It's pretty much a drag car, the harder part to believe is he got it street legal (not saying I don't believe it).

No way you could get that street legal here.

Why?

It has the full set of lights, has all the required safety equipment, the chassis isn't corroded and runs on normal petrol/gasoline. Because of its age there's no requirement for any emissions testing, or for any passenger safety belts.

It just happens to have colossal rear wheels and a 9 litre engine.

More disturbingly, what's Lovejoy doing on Fifth Gear? He knows nothing about cars at all.

maybe producers of fifth gear had too much money and didn't know what to do, so they hired an automotive noob to keep company to VBH?

It's very hard to get anything legal here in my state, the amount of engineering testing on all the components would be mind boggling.

Not saying it's impossible but it would be extremely hard if it is possible, a friend of mine put a standard Nissan SR20DET engine (2.0L turbo) in his 1984 Nissan Bluebird wagon and just for that simple swap to get legal took him over a year of engineering reports, lane change testing, emissions testing, red tape etc, cost him quite alot aswell.

5mpg on normal road use...

Thinking about it, that isn't too bad, considering the staggering amount of power it has...

you will not belive it untill you see it :scared:
and now ive seen it i still dont believe it

to go for the title as the fastest street legal car you runs have to be using 93 octane fuel on street tyres.
on that cars run it used drag slicks.
the title is still held by john sleath's audi s2

They comapre a drag car to supercars.

That's not fair.

Compare it to other drag cars, and it'll be clear you dont need 2000 hp to run a 7.88.

On road legal tyres?

Supercars are road legal. Drag cars are not. So the only thing you can compare the road-legal Victor to is a supercar.

Cheater slicks are road legal (DOT approval is the US standard) and do not really affect the 60' times relative to true slicks.

And the 1/4 mile time?

Personally I think that 7.8 on a car you can drive to and from the track without having to change anything at all is quite impressive.

One of my friends dads owns a ford capri with chevy 706ci (If I can remember correctly) and the same cage setup etc and his is street legal. He drives the damn thing all the way to santa pod from North london.

There is a street legal Mustang that runs 7.40 on a 382 cid (6.3 L) turbo smallblock (granted, he has more power, 2000+ hp).

Hot Rod runs a Pump Gas drags where lots of little guys run in the 8's after driving a 25 mile loop, with no changes. The cars all have full interior in front of the front seats, stock seating locations and steering, are fully registered, run on 93 octane, must have mufflers, and can't run nitrous or alcohol injection.

And now we're comparing like with like. Very fast road legal cars.

Kudos to that man is what i say. He's got a car there that he wouldn't change for the world, good on him for doing what he wanted!

Wolverhampton isn't too far away from me either...

It's one of the few vauxhalls i'd actually drive. Or you know be able to say 'I own a vauxhall' with pride.

I agree. There is that Eagle Talon that runs like high 7s at something over 185mph. If I remember correctly, I think he runs with M/T ET Streets, which are street legal. I don't think he drives the car to the track anymore, but I heard he used to. Drive to the track, run some 8s, tuck the chute, and drive home. Thats pretty bad ass.

I think the problem here is defining street legal. The British MOT is fairly strict so whether the other cars from around the world would pass is up for debate.

He's done a Richard Hammond.

He's now on 5th Gear and some Sunday morning light entertainment/cooking/drinking (They're drinking tequila and cockatails at 11am!?) program. It's kind of depressing really.

Hammond was always at least interested in cars. Lovejoy has no clue, other than "It's a blue one". Seriously, he doesn't even know what car he owns himself!

Hells' cars, on the other hand, are quite a selection.

I wasn't so much referring to the car show, quite the opposite. More that he's gone into several dubious areas of entertainment in order to rake in the money. For example, Hammond went into Brainiac, which was quite a success. Unlike his venture into day time TV.

Whereas Helen just wins hundreds of thousands at poker (and poses naked for Penthouse).

I'd seen Helen do a bit for greatest footballers, or something of the sort, but didn't know about the poker or Penthouse shoot.

She's not that hot!?

What?

You go to hell! You go to hell and you die!

I suppose in terms of women that have an interest in football...

[Smarmy arse git] Aren't we a tad off topic here?[/smarmy]

Slightly, but no-one maligns Helen Chamberlain around me and gets away with it.

She's the foxiest nearly-40-year-old I know of and, above pretty much anyone else on Earth, I would. Hard!

Anyway, she finished second in the pro-celebrity Poker Millions, and won $400,000.

Slightly,

Slightly? From the UK's fastest street legal car which is a Vauxhall to you and Helen Chamberlain?

This thread just gets weirder and weirder and less believable....
