F1 a Pyramid Scheme?.....

The article seems a bit of a turd to be honest. You can get a better cross-section of mad opinions at this very forum, I might not agree with all of those but (imo) the posters know their facts/the sport much better.

So he rants about the restrictive rules and the insane spending at the same time? And then somehow manages to turn his rant from one against corporate greed to one against sustainability?

Granted, the new cars can't be pushed as hard over a number of laps... but that will change as the manufacturers become more familiar with the formula... as it changed for the V8s, over time.

I think it's by a lady (called Andrea) but yes, very confused and a rant justified by the obligatory "although I'm a big fan!" conclusion :)

That "pyramid" article was from the guy at Axis of Oversteer. His journalistic skills are seriously lacking but he made a decent point. I've been reading this guy's material for awhile now and it really hasn't gotten better, in any event, something still needs to change.

The racing is flat (Massa credits driving slow to his recent high finishing positions, see Singapore), there are teams threatening to boycott leaving us with 10-12 cars on the grid, and for the last few years there's a cycle of the one team dominating everything and leaving the fight just between 2 drivers.

All I can seem to think now is to the days when I was with the National series with Skip, the racing there was light years better than anything F1 has done in ages. Hard to compare a spec series to F1 but if they distributed funds down to the smaller teams and that made it so that the minnows could take the fight to the top 5-10... imagine how awesome that would be.

Thought this was an interesting article and as much as I love F1, Sochi was a real bummer. Is F1 eating itself? Like the Olympics?

Funny thing is that after watching the GP yesterday i had the same thoughts as the guy that wrote this article and posted it here:

So I couldn't agree more, i fear the sport went up the wrong road too far ago to ever get back on track again, and the rule changes FIA makes year after year to try and correct the mess that they implemented in the previous year just makes it all artificial and uninspiring nowadays. The magic is totally gone although the racing can still be good.
