I was curios if there is anywhere that notes where these tracks are meant to be set.

I appreciate they are fictional, and there may be no idea if they were 'meant' to be set anywhere, but could spark discussion.

The one that I was looking for, was High Speed Ring, but appreciate there are many others.

I know someone found north Pennsylvania to be a good location for Apricot Hill, he even found a site with matching topography...

Could the cape ring be in Cape Town, South Africa?💡

It's amazing how that was the first thing I thought when I raced on it first  And it's located next to water as well, where South Africa also happens to be as well. 💡

Deep Forest is easily German, Trial Mountain is either West America or Scotland, Grand Valley...could be any real country, I consider it England. Special Stages are probably Japan, not too sure about Autumn Ring...High Speed Ring, I'm also not sure of either... :indiff:

But if you look closely at the background (I think on the straight where the jump is), you can see a chain of mountains. And as far as I know, Cape Town has this too. So that's why I made the link.

Trial Mountain is in Scotland, Grand Valley is either Continental Europe or Western USA. Apricot Hill could be Japan, SS Stages are in Japan.

Although I pretty well despise Eiger, The idea of picking a place, making it known, and designing a track was the best. There's a hypothetical track listing somewhere in another thread, it shows the SS and I think a few more. It's a track listing.

Trial Mountain and Deep Forest in South Germany?

I do think those to are close to eachother.

If the Loch Ness Monster lookalike was indeed put in at Trial Mountain, it would make it automatically a nod to Scotland.

Complex String isn't in GT5, but that would be super-easy to build, seemingly. It's almost completely flat except for the blind-esses section.

So that would put it in Kansas?:sly::sly:

That could work. My town outskirts have a crap load of empty farmland though, they should build it here :D.

Interesting thread, first impressions for me were as follows.
Cape Ring, South africa.
Deep Forest, Canada.
Trial Mountain, Scotland (nessie)
Grand Valley, USA
I really miss Apricot Hill :(

If you look closely at the background mountains you will see the shadowy outline of one conically shaped mountain whose height dwarfs everything else. This is Mt. Fuji. Cape Ring is in Japan.

As I remember from when I was at Mt Fuji IRL, it is kind of on its own, not in a chain.
Then again, it was getting dark.

SSR5/7: Tokyo
Autumn Ring: Italy, Toscany to be precise
Grand Valley: Influenced by spa with the hairpin-EauRouge thing- hairpin at the start and the Pouhan- chicane thing in the middle.
High Speed Ring- Influenced by Fuji as it has the exact same track map as the '80's version
Cape Ring- Japan
Trial Mountain- Somewhere in eastern Europe
Deep Forest- Japan somehwere where Touge is popular

The bridge from the High Speed Ring, is in Redding California. But I think it's a copy of another bridge. I think it's a giant sun dial.

The SSR7 track is set in Yokohama not tokyo, The bridge in SSR7 is this (a pretty much exact copy of the yokohama bay bridge)

As for the others, I honestly haven't a clue although Grand Valley has something rather USA about it's grandstand on the main straight.

EDIT2: After some more research and looking at the signs on SSR5 of which I found one stating 'metropolitan expressway route 5' a check on google maps shows this to be in Tokyo so...

SSR5 - Tokyo
SSR7 - Yokohama

:)

If you all remember Trial Mountain has a MONKEY in the tree in it so I would think that might indicate somewhere in Asia...Singapore perhaps....💡

Is Singapore even big enough to have a valley? Probably not.

Have you forgoten that the lock ness monster is just visible in the river? It's Scottish I'm sure.

I believe the special stages are American, if you look at the road signs they're in English

Wrong sir. Read the bold print.

All original tracks are supposed to be located in Japan.
Cape Ring especially is apparently located on the japanese Izu Peninsula. You can even see Mt. Fuji in the background.

There are monkeys in Japan too, especially In mountain areas. A notable example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_macaque

High Speed Ring was originally supposed to be a Fuji Speedway lookalike!
