GTPlanet: Must-Have title for 2015

Forza 5, despite being one of the most impressive launch titles yet seen, wasn’t a must-have title for a lot of people. It’s not entirely the game’s fault, as it was a follow-up to an incredibly strong title from the last generation (Forza 4).

Forza 6 rights nearly every criticism levelled at Forza 5, doubling the car count and nearly doing the same for the tracks, while further improving the physics engine. Not only that, but it adds the much-requested weather and night features while maintaining its commitment to 1080p/60fps. The career progression is a little linear off the bat, the weather isn’t dynamic in the face of the competition, but you’ll be having too much fun in this love ballad to the automobile to care too much. Forza 6 is firing on all cylinders, and this is absolutely a must-have title for 2015.

Digital Spy: 5/5

Forza 6 is a terrific game. It misses a few minor beats, with yet another career mode that throws you straight in there, and good god the serious attitude of the game is sickening at best. But this is one of the best driving simulations out there: it's the game launch title Forza 5 really should have been.

We're a bit spoiled for choice in great driving games this console generation, and Forza 6 screeches in and finds itself a place at the head of the table with consummate ease. Your move, Driveclub, Project Cars and Gran Turismo.

Press Start: 10/10

The Forza franchise is a prime example of a franchise that not only builds upon its strengths, but also learns and adapts from it weaknesses. Whilst Motorsport 5 served as a stepping stone onto current generation hardware, Forza Motorsport 6 excels and takes what the franchise has learned to form a racing game that is not only full of content, but also challenging and incredibly addicting. Building upon the foundations laid before it and applying a fresh new layer of features and visual effects, Forza Motorsport 6 might be a serious contender for 2015’s racing game of the year, if not the prime contender.

The Sixth Axis: 10/10

Forza Motorsport 6 is beautiful, meticulous, dramatic and generous. It is arguably a faultless piece of driving software, and on top of that, Turn 10 have definitively proven that the Xbox One is an exceptionally capable machine when in the right hands. Serious racing fans owe it to themselves to experience Forza 6, while franchise stalwarts may find that this is the next generation Forza they were waiting for.

US Gamer: 5/5

The real magic of Forza 6 is that it transports you into what feels like a real racing environment. It just looks and sounds so convincing, and drives so incredibly realistically that it delivers a genuine white-knuckle experience. Whether it's finessing an oscillating muscle car around a tight corner, or driving a wound-up Indycar around Daytona at full chat, Forza 6 offers a smorgasbord of racing that few other games can compete with. With an expansive and interesting Career mode and the bonus Showcases, its massive Rivals mode, Leagues, and free play mode that enables you to race whatever and however you want, Forza 6 is broad, deep and utterly, utterly brilliant.

Gaming Age: 10/10

I am absolutely enamored with Forza Motorsport 6 thus far, and I’m looking forward to spending even more time with the game once it launches next week (particularly for leagues and online play). There’s so much to do, see, buy, and unlock here that I’ll easily spend upwards of 100 hours or more with this entry. And it all looks, so, so pretty, with so much attention to detail across every aspect of the game that I still find myself constantly stunned by it. The controls are spot on, and perfect for virtually any skill level to pick up and play. It’s also a technically sound experience, outside of some lengthy load times between tracks. I think Turn 10 has done a commendable job with Forza Motorsport 6, and it’s a game that deserves all the positive accolades I’m sure will come its way soon.

Next Gen Gaming Blog: 10/10

From the menus to the racing, everything about Forza Motorsport 6 screams quality. Never since the days of Gran Turismo 2 or 3 have I been hooked by a racing game like this. It’s so damn slick. Whether you’re a racing aficionado or have a passing interest, it’s craftsmanship has to be applauded. Hell, the Drivatar technology alone deserves a huge amount of praise. That combined with the depth of content and immersive handling model will keep you coming back for more. There’s no better racing game out there. This is the benchmark now. If you own an Xbox One, Forza Motorsport 6 is an essential purchase.

Destructoid: 9.5/10

For me though, it was enough to outright bring me back into the racing fold. I found myself racing for hours, racking up credits, ferociously buying new cars to add to my garage, and cursing at my friend's Drivatars. Forza 6 is the new king of simulation racing.

EGM: 9.5/10

By taking and improving on elements from the Horizon games, re-vitalizing the Career mode, introducing new modes like Leagues, and adding night and rain to the gameplay, Forza Motorsport 6 is without a doubt the best game the series has seen yet. If the franchise continues to grow and change at this rate, then it’ll be a welcome sight on the annual list of autumn game releases for years to come. For this season, though, Forza 6 is a must-play for all racing game fans.

Multiplayer.it: 9.5/10

God is a Geek: 9.5/10

Indeed, Forza 6 is a content-rich and superbly tweaked version of the motorsports title we’ve fallen in love with over the years. The simulation racing has never felt so real, the roster is once again magnificently abundant, the visuals truly breath-taking and the new rain and night driving a treat we’ve been clamouring for for so very long. It’s a spectacular package that meets the high expectations of race driver wannabe’s the world over. If snow and sleet were added to it, it’d be perfect.

Every Eye: 9.3/10

Canadian Online Gamers: 9.1/10

Given that Forza Motorsport is a game that releases a new iteration every two years, I really wondered how Forza Motorsport 6 would improve the franchise, and after playing it over the past week I would have to say that it has improved in many areas. From the handling to the visuals, the number of in-game cars, to the addition of night and wet-weather racing. Oh, and we can’t forget the robust online features either. I really tried to find something I wouldn’t like with this game but I couldn’t. At this point in time Forza Motorsport 6 is the definitive sim/circuit racing experience that is accessible to all levels of racers on the current generation of consoles.

XGN: 9/10

IGN: 9/10

Like a big bucket of Hot Wheels brought to life, Forza Motorsport 6 is first-order car porn for the automobile obsessed but remains an accessible and exciting racer for those who just want to drive fast in something red with a horse logo on it. It’s spinning its wheels in a few areas but what’s here is undoubtedly some of the finest racing you can find on console and easily worth the upgrade from Forza 5.

Game Revolution: 4.5/5

The genre-leading multiplayer experience that Forza has earned a reputation for has returned with improvements. You can still battle for top leaderboard spots and engage in thrilling online races, but now you’ll have the option to participate in online leagues that provide a fine-tuned experience where players feel compelled to win. Made better, a feature-rich spectator mode has been added to provide those waiting for a race to finish with an opportunity to watch the race and gives broadcasters a new method of coverage.

It's fitting that the 2017 Ford GT was chosen as the feature car for Forza Motorsport 6 as both of them are refined, beautiful, and stand out among a sea of competitors. Forza has always been great, and with this release it’s better than ever.

Barring a few technical concerns, there's absolutely no reason Xbox One owners have to not purchase Forza Motorsport 6. It's brimming with content and gives you oodles of control to tailor the experience to your skill level and preference. You might not be a fan of racing games but Forza Motorsport 6 does an admirable job of trying to change that.

XET: 9/10

Dit is een must have!

Shack News 9/10

Forza Motorsport 6 is what I always wanted a next-gen driving game to be. It offers beautiful visuals, a wide variety of options, and uses real-world physics to dictate how vehicles perform. I could easily see myself playing Forza 6 for several months, or even years. I've never experienced a driving game with this level of polish, and it's unlikely anything will unseat it in the near future.

Turn 10 has again delivered one of the ultimate racers of the modern era, and continues to establish itself as a leading developer in the racing arena. Forza Motorsport 6 is a spectacular machine that makes perfect use of all its components. It incorporates familiar elements with those that may have seemed superfluous, but only serve to solidify this franchise as a frontrunner in the genre. Packed with content, modes and customizability, Forza Motorsport 6 is a grand evolution of a decade's worth of racing under the Microsoft banner.

Gamespot: 8/10

As merely the second installment for the Xbox One, Forza Motorsport 6 not only keeps up with the high bar set by Forza 5, it capitalizes on that foundation of quality. The Mod system and the weather effects are reasons enough for Forza 5 enthusiasts to seriously consider this sequel and the abundance of difficulty and assist options makes Forza 6 an immensely accessible driving simulation for newcomers.

Polygon: 8/10

With the loss of some of its personality, Forza Motorsport 6 sometimes feels like a little less than the sum of many much improved parts, and there are certain quality-of-life changes that feel increasingly overdue. But these are only distractions, bumps in the road that make Forza feel "just" great when looked at from a distance. And in the playing, Turn 10 feels like it's found its line even more effectively.

Gameinformer: 7.75/10

It's not a contradiction that Forza 6 is as fun as it is disappointing. Its faults and omissions do not make it a bad game or one that veers dramatically from the franchise's path. But what exactly is the series' philosophy? We've seen the career mode change from iteration to iteration, with the developer unable to define where it wants to go and therefore build upon a foundation in successive years. Turn 10 talks about its passion for cars, and that's evident on the track, but players have to feel it elsewhere, too.

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/f.../2015/09/08/game-informer-forza-6-review.aspx

Gamesradar: 3/5

I love everything else about the game. Having real-life Indycar drivers and Hammond / May from – sorry, formerly from – Top Gear introducing classes is wonderful. Warm, engaging and often funny, they add much-needed personality to the action and the result is clearly a AAA package. The car customisation options are predictably amazing (and you should see my pure gold-painted Ferrari F40, which looks so classy it hurts), the circuit selection features hit after hit of real world classics and the sensation of simply travelling forwards is wonderful. On the rare occasions you hit 200mph, it's magnificent.

The speedier, grippier classes like the Grand Touring series really show what the game could have been. But when Formula E became available and the first race was an 8-lap slog around Indianapolis, I wondered where gaming went wrong. I found myself sitting there, stony-faced, maintaining 138mph, in the lead, with no need to brake, and no chance of being passed. The frantic orchestral music and pounding drums reached crescendo after crescendo as I spent ten minutes of my life gently nudging left. Racing games are better than this and we must never forget that.

AngryGameCentaur: Buy!

The Verge: Just Buy It!

Still, these are minor quibbles in the scheme of a truly magnificent game. It is beautiful, extremely deep, and has enough modes and features to keep you entertained forever. (I haven’t even mentioned the multiplayer modes, including Forza 5’s "Rivals" and full-fledged leagues that are matched to your skill level.) If you liked Forza 5, you will love 6. Heck, even if you disliked 5 there’s a good chance you’ll like 6, if for no other reason than the fact that it’s the new standard-bearer for graphics realism on the Xbox One. As I said from the top: just buy it.

Autoblog:

Forza Motorsport 6 will to appeal to a lot of gamers, whether they be casual or serious racing fans. But more than any one group, FM6 going to lure in those who were disappointed by Forza 5. This is a far more complete, entertaining, and engaging game in every way. Not only does it finally deliver a reasonable car and track listing, but it offers a wide variety of experiences outside of the career aspect. There's still room for improvement, but you'll be hard pressed to find another title that can so easily suck in hours and hours of your day. Forza Motorsport 6 will be open for owners of the $99.99 Ultimate Edition on September 10, while everyone else will gain access on September 15.

Autoweek:

Turn 10 also improved existing tracks with more detail like Watkins Glen.

The increased number of racers in a race should be good, too, though we didn’t try that out in our short introduction to "6." Also, look for “showcase events” like autocross, long-distance racing, rivalries.

It’ll be a big improvement in many ways over the previous "Forzas Motorsport" and looks like it’ll be well worth your $59.99 come Sept. 15.

Woot! Just what I wanted to hear.

It's a mostly positive review, of course they had to bring up Project Cars dynamic weather but they seemed to not like how night racing didn't portray cars headlights bright enough.

I found their comment odd about how they didn't like how night racing was just a lowered track temperature... I mean... what else is supposed to happen?

I've thought the night racing has looked pretty good to be honest. A few of the lights and dash could be brighter but I think that is a design decision to make the game more fun to play rather than blinding us. We'll know if a couple of days!

That Gamesradar review... just wtf?

Also Gamespot has one negative and takes two points... lol.

That one negative point?

"Replays still run at less than 60 frames per second"

Interesting that most of the review sites have mentioned that it's a significant improvement on the sparse FM5 yet when you look they still gave FM5 high scores. For example IGN gave FM5 8.8 and the significantly better FM6 9.0. More proof that we shouldn't really believe all we read from these sites.

Wait 'til Tom "Click" Chick gets hold of the game for Quarter To Three.

I am surprised by the scores, but an 89 on MC is mega.

Interesting to see how people who've played this compare it to PCARS which I felt was a letdown.

A great set of scores

I was always going to enjoy it anyway, seeing as its pretty much just a bigger FM5 which I like very much

Good though to see that the reviews back up what I was thinking. Roll on Thursday :D

I do hope that dynamic time/weather is in the cards for FM7.... The negatives of most reviews do list that missing little bit and rightly so.

Unlikely, dynamic lighting is major system strain and I believe FM6 is already pushing xbone to the max, putting it in would mean dropping resolution, track detail, grid sizes and overall graphics as well as having jagged shadows. Just look at Horizon 2 which despite running at 30 fps has much worse world and car detail than FM5 even, with much simpler shaders. I don't believe dynamic ToD/Weather is in the cards for this generation, Xbox 4 most likely, unless they aim at 4k.

Good scores...have to laugh at the people getting upset due to it not getting 9s or 10s lol.

I seen one review say no tracks have rain or night together? Is that right?

Yeah one or the other but not both together unfortunately.

Yeah one or the other but not both together unfortunately
From my own POV I hate driving/racing at night. I'll put up with it of course (no choice ) along with the rain
if it's scripted in career mode, but if I get to choose its always 1-2 in the afternoon and nice and sunny

Funny how in real-life racing rain is seen as a pain in the bum yet in gaming world its seen as desirable

From the ones I've read so far I don't think anyone has even played it will a wheel never mind reviewed it with a wheel in mind.

I guess he's on the defensive due to all the hate he's getting on the GamesRadar site LOL.

It sounds like he's comparing the game to some mythical perfect product that has yet to be made rather than assess it on the merits of what they've actually been able to achieve.

I think the Games Radar review is a pretty fair piece of work and I'm not really sure how he can be getting so much hate when the overwhelming majority haven't played the game yet. He tells us what, in his opinion, is good about the game and what is less good. Isn't that what he's supposed to do?

I suspect people are objecting to his equating what he finds wrong with the game to a whole forty percent off the maximum mark when no-one else seems to be doing so.

Grid made a lot of compromises of its own to achieve its pretty damage visuals so it seems unrealistic to me to just cherrypick the best bits from other games and expect Turn10 to add them on without compromising image quality or frame rate. One might as well wish for DriveClub's visuals at 60fps.

It sounds like the real gripe fans have with the Games Radar scoring system is that five stars is perhaps too coarse a scale for them when compared with 1-100%.
