I was so excited to try Horizon 5 on my Playseat Trophy with Thrustmaster T248 but even with settings found online i feel like the game is worse on wheel.

I'm using the 900° rotation and i can't catch a single slide. Second i touch grass or dirt with car even with gas let off the car spins. It's frustrating more i play. I feel like i'm fighting with steering to get where i want to and T248 is slow to get wheel back to center.

Also AI feels funky they crash more when i play with wheel but second i touch the gamepad they act like they forgot how to drive 😒

I understand that most of these issues could be blamed on me as skill issue but i never thought that playing with wheel would be so hard. It makes me a little sad inside because GT3 RS is comming and i guess i have to earn it with gamepad then.

Holding slides on a lower powered wheel is not easy. The only advice I have for you is to reduce rotation down to say 450 degrees and practice spinning the wheel yourself to help it counter steer since the motor in the wheel isn't powerful enough by itself.

I really thought it would be a step up from gamepad but it feels toy-like. Pedals are nice but the wheel rim is small, mostly plastic and light yet it won't turn fast even with Boost setting enabled in TM Control app.

The wheel is fine for circuit racing where you need accuracy and control. But drifting is a whole different thing- it needs midrange or high end wheels with enough power to spin the wheel fast enough to simulate an actual car: just watch how fast the wheel spins in a real car while drifting.

This is a short example. He controls the wheel sometimes, but lets it spin when needed:

You can adjust, though. Just get used to spinning the wheel yourself to help it along. Then you can enjoy the accuracy without hating the maximum spin speed to much,

So I just looked back through GTPlanet's forums looking for answers as to how much warning FH4 had before new cars dried up--turns out that game got next to no warning before FH5 was announced. The very next Series after the reveal was also the final one with any new cars. If Fable's at the Game Awards with a firm release date, I'd expect the end of new cars to come right after that announcement.

Predicting next months reward cars is going to be very tough, as previously pointed out.

No real clues on what's coming at all.

Not sure if Secret Santa will be returning either since it's not on the teaser cards (and last year, it was teased)

Also - since this is a holidays update, its very likely to be 2 updates in 1, like the previous couple of years.

Last year we had Winter Wonderland followed by Community Choice. I don't think Community Choice will be returning as no poll has been made for us to vote on (like last time)

So potentially we have (assuming a minimum of 4 reward cars per update)

Series 40 Reward Car #1
Series 40 Reward Car #2
Series 40 Reward Car #3
Series 40 Reward Car #4

Series 41 Mystery Theme

Series 41 Reward Car #1
Series 41 Reward Car #2
Series 41 Reward Car #3
Series 41 Reward Car #4

@Digolgrin You'll have your work cut out for you this month haha!

There should also be another Christmas special car (or cars) like the last 2 years, yes?
Seems unlikely - as the Christmas special cars were a part of the Secret Santa event. As I pointed out above, doesn't seem like that's coming back for this year unfortunately. We'll see though.

You're damn right it'll be difficult to predict all this, lol. I'll have to go at this one month at a time.

I will say this though: I think we're at the end of New-to-Forza cars for this game. Or at least we're close to it. Holidays Mix-up will probably be either a straight remix of the Horizon Holidays Series (which was, I think, FH5's first real content update?), which would mean no new cars at all (the fact that the Spring reward car is actually a Hard-to-Find with the 992 Turbo S being in a Exclusive Event does point to this being the case), or we get a Playlist that's just nothing but returning or New-to-Horizon cars, with maybe one New-to-Forza if we're lucky. I'll hammer out a preliminary prediction soon, but it's gonna have to be a hell of a reach.

One solid prediction for now though: The Showcase Remix will be of the Volcano monster truck race. We've had remixes of every other Showcase this year, and I get the feeling they'll want to use it one last time. Would they use the Warthog for it or would they want to use a new car for it? That's the only question.

I think one of the Secret Santa rewards will be a Revuelto. Other one might be an Mc20 or something.
I gave up on the MC20, if it was going to be in this game it would have been about a year ago when it was leaked and even shown. The Revuelto would be nice though

Alright, so preliminary prediction time. After refreshing my memory on Horizon Holidays, I came to the conclusion that, while Holidays Mixup certainly could well be the first Playlist remix, it won't be a 1:1 redux--the Sian Roadster, its Secret Santa car, is now in the Autoshow, on top of Secret Santa, of course, seemingly no longer in the picture for Holiday Updates in general now that we're in End-of-Life. 'So how are they going to handle this?', we must first ask ourselves.

Well, I simply looked back at the Holiday Update before that, Year 1's Holiday Special. Its Secret Santa car happened to be (ugh) the Peel P50, which hasn't appeared as even a Hard-to-Find since Horizon Anniversary, and, most importantly, was never added to the Autoshow. If they want to give post-Series 13 players a chance to complete their collection of the crappy little red devils, then this update would be the perfect opportunity to bring it back as a Hard-to-Find--most likely as a Series Reward. Whether that's for 160 points or 80 points remains to be seen, but I do think this car will absolutely return next month. The other two Secret Santa reward cars that haven't been added to the Autoshow or made Hard-to-Finds also stand a good chance of either appearing as Hard-to-Find rewards for Seasonal Championships or Series Reward Hard-to-Finds, but I won't factor them in yet.

The Playlist itself... there's no sugarcoating it, this will be a grab-bag update with no real theme linking them. There's two possibilities in my head, considering new cars have been teased; one is that this update will consist entirely of New-to-Horizon and returning cars, with one New-to-Forza car around Christmastime if we're lucky, and the other involves a mix of New-to-Horizon, returning and New-to-Forza cars, like we've been getting over the last three months. I'm going to assume the first for now, and revisit the second at a later date--it seems like our most likely bet considering the circumstances. For this prediction, I'll be running with the very loose theme of 'better late than never', basically cars that are supremely late to the party and would be seen as welcome additions.

The Holiday Grab Bag ('Better Late Than Never' Edition)
Series Rewards: 1962 Peel P50 (80 points), 2019 Aston-Martin Valkyrie (160 points)
Summer: 1993 Porsche 928 GTS (The FOMO 928 appeared late in FH4, it should only stand to reason it would appear late in FH5 at this point. I would assume this to be the headline car, if only because 'better late than never.')
Autumn: 1995 Ford SVT Cobra R (I know, this is an SN95 simp talking, and yes, this is another Mustang, but again, the whole loose theme I've been running with is 'better late than never'. This is a car I'd love to see make the jump to FH5, even though we have the Terminator Mustang around to basically supplant it.)
Winter: 2022 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato (This being Christmas week, we're almost certain to get a Secret Santa reward car equivalent around this time. There were four contenders in my head for this--one was the Sterrato, of course, the other was the Koenigsegg Gemera, with dark horse contenders swooping in in the form of the Maserati MC20 and Lamborghini Revuelto. What ultimately pushed the Sterrato over the line for me was the addition of the 911 Dakar; if we're getting one off-road modification of a VAG legend, then why not the one everyone's been asking for, its stablemate? Also, expect the Gordon Murray T.50 to reappear here somewhere.)
Spring: 1998 Aston-Martin V8 Vantage V600 (Making the jump from FM2023 to Horizon at the potential end of the road. This feels like exactly the kind of 'highly requested New-to-Horizon car' that would appear at the end of potentially the second-to-last Series with new cars, and it'd be a neat one. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it!)

As for FH5's future beyond this Series... it's certainly clouded to me, but here's what I think. If FM2023 gets in on the 911 60th anniversary celebration as well, then it'll signal that from the Holiday Update on, Forza will basically act as a united brand. If something happens in FH5, it will be safe to assume FM2023 will either do similar, and vice versa. They might've tried this already with the Jordan Camaro in Hidden Horizons, since that was a Forza-wide collab. In other words, it's possible FH5 will be on a light form of life support, getting some carryovers from FM2023 here and there while coasting on Hard-to-Finds. If not, then we're back to square one.

So, for the Horizon crowd, it looks like we're absolutely getting the 992s first. FM2023 is getting NASCAR Cup Series cars to go along with Sunset Peninsula, to commemorate the end of the 2024 NASCAR season presumably, while FH5 somehow manages to squeak by with two GT racers and (very likely) a rally monster. Think FH5 got the better end of the deal in this case, lol.

Forza Motorsport is getting an Aussie-themed Update 15 around Bathurst too, so no Porsches for them this year.

Yeah, that sounds like a V8 Supercars update if ever there was one. It also definitely raises questions about what'll come after Holidays Mixup, on Horizon's side of the pond; if FM2023's not getting these 992s for at least two months, then what lies on the other side of 2025?

Performance Level and Car Category for the 992s:

2023 Porsche 911 Dakar/Rallye: A 800 Rally Monsters (To be expected. Although, this makes it the highest PI car in A-class Rally Monsters that isn't a Forza Edition--and its stats show that it basically absolutely destroys everything else in its class. Only the Hoonigan Escort you get from the first Showcase comes close, and even it doesn't have the top speed.)
1730836856706.png

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 R: S1 890 Extreme Track Toys (Again, not unexpected, this places it at around the expected category for the GT3 racing grid. The BoP gives it slightly worse handling than the 991.1 GT3 R, but again--BoP ensures everything is on an even playing field on the grid. Just means we now have to wait for a 992 GT3 RSR, huh?)

1730837074927.png

2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S: S1 857 Modern Super Cars (As expected, grandfathered into Modern Supercars alongside the other 911 Turbo S, the 2014. Unlike the 2014, though, this car acts as a fun balance between the higher-key GTs and the bigger supercars in the category. Top-of-the-line acceleration on par with the PHEV Jaguar C-X75 and fellow ICE-with-surprising-acceleration Huracan Evo will certainly give this 992 a fighting chance against the big boys on tighter circuits, but obviously don't expect it to win out on a straight.)
1730837502736.png

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: S1 867 Track Toys (Loses out against its sibling, the 991.1 911 GT3, in terms of top speed and acceleration, and the pre-facelift 991 GT3 RS has it beat off the line, but makes up for it in handling and braking--top-tier brake performance, in fact, only challenged by Alejandra's Vocho and the Elemental RP1. Not gonna touch the vastly superior 2018 GT2 RS (which should have been in Extreme Track Toys, fight me) in most metrics, but all around a solid choice for circuits.)

1730837952364.png

All in all, solid update from first blush! I'm likin' what I'm seeing and definitely can't wait to get my mitts on these. The Dakar practically defining A-class Rally Monsters is... a bit unexpected, but to be fair the Sterrato would probably either equal that or jump across the border to S1, so we'll have to see.

PSA: Some of the DLC packs are in BOGOF deal in UK Xbox store:

The deal includes:
Apex Allstars
American Automotive
European Automotive
Chinese Lucky Stars
Super Speed

Yes, that does make five which is not divisible by two 🙄

And yes Apex Allstars is twice the price of the others making it the odd one out...

I've picked up all but Chinese Lucky Stars. It would have been better if they had included two £8 packs and included the Italian Exotics pack or Universal Icons or Fast X as well.

But then I would be sad 'cos I just spent £16 on them. 😁

Seriously though, I'm sure they'll be cheap as David Dickinson's tanning lotion soon enough.
