I think something is out of order with my video card drivers. I'm using an MSI GeForce 3 Ti 200 card, the drivers crashed on the initial installation. I removed the drivers (by uninstalling them from the device manager) and installed nVidia's drivers (rather than the MSI drivers that came with the card). I noticed that when the nVidia drivers were installed, MSI tabs that had been placed in the display properties area re-appeared (indicating that I didn't get rid of them completely).
I've booted to safe mode and VGA mode and used driver cleaner - the MSI tabs keep coming back. And so does the problem...
The problem is that the screen flickers occasionally when windows has to draw a lot of text/lines on the screen. When this happens, it doesn't redraw the original images properly and fragments are left behind. It's not a huge problem but it is irritating and not something I'm willing to live with. I've independently tested the monitor, video card, and MB and have had no problems. I'm at the end of my rope on this one and am ready to reinstall the OS.
Does anyone know of a good way to track down and kill the bad drivers?
