Anyone else having issues with this update? Mine has been crashing instantly on start up and goes straight to crash report screen..:ouch::grumpy:

Yeah, I use Memory Fox to keep it from crashing. The latest Flash update has been killing the browser(flash 11 was released before Firefox 8) since I'd guess it's using too much memory for the little 32-bit program. I'll have to try on the nightly build of Firefox 8 64-bit(good thing is that it installs separate from your 32-bit browser).

Edit: Been testing the nightly build of Firefox 8 64-bit and I can now actually stream 720P video again! Unlike the 32-bit version the 64-bit is holding to a lower amount of RAM use from what I notice. Though you could just take my word as a grain of salt as I've not been testing this for long as it has only been 14 minutes since I downloaded the 64-bit version. But it's looking good so far. I'll have to test it some more tomorrow.

Well, I haven't had any luck sorting it out this far, so I'm just going to use it in herp derp mode..

Firefox 8 segfaults on startup for me, on Slackware Linux 12.2 (32 bit). I just restored Firefox 7, or more accurately, copied FF7 from another machine.

When the next version comes out, 8.01 or whatever, I'll give it a shot to see if they fixed it. If not I just extract the tarball again. No big deal.

Pretty annoyed at Mozilla because they said Firefox 8 would be the release which would bring the first finished 64bit version and no I don't want the nightly builds.

Now they have gone back to saying, oh maybe later like 10 or 11... How many years have we had 64bit processors?!

There's no real benefit for 64bit browsers though, the 32bit version will perform better for the most part.

I've been using firefox 8.0 64-bit Nightly Build for a while and it uses less RAM(282MB right now. It would of been in 400MB in the 32-bit version). I've had no crashes yet and I can easily watch flash video without any crashes or waiting for the video to load(downloading a file was fine in 32-bit firefox but any type of flash video was slow to load and I encountered many errors about flash crashing or 32-bit firefox 8 crashing). So far I'm loving this 64-bit version of Firefox 8 even if it's a nightly build.

There have been some reviews saying the nightly 64 bit build uses less ram and runs faster and smoother so it might be more beneficial. It's bizarre they don't go and release it when its in such a near finished state.

The 64-bit browser's flash crashed last night but versus the 32-bit version where I was having a ton of problems it's quite good. In the two day span the 32-bit version would of crash flash more and stall the web browser while the 64-bit was just rolling along with very few problems.

I stopped using firefox. It crashed so many times when multiple tabs with flash and java. It was not bearable anymore.

That's when you shove out one build after and other, week after week without a QA.

And I loved Mozilla.

I am now using Opera.

They may be trying to go down the path of chrome.

Since chrome is what on version 15 and it is still a baby in the browser world.

Wait, wut? What happened to Firefox 4, 5, 6 and 7? Last time I checked a few short months ago, they just released Firefox 4. Hell, I'm still on Firefox 3.6.

They have been doing a new version with new features each month instead of releasing them as updates.

Personally I think they are trying to be like chrome a bit too much.

chrome is on what version 16? and it is about 3 years old.

This to me shows that your browser really is crap to be pumping out a so many new versions in its short life.

So Firefox told me the other day that a new version was available, and I went ahead and allowed it up update. It worked fine, no problems at all. Curious, I checked the version and it's 8.0. Not 8.1 or 8.01 or anything, 8.0. Supposedly the version I had had that didn't work.

So I compared the good version's files with the bad version's, and indeed some things had changed (I'd have been shocked and amazed if they hadn't, heh). So it looks to me like they released a new version but kept the same version number. Not a big deal, obviously, I just thought it a bit odd.

It's been working great on my computer so far. Flash crashed a few hours ago, but it's been great so far. Upgraded from 3.6 or something, and it's working great. I especially like the app tabs. Clears up clutter because I always have three sites open.

I'll definitely try it myself, currently on 7.0.1 and so far this is the worst... Only today, it has crashed 2 times and went on to 'Not Responding' for numerous of times when in Facebook. Never happened in 6, but it's been haunting me in 7.

...whereas I had no problem whatsoever with FF6 or FF7, but the first edition of FF8 didn't work for me. Ah well.

FF has been funny since the latest full release.
I've switched to Nightly(11.x) and other than a few add-on conflicts, it has been the best mozilla experience I've had in years.

I use the latest Firefox without any problems. It works far better than say, IE.

Perhaps those of you that are having problems just need to wait a bit for a future update which would resolve the issues.

Almost a week after the update and so far it's a whole lot more stable than 7. I think I'm happy with it 👍

I rarely get issues with my Firefox with flash and I view alot of flash based content.

So what are you guys doing to your Firefoxs?
