I've noticed that the two Suspension kits and Weight Reduction typically always produce the same results ...

Sports Suspension increases spring rates by 50% and decreases ride height to 83-85% of original ... i.e. 3.0 kg/mm to 4.5 kg/mm ... 150 mm to 125 mm ...
Semi-Racing Suspension increases spring rates by 80% ... i.e. 3.0 kg/mm to 5.4 kg/mm ...

Stage 1 Weight Reduction reduces weight to 98% (under 2732 lbs) or 95% (over 2732 lbs) of original weight
Stage 2 Weight Reduction reduces weight to 95% (under 2732 lbs) or 92% (over 2732 lbs) of original weight
Stage 3 Weight Reduction reduces weight to 92% (under 2732 lbs) or 89% (over 2732 lbs) of original weight
Racing Modification reduces weight to 89.1% (under 2732 lbs) or 85.4% (over 2732 lbs) of original weight
(Give or take a few pounds)

Example: Volkwagen Golf GTI 1.8T ... Stock - 2724 lbs ... Race Mod - 2429 lbs ... 2429/2724 = 89.17%
Nissan Silvia Spec R ... Stock - 2733 lbs ... Race Mod - 2332 lbs ... 2332/2733 = 85.33%

So, while the Silvia weighed 9 lbs more stock, because it's just barely above 2732 lbs, it ends up 97 lbs lighter when fully tuned ...

Also, if you're early in the game, a 2% drop in weight isn't going to do much, so invest in power/drivetrain/suspension/tires if you picked a car under 2732 lbs ... A weight reduction would have a much greater effect on say the '93 Supra Turbo (3417 lbs to ~3246 lbs) than it would on the '93 Miata (2160 to ~2117 lbs) ...

This holds true for every car I've tested ...

Anyone else discover any hard rules of GT2 ?

Wow that's pretty cool. I'm a math freak too, and i'm currently trying to perfect a logarithmic way of using pound / power ratios during races so that almost every race becomes more competitive. If you go by my system, it actually makes more sense for most cars to be heavy (except for lardos like the BMW 840 Ci, Jags and Astons, and almost all the muscle cars).

What i don't get is: how come you can remove so much weight in GT1, but GT2 it's really only worth buying weight reductions on the heaviest of cars (and some middle-weights) or if you wanna get the race body. I remember in GT1 the Viper could be lightened all the way below 2,200 pounds! I been talking about this on my website for months now: with lots of cars you really don't need weight reductions. In fact, my opinion is that some of them (Lotus Europa comes to mind) it's better to keep the weight ON the car, since removing it destroys some stability and the car tends to hop around more.
