fond memories of my first GT game

I remember coming home from school after it came in the post (back in the early days of Gameplay UK), fired it up and bought myself a lovely 91 Honda Prelude.

Those were the days...

The best car on GT1 was the Mits GTO MR fully turned it has 930hp it 4wd and if the setup is right and the gears are close its the fastest acceleration with great cornering, have a go I promiss its the daddy!

It's OK but I think there are better cars, I drove the Twin Turbo version but I prefer other cars, Supra, Nismo 400R, Cerberra to name a few. The S14 Silvia is a well balanced car, raced GVS and didn't pit until lap26. The rear near side tire was going red but only a little and I didn't spin then but I didn't think it was worth pushing the tires any further. I was already in 1st place and had caught upto the back of 4th, an Imp, when I decided to pit. After that I lapped the Imp and actually lapped 3rd & 2nd as well, an R32 and NSX repectivly, before I finnished the race. I don't think I have ever done that before, not against cars that on paper were better than the one I'm driving.

Bummer, work does get in the way of racing doesn't it.

Too easy to win in this car and the 900+ Skyline. I prefer trying to win with pure skill.

I agree, espeically endurance races. Which is why I have raced every winnable and some that you don't win, car at GV300, some are easy wins, some are close wins and some don't win at all. I had a terrific race with the Castrol Supra against some hard compitition, and only gained and held the lead in the last quater of the race. After the first few laps I thought I was destined for 4th, but then I started putting consistent lap times together and 1 by 1 I passed the cars ahead.

I find fully-tuned FC RX-7's, race-modded if allowed, about the right balance of manageability and challenge for the enduroes and Hard-Tuned Series. Another pleasant but not too overpowering car is the Nissan 180SX'94. I'm not sure I ever tried a race-mod version.

I realized I have a summary GT1 Enduro log here...

Sorry in advance: this is getting way off topic, but we're all friends here, rite? :)

The other day I did the Grand Valley 300KM in GT2 with an Acura Integra GS-R (non race modded but with soft tires) and won against a Venturi! What it came down to was better cornering (on my part) and strategic pit stops. The Venturi obviously has more speed and handles the corners pretty well 'till its tires are on their last legs, so I programmed my front-drive car with the L2 button to be the emergency brake, and therefore I could take the corners a lot tighter! I won by like +.347 seconds, too...afterwards I felt like I was on a cloud I was on such a vidoegame high!!

1. '95 Acura Integra GS-R | FF | 368 hp | 2453 lbs.
2. Venturi Atlantique 400 | MR | 411 hp | 2535 lbs.
3. RUF Porsche BTR2 ..... | RR | 426 hp | 3196 lbs.
4. TVR Cerbera 4.5 ...... | FR | ?????? | ??
5. Lotus Esprit SE V8 ... | MR | 356 hp | 3042 lbs.
6. '99 Dodge Viper GT-S . | FR | 470 hp | 3375 lbs.

I don't know if GT2 modifies the weight & power of these cars the way GT1 did, so all the above specs are what you'll find in a stock version of each.

In laps 59 and 60, the Venturi was right on my tail. By the time I got to hairpin #2 at the bottom of the hill, I was safe, tho...he couldn't keep up with me thru all those chicanes.

I found that the Cerberra handles the course well, even though it appears under powered it can drive the corners and blaze down that straight.
