Skip this first problem, go to the update below it, I need reactions to that:(

Ok well I got a 256MB MP3 player from a brand...Time or something, and the thing plays song s and stuff all normal but when I connect it to MY pc, the PC freezes. Sometimes it doesn't freeze immediatly but when I open it to move some songs into the thing, and it seems to lock up, I press control alt delete and it says "My PC" doesn't respond and the "Removable Disk" doesn't respond either.
Then when I take out the MP3 player from either of my USB plugins, the PC starts working again, it's like...."I am refusing to work with that thing stuck in my....." and when I take it out "Dont do that ever again!!"
I mean it's a small prob but I'm getting sooo.....tired of it:lol::banghead:

I just wanna copy some damn songs into the thing, I did it on this thing like 3 times out of 15 or something. With my Mac G5 it works fine but I dont have the music I want on the G5.

Can you guys help me...it seems such a small prob, but it's soo necesarry to get some songs on the damn thing.

UPDATE!!!!
I am having MP3 player problems again and dont think ANOTHER thread would be the thing to do, so I'm editing my previous MP3 player thread about my new prob:

I just went to my dad, my parents are seperated, and he has a pentium 1. We both love rock music so I brought along my finally working mp3 player. It had 30 songs on it, and it was all working except for some minor probs with seperate songs.
So we were playing music on his crappy PC, the songs he downloaded, and then I plugged in my MP3 player with some of my music. I opened the "removable disk" in "my PC" and tried to drag one of my 30 songs to the desktop. It made a shortcut to the removable disk, onto the desktop, but when I clicked it, it couldn't find the song anymore so I was like wtf?! So apparently it couldn't find the "removal disk" and after trying 3 more times and copying it to "my documents" I stopped and removed the MP3 player.

So we continued with his music and blablabla. Then I said "Oh, you can listen to the music through the MP3 player itsself too offcourse, not through your speakers though but well it's a very cool song".
So I turned on the MP3 player, it said "Hello" as usual, but instead of loading the numbers or doing the things it usually has to do, it says NoSong!!

I'm like "Oh god the crappy Pentium 1 erased my songs". So to be sure I put the MP3 player back in to see if the PC shows any songs, but instead of that it just showed one file called: USBCÉL[]C. (note: the [] is actually square but I cant type it, so I type the [ and the ] behind eachother).

So I'm like, "ok it is all erased except for that file, I'l put by music back into the MP3 Player when I'm home at my own PC again. *blaming the pentium 1*".
So now I'm home and I try to re-add my songs and it says:
error-when-adding-a-song
*Bleep*
Can not copy 08 No Clover Leafe. Can not create the file or folder.

This is the error in dutch. Plus it shows the only file left in the MP3 Player while I believe there were more data files like it, in there before.

I pretty much depend on you guys now. Will someone give me a solution and therefore give me back my 30,-?:(

I really hope someone can help.

It sounds that you are using USB 1.1, where you can only plug in one device at a time. Try taking any other usb devices out of your computer (Like a Usb-Ethernet adapter), and plug in the MP3 Player. :)

I used to get this on my old Windows 98 Computer when I plug in my USB flash disc to transfer photomode images over. :)

It could be a USB driver problem, try updating or it could be to do with the opperating system....

Also you never know if it could be a problem with the player itself... eventhough it is working on a mac try it on another computer if you can...

Have you tied different USB inputs? I once had a front panel usb connection that was wired wrong and it would cause lock ups, but the back connections were fine.

Give it a shot.

Thanks I will try your solutions, and then update probably.

Edit:  First thing I tried was putting it in the back USB plug in, and it was detected really fast this time and I already transfered 5 songs now in like a few seconds.
Didn't think of the posibility but so far it seems that Pako was right. Thanks m8! PC's have always been so complicated for me in the past, that I'm amazed your tips actually work, but I guess it was worth trying:tup::dopey:

It's weard though, apparently the front plug ins have been wired wrong, but it still works for my Driving Force Pro for Live For Speed and it works when I want to transfer pictures from my normal USB stick.

👍 Awesome. Just gotta get that front usb Header on the MOBO wired up correctly so you can use your front jack as well.

I'll remember it when I have probs in the future and really need to fix it, but I dont feel like spending any money on it now I found 2 USB plug ins in the back too;) I'll fix it when it becomes a really annoying issue.

It's pretty cool, I felt pretty bad about such a weard MP3 Player and now it's gone, the thing is good after all:tup:

I've had exactly the same issue on my last two PCs. I'm either very unlucky or USB port manufacturers are very shoddy (and I'm the luckiest person I know).

Edit: I think my settings.data file is gone and I need it again. I didn't remove it myself though...

Edit2: Or should I rename the USBCÉL[]C. file to settings.data? Maybe thats it...but I'm affraid that if I rename it to settings.data, I wont be able to undo that and will ruine any slight possibility of recovering my MP3 player, in case it doesn't work either:(

It looks as if your MP3 device's filesystem was somehow corrupted.

A good ole format should put the player back into working order.

Did you get this issue resolved? When I saw the Dutch OS I got scared and ran away..... I'm really not sure what the settings.data file is for. Is it located on the MP3 Players file directory or ....somewhere in your OS's file structure?
