Forza Horizon 4: General Pre-Release News & Discussion

I'll admit some of the merged model decisions I made are questionable and a result of expediency, time crunch, and lack of knowledge about certain models. The good thing is that the original data is still there unadulterated and my input method allows me to easily go back and correct specific counts. So please do give me that feedback on which models should be separated or combined. Researching the models is pretty educational.

On the Demon, I'd defend counting it separate from the Hellcat because it's such a purpose-built machine (an argument I'd accept for separating the Stingray and ZR1 votes I combined for the C7). I'll take a look a the SV Project 8 and probably separate it. That's one I didn't look at closely enough. On the Pantera covering both the 1970s and 1980s... my gut says keep them together despite the slim vs widebodied-whaletale being as different as facelift generations I separated for other models. I'll look at the requests but in that case I think I encountered a lot of "Pantera" without model year, which makes it difficult to decide which generation the user was thinking of. For model requests without years I usually added them to the most recent generation, but sometimes got a sense from other models in their list that they wanted a certain era.

Yep, newest/fastest versions are always high on the list. I suppose that's a good reason for me to post the full ~4000 model list instead of just the top 500, to give everyone an idea of all the old and oddball cars the community has requested. I'll do that after some tinkering this weekend.

I'm in a similar situation. My other half has broken two fingers about two weeks ago and how much work shes going to have to miss is unknown at this point. Knowing that disability might take a while leaves us in a tricky spot, but this should be doable, and I get paid the day of release.
Sorry to hear about that. I hope she's not out too long and heals up quickly.

Thanks for that. It's really not a difficult situation yet, it's not knowing how long that is the tricky part. If needed, I can pay all the bills alone, but it'll be extremely tight at that point. She, however, is in the dumps because not only is she out of work, but her bicycling hobby is put on hold too. That and she absolutely hates surgery lol. She'll be fine though.

I think at this point Mitsubishi is doing so poorly they can't even afford games anymore.

I thought it is the other way round; manufacturers receive royalties for having their cars featured in games, right?

Should also be noted that there's a car on there that I don't think has been seen up to this point in any of the leaks:

Ford Anglia 105E.

In which case it makes even less sense, considering their financial position...

Sometimes the money goes one way, sometimes the other. Sometimes it's an "understanding" where money may not change hands, but both parties, for lack of a better word, do each other favours. It's all very fluid and case-by-case — from what I've heard, anyway.

It's not terribly surprising. The newest car in the franchise from Mitsubishi is a decade old. Mitsubishi is a current marque, not a classic one, but the only interest most gamers have in their wares is from the past. Maybe Mitsubishi didn't want to pay to highlight its lack of interesting modern machines, or if MS is the one paying, maybe it offered less than previous contracts due to the company's lower perceived value. We'll likely never know for sure.

I have a feeling that like Toyota, the bolded is probably the most likely scenario. But of course, it's obvious then that Toyota turned right around and inked an exclusivity deal for their non-race division vehicles to be in GT and GT only, which goes to show that Japanese companies still don't know, and really don't care about pissing off international customers, but that's a rant for a different day.

Judging by their move to remove every regular passenger car in favour of crossovers and utility vehicles in their lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if Mitsubishi are trying to distance themselves from (street) racing games.

Toyota is moving towards more enthusiast cars with the GT86, upcoming Supra and other models which are expected to be given the GRMN treatment. Inclusion in racing games would have been great exposure for these models, especially the Supra. But then again, they could be solely relying on Gran Turismo for this.

Some notes:
- Some obvious cars seem to be missing (2018 Type R, 2018 GT3RS, Aston Vantages). Maybe those are in the day one pack?
- Nice to see some heavy cruisers FINALLY getting the environment they deserve. The M5 E39 and E60, Audi RS6s, RS7 (finally!), and a few others make so much more sense in the open world than on Motorsport and they're finally getting what they deserve.
- This list puts us at 459 unique cars unless there are any livery duplicates. I'm guessing we'll have around 20 or so Forza Editions to put us at around 479 total.

Indeed, but as said, it's not the first time that Japanese companies have shot themselves in the foot with a boneheaded business decision. And it's pretty obvious that neither Polyphony or Toyota are coming clean with the fact that there's an obvious exclusivity deal in place, which Porsche and EA at least were willing to tell us.

Have a good feeling that the 2018 Type R, 2018 GT3 RS, 812 Superfast, and the other highly requested modern cars that were either done in FM7 or left off the initial car list will be the Day 1 pack. Seems to be the best way to kill two birds with one stone.

We just can't seem to get the Alfa Romeo Montreal in a Horizon game. Lamborghini Jalpa is gone. So is the Subaru 360. Mazda Cosmo, Honda S800. We didn't get the BMW 328 or Alfa Romeo 8C 2300. The Holden Monaro 327 GTS looks to be FM6 only. We lost my two favorite Volvos, the 123GT and 1800E. The VW Type 3 is absent as well. A lot of good older cars, the kinds I really enjoy, just didn't make the cut.

On the other hand, there are plenty of new cars to play with. Anglia, Peel, Spitfire, Minor, Two Austin-Healeys, and not one, but TWO 1931 Bentleys will keep me happy. So it's kind of a wash.

Okay, I'm back. The vintage open wheel cars are welcomed and it seems both Fiestas Rally Cars are indeed confirmed. It still makes me happy to notice the Mk.1 GT40 being thrown in that car list, that makes it complete for me. The downsides on my end are the lost of the Dodge Shelby Omni and there isn't even a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus to take its place. Honda once again not having any Preludes, Peugeot 405 Mi16 not comfirmed yet (saw this coming, hurry up and finish it!), and the 1995 SVT Cobra R Mustang is once again gone.

Oh and I guess the LH Porsche 917 shown in the leaked files was the 917/20 (darn I was hoping for another 917, I'm getting a bit greedy I guess ).

Um, why did you list these on your "missing cars" list? I see them on the official car list.

I kinda feel like that's exactly what's happening. This smells of Sony getting involved, which if true, would be a new low for these Japanese companies.

The Talbot is on the list. @TheOE is correct that the Volvo 1800E and 123GT are not on the list. (although he is wrong about the S60 Polestar and 242 Turbo. They are definitely on the list.

That's a valid point. Mitsubishi doesn't seem to embrace its past for some reason (I read an article a few years ago with an engineer of their WRC program claiming they were told to sell the cars to privateers at the end of a season instead of keeping them in a museum or a warehouse) and their current products are... erm, not great.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that some of the missing cars are going to end up as Forzathon prizes eventually, like in FH3.
