the pedals I've used have been able to convey the gradual buildup of resistance that a brake pedal excerts either (although this should be able to do mechanically), some goood FF could probably help here.

Have to agree to that. They could have made them stiffer the longer you depress the pedal. Kind of get the same resistance, no matter how hard or careful you try to brake with todays pedals.

The brake pedal is at least the one pedal you get the most information from. Would be very cool if you could feel your brake pedal getting softer as you are starting to lose brakes and such. This wheel is starting to sound very expensive. :)

Clutch pedal should not be a problem, but probarly would feel strange without H style gear stick.

lol what about the german shift pattern? its like a N. there are a few other games that a clutch can be used or you will stall <8- ) and im for games made to entertain specific crowds instead of being made to entertain everyone.

I think some old VW's had a slanted H pattern - like a left-leaning H. Reverse was 1st gear but you pulled up or pushed down or something. Obviously ligitech wouldn't accomodate all the 1-off shift patterns, they would probably just put a 6 speed with reverse in. I don't think it would be all that expensive because there would be no need for force feedback in the shifter, just a shift lockout would be enough. As for implimenting it - I think the best way to do it would be to sell a complete cockpit (like people are building on here) with the shifter mounted to the right (or left) of the chair. I would bet they could make it and sell it for $250 or $300 which is about what people are paying for DFP + cockpit anyway.

My bet - if anything like this does come out, it will come out for PS3 and GT5....so think 2012

Ferrari F355 Challenge (the full game center version) has a clutch with H-Shifter. The physics are extremely real, simulating the slip of the clutch and you even have to match the revs, etc.

I don't know if they have the game in other countries, but here in Japan it's available at some game centers. Of course, the "home" version doesn't have this realism built into the game, but since it's possible to simulate it in a game center version, I'm sure it's possible for Playstation and other consoles.

They have it for PS2 - but again, with no clutch, shifter, etc.

Have you ever looked into what the full cockpit version costs? I would bet it cost at least $5,000 when it was new, and probably a lot more. They have simulators that simulate G-forces, have 6 speed shifters with clutch, etc. etc. etc. as well, but they cost so much no regular person can afford to rent time in one, let alone buy one. So yes, it is possible, it just isn't feasible.

I know exactly what you mean mate... I've been dreaming of a fully suspended cockpit with strong hydraulics so that you could actually simulate G-forces, bumps, twitches and all that... that would be SO cool.

Well your dream is now a reallity.....If you have the money to fulfill that dream.
That simulator sounds so good, there is a review on some new sim motorsport online magazine thingy some where. Hang on I will find a link...lol http://www.autosimsport.com/ It is in that Vol 2 that is available.

And as far as a pedal set having some decent resistance, like a real brake pedal, I have had that for some 7 or so years now, in my Hyper Stimulator , I have to press extremely hard to get it to use full travel when calibrating it, It is all metal construction in the pedals or I would have broken it long ago. But no FF, not even in the wheel, but the way the springs are setup you do get alot of resistance when turning, there are six main large springs in the steering to help with bringing it back to centre and for resistance.....And I have managed to brake them all over a four year period ( I do use it alot :) ) but they weren't hard to replace....

And the DC :)

Oh, yeah sorry they have it for Dream Cast too since it was made by sega - they no longer make either version, but I bought a used version for my nephiews for PS2 because their Dad owns an F355 so I thought they would have fun driving his car - but they need all the assists on just to finish a lap
