One of the problems is that it hasn't had thousands of kms of development done to it and the data that goes with it.

Hamilton is back in the Merc for the afternoon session.

What KERS leak?

On Maldonado, he is a former GP2 champion as well as a Formula 1 race winner. There is speed there hidden amongst all the humour.

Yeah there is, but I think Grosjean is still the better of the two. And people should really stop touting the GP2 champion thing considering how long it took him to get it, the fact that any other driver without money taking that long would have been rejected if they wanted a seat for F1, and his crashes to get to that position that caused some hefty penalties before the antics of his F1 crash prone self.

Can he drive fast every blue moon, yes. Should you bet on their being a blue moon more than once a season (hell even once), no.

He's essentially Sato really.

Very very solid running by all (sans Mclaren ish) today, Williams look good and so do RBR and the Fezzas, getting interesting for sure, I can see maybe this year being a little different but still expect the Mercs to walk it.

McLaren did good considering what happened yesterday. They didn't expect to get much running done as they expected the car to break.

I'm not sure if we're far enough into testing to judge raw pace yet.

Never said he was better than Grosjean or that he immediately impressed in GP2, a lot of GP2 champions take a few seasons to settle.

McLaren seem to be making progress, slowly but surely. We'll see if the design update to the MGU-K allows them more laps tomorrow and Sunday. Other teams are at or beyond race simulation stage whilst already having a good performance understanding.

Grosjean has matured now. He hasn't made the aggressive mistakes that lead to violent crashes since he was given that one race suspension 2 years ago. Even then, his year in FIA GT1 helped settle him down mostly.

I support Button, but Grosjean impressed me on so many occasion's. That his crash's never affected my opinion about him he's fast gutsy and with the right car could be world champion i am sure. Senna also crashed alot and look how people see him now. So when Button eventually get's forced out i will Fully support the Frenchman. :D

Pastor wont be in F1 long ... when there's car's around he think's it's destruction derby

Did Williams have problems?
The Finn's programme was dominated by pitstop practice, and it was only in the final few minutes that he completed any full flying laps.

Maldonado and Verstappen used supersofts, Ericsson soft, and Hamilton medium.

Just have to wonder how much their car design and lack of cooling is playing into their part failures...
The engine is reported to have a higher operating temperature than others.

The part that failed was a seal on the MGU-K, which is a relatively minor fault.
