StarLight Garage brings to Gran Turismo another classic Ferrari, the Formula One 321 T5 car of Jody Scheckter and Gilles Villeneuve for the 1980 F1 season.
Unfortunately the car was unreliable, slow and was not effective against the competition. Anyway it was a pretty looking car.

The 312 T5 was a Formula One car was the 26th single-seater from Ferrari that participated in the Formula One season in 1980.

The car was in fact an evolution of the 1979 Ferrari 312 T4, which Ferrari had won the drivers and Constructors Championship and Jody Scheckter then became world champion (51 points).
Team-mate Gilles Villeneuve become Vice World Champion (47 points).

Everyone expected that the whole field would be again behind the Ferrari 312 T5. However, it was nothing like that, not at all. The competitors did much larger steps in the winter and Ferrari was going from the top to the midfield.

The 312 T5 was also very unreliable, Villeneuve lost his change to a podium in the Brazilian GP. Villeneuve started from the third position, took the lead immediately, but didn't drove away from his followers. After a round, he was overtaken and fell back to the second position. After 31 laps Villeneuve had to retire when his gas pedal was defective.

The best result by Jody Scheckter with the 312 T5 was the Grand Prix of America at Long Beach, where he managed to become fifth. Those were his only points that season a fifth place that only two points worth was.

Gilles Villeneuve did not much better, but still scored 4 points more than Scheckter. Villeneuve was 14th in the championship with 6 points; Jody Scheckter was 9th with two points.
The world championship was won by Williams driver Alan Jones with 67 points.
Ferrari in the constructors standings was tenth (8 points) while the Constructors Championship was going to Williams with 120 points.
A tragic season for Ferrari.
