wow, 2 modern supercars as rewards, both 'new' to Forza:

Now I'm tempted. The Artura (V6 hybrid, totally new stuff for McLaren) is interesting, it's just that I don't want to have to race all those hours to claim it :S

Edit, the AI changes are actually massive:
Drivatar AI [All Platforms]
  • Fixed an issue where AI would move laterally into the player when driving alongside them on a straight. [1812911]
  • Fixed an issue where some cars would unexpectedly swerve just after the race had started. [1824231]

Both of them will significantly improve the quality of life racing the AI.

These fixes and features are good and all but my god why are they not giving us some more decent cars in these updates? The Huracan Evo spyder, really T10? Out of the hundreds of other mid engine classics, road cars and race cars and the many dozens of cars ( not trucks or offroaders) in FH5 yall can't come up with something better than this drip fed nonsense? The Mclaren is meh, at least that's 1 coming from FH5 but damn will we ever get more than 2 "new to FM" cars in this game in an update?. My bad for the rant but in the midst of these great fixes that are coming it would be great to have plenty more non duplicate cars to choose from, particularly race cars.

Edit: I might even just skip out and not even go for the Evo Spyder to be honest lol. I'm just that damn disappointed. I'll take the McLaren and wait for Update 13...

Other than making all these tour/challenge hub reward cars available to buy and rent in Free Play, Turn Ten also needs to ramp up their volume of cars introduced per update.

There are tons of cars from FH5 they could port over, as well as returning cars from FM4 and FM7, alongside with whatever new to Forza (as in completely new cars) they plan to introduce.

Assuming licensing wouldn't get in their way, they could really go all out instead of just hand over like roughly two cars per update.

I was no longer interested when the Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder was announced. Adding the Temerario would seem like a year or two away as it is a recently-introduced car in the real world.

Wait a minute, there's another car if you spot the VIP Spotlight cars: The 1998 Porsche 911 GT1-98 it's not in the game at the moment.
And it's not the 1997 Strassenversion, so it's the race gt1 one?

It is the Strassenversion, this is the second time they’ve listed it incorrectly in patch notes.

Some good fixes and changes in this update:
  • Challenge Hub (No need to grind Career for cars)
  • Featured Multiplayer Spec Series (+ GT4/TC shuffle, and Formula Mazda shuffle)
  • Private Lobby Spectate
  • Private Lobby Weather (basically the same as Forza Motorsport 7)
  • Rivals Fuel (this will shake up Rivals meta a lot in some classes, and bring it in line with race meta)
I hope previously exclusive cars will eventually show up in Challenge Hub, as the long/dull Tours are why I didn't bother unlocking most of them.

I spend almost all my time in Featured Multiplayer so more car unlocks is a win.

They need to bring back open track day. I would practically live there.

I feel rather underwhelmed by this update. I'm already looking forward to next month when we get Sunset Peninsula. These even numbered updates, when we don't get any new tracks, always feel rather stale, if you ask me. The challenge hub is a welcome addition though.

Doesn't this update contain three new cars though? Aren't we getting the widebody vintage Camaro as well? Still too few, but atleast one more, right?🤔

The Luka Camaro is a free addition through a promotion so technically yeah. Tried it around track and it's actually not bad driving wise but still we still could have used another half dozen cars this update. I have got used to getting a track every other month but we need more than just 2 cars a month that are not duplicated either.

Do anyone expecting more than just new track next month? Is Forza now 1 year old? I hoping for some big changes maybe Forza 2.0 with upgrade to graphics. But maybe my expectations are too high.

No I don’t. I can assure you your expectations are through the roof rn. Update patterns rn are one month less content and more fixes and QOL. Month after is content heavier

Very, very disappointed. Two cars, one a duplicate for all intents and purposes and the other ported over from FH5. Can we really say "2 new-to-Forza" cars? Quite a stretch, tbh. Playground Games know how to keep players interested. T10 have really gone downhill. Why not at least have DLC packs if you don't want to hand out free content?

I would pay for a DLC pack right now in a heartbeat considering T10s past car packs were reasonably priced, even in FH5. 7 truly NEW cars for about $10 would not be bad right about now. I'm really thinking they are having many issues with licensing and possibly scanning of cars that they do get ahold of. There has to be a legit reason as to why we are getting so little cars and nothing truly new-ish race car wise, I'm not going to call them lazy but issues they haven't worked around yet.

I dont think anyone would be happy if they release dlc rn

This is where I'm at after being a completist from day one and with the next new track being Sunset P which for me brings nothing different to the game, I'll only bother playing now for a car I really want.

I'm sure we're not the only ones. You could be right when you say they could be having issues getting licenses for certain cars. They did say they wanted Motorsport to be race car focused, didn't they? But then I think would that really be the case? Aren't they a branch of Microsoft? Somehow I can't see a powerful conglomerate like that having too many issues adding new content.
Wasn't the McMurtry Spierling supposed to be one of the Car Pass cars back in March/April? It was just replaced with the Silvia Silhouette and nothing more was said.

I honestly think the McMurtry just like the MC20 is a lost cause at least for the remainder of the year. Betting money it was licensing related either with a deal or finances and T10 just could not seal it for those two cars. They were both leaked a year ago so surely they should have been in by now.

Forza Motorsport Update 12.0 Release Notes – September 9, 2024

Celebrate your favorite mid-engine cars with Forza Motorsport Update 12. Renowned for their exceptional balance, handling and performance, you can unlock two incredible mid-engine cars over the next five weeks, both new-to-Motorsport: the 2023 McLaren Artura and the 2022 Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder.

Mid-Engine Month celebrates a new partnership with Jordan. Race the custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Edition in the Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Series and complete its 5 events to win a Jordan Luka 3 Racing Suit.

In addition to the cars and events, we have some exciting features coming with this update: Spectate Mode in Private Multiplayer, Challenge Hub, Forza Race Regulations AI upgrades, and customizable weather options in Free Play and Private Multiplayer.

Challenge Hub

Whether you prefer to race in Career, compete in Featured Multiplayer, or outpace your Rivals, the all-new Challenge Hub presents special objectives and rewards for every player, and you can now earn reward cars in either Career or Featured Multiplayer.

Forza Race Regulations (FRR) Penalty System

Update 12 advances the FRR incident data capture system used to train the AI machine learning model for penalty system accuracy. Data reported after a collision now includes many additional metrics to determine fault and severity, measuring a 300% increase in captured information. Update 12 also includes general improvements to FRR accuracy.

Spectate Mode in Private Multiplayer

Spectate live Private Multiplayer races with new community requested features. Enjoy the race from start to podium and save a replay at the end. Includes a customizable HUD with dynamic Driver List, Track Map, race data Ticker and Driver Data panel with race telemetry. Capture race action from new angles with a controllable Rail Cam and stationary Point of Interest cameras, also available in Replay.

New Weather Options

Additional weather options have been added to Free Play and Private Multiplayer. Set the Start, Mid-Race, and End Race weather types and adjust their probability percentage. Selecting Variable Dry or Variable Wet in the Private Multiplayer or Free Play Advanced event setup menus will expose these new options.

Game Content, Features and Events [All Platforms]
Spectate Mode

Spectate is now available in Private Multiplayer, making it easier for league admins to view and broadcast their official events. This initial version builds upon our previous efforts and includes new features and improvements that have been requested by the community, particularly by tournament and league organizers.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights you can expect when using Spectate to watch or broadcast community races in Private Multiplayer. As Spectate is essentially like a live replay, many of the features and options outlined below are already available as part of our recent update for saved race replays.

Full-Field Dynamic Driver List and Lap Counter – Greatly increases race comprehension, making it easy to select a car to focus on from the driver list. Positions are updated based on scoring type.
Ticker – A dynamic data loop in the Driver List. This can also be locked to show the leader's time, race intervals, position changes, penalty time, or pit stops.
Track Map – Shows all the locations of all the cars on the track map with the ability to zoom and view exact positioning more closely.
Driver Data – Choose to see a race summary of the driver in focus, including car telemetry, comparison to the leader, and damage.
True Race Start / Race End from 3-2-1 to Podium. In Forza Motorsport 7, the live feed in Spectate didn’t begin until several seconds after the race had started, which meant viewers missed much of the Turn 1 excitement. It also ended abruptly when the leader crossed the finish line. In Forza Motorsport, a spectator can watch the entire race from the moment it starts right up until either the final driver crosses the finish line, or the race timer concludes.
Default Spectate Camera – The first time you use Spectate mode, you can decide which camera to use by default at race start. This can be changed at any time in the settings menu under Gameplay & HUD.
New Camera Options – In addition to all the prior cameras available in game, two new camera modes have been added to both Spectate Mode and Race Replays:
Rail Cam – This gives race spectators controls that our cinematics team uses, like FPS camera controls that move with the focus car. The left stick moves the camera forward or backward, left or right around the focus car. Use the right stick to change the camera target left and right or move the camera up and down.
Point of Interest – Stationary cameras focusing on important track segments. Each track has at least 3 points of interest with more available on longer tracks.
Improved Control Panel for much easier access to Spectate and Replay tools.
Customizable HUD – The Spectate and Replay HUD elements are customizable to show as much or as little as you want. This gives you the freedom to prioritize between either a clean camera feed or a detailed, more informative interface.
Minimized Switch Lag – Changing the camera view or car to focus on is much faster than it was in Forza Motorsport 7.
Saving Replay after Spectate – You can save a replay from the Spectate post-race menu to view later. Please note that previous limitations for replay save length still apply and will vary based on factors such as the number of cars on track and the race duration.
Once you have tried the Spectate functionality in Private Multiplayer, we would like to get your input on how it could be made even better. You can share that feedback with us on the Suggestions Hub.

Weather Options

Additional weather options have been added to Free Play and Private Multiplayer. Set the Start, Mid-Race, and End Race weather types and adjust their probability percentage:

Partly Cloudy
Overcast
Cloudy
Looming Clouds
Thunderclouds
Lightning Clouds
Patchy Fog
Thin Fog
Dense Fog
Summer Drizzle
Drizzle
Light Rain
Moderate Rain
Heavy Rain
Rain Thunder
Rain Lightning
Selecting Variable Dry or Variable Wet in the Private Multiplayer or Free Play Advanced event setup menus will expose these new options.

Known Issues [All Platforms]

We’re aware of the following bug in Update 12 and plan to have a fix available for it in mid-October as part of Update 13:

Logitech wheel RPM LEDs are not working consistently. [1862191]
Glad they fixed the silly bug where you could only see the last race's cars in My Cars instead of your whole garage 👍
I thought they were going to add some older featured tours to Builder’s Cup. Not yet I suppose?
They said "by the end of the year".

One positive I can say so far is that the AI is nearly perfect now, still see a random brake check here and there but not as much. They are so much more composed and much less contact between them and me while racing now, this is how it should be. I have to actually fight to maintain my position now while not worrying about them smacking into me and they keep pace even better than before.

Extremely disappointed with the dripfeed of cars, seriously. I don't know if it's intentional or if they're just having issues making past cars work with the new physics but they've got to step up their game in that regard. For the few cars we do get every update, it's very sad to see one is yet another Huracan.

What a disappointment on the content side of things. The Artura is cool I guess although I probably won't use it for anything, but the Lambo is just an absolute joke. You can spend less than 60 seconds looking at the FM7 car list (nevermind FH5 or older games) and find half a dozen mid-engine cars that would actually add something interesting/unique to the game, yet we get another boring Lambo variant.

I understand licensing is complicated and maybe Lamborghini is just easy to work with, but seriously what a letdown, and hopefully not the start of a trend of getting convertible variants of cars we already have. One car being a massive disappointment wouldn't be as much of a letdown if they weren't so stingy with cars, but when our new content is so limited they need to make sure it's actually good.

The weather stuff is an improvement overall, but kinda funny they literally copy and pasted the list from FM7 that mentions lightning conditions but those don't exist in FM8. Kinda disappointing, you can only choose between "Variable Dry" and "Variable Wet" and each one is limited to about half of the available options, so you can't do something like make it start sunny, then get cloudy, then start raining at the end (like you could in FM7). Sadly no changes to how aggressive the transitions are as the track still goes from dry to full wet in about 20 seconds. Still a pretty limited system, definitely an improvement over what we had but hopefully it gets updated again, as really the weather system in FM8 a year after launch should be better than what we had 7 years ago or whatever with FM7, not almost as good.

Not sure the Touring Car/GT4 rotation is a very good thing, especially since we didn't get a new GT4 car (even the boring GT4 Cayman would have been 100x more useful than the Huracan). The GT4 class is kind of a farce right now, only 3 cars with both of the actual GT4 cars sped up to try to balance them to the VLN Audi TT, which kinda makes no sense and really comes at the expense of the GT4 character. Unless you drive the Audi, the driving experience in GT4 is nothing like the Touring Cars, so I'm guessing the regular TC guys are going to be disappointed. Really, GT4 should be scrapped until they have enough GT4 cars in the game to both make it an actual GT4-ish class and rebalance it so they actually drive like GT4 cars.

The Formula Mazda shuffle could be good though, but really they should focus on running the spec race cars, like the Huracan ST, 488 Challenge, MX5 Cup, Ginettas, and so on. If they just rotate in the random street car spec builds then big meh, as most of those builds I have tried haven't driven very well or provided good racing (although a few were pretty good, like the Mustang) and in the case of the "Rivals Month" ones, also weren't balanced well.

The Challenge Hub is a positive change, although I'm not really looking forward to having to drive in the Open series with all the meta cars and stuff, would prefer it if it was just for playing any Featured Multiplayer. Was kinda hoping it would be a mix and match thing, where you could do the multiplayer one week, then if you don't like the rotation for the next week, could go back to having the AI grind for you. The "Challenge" ones are funny though, buy a nearly 300k credit Ferrari and drive it for 20 laps for 25k credits! Also doing 5 races without an FRR penalty in multiplayer should pay waaaaay more than 25k credits given that you often receive penalty time for getting rammed.

Spectate mode is nice and all but I suspect a large portion of the playerbase will never use it. Something like manual grid order would have been a better addition as it would work for both private multiplayer AND free play (logically anyways, but knowing T10...). People in the organized league community begged and pleaded for manual grid order for years and it's something that was utilized on a weekly basis since its introduction in FM6, how we are a year into the launch of FM8 and still don't have it back is beyond me.
