Are you familiar with the Texas Mile shootout? Would you be interested in running something similar in GT5 on the front stretch of Fuji? Now is your chance! Unfortunately it won't be exactly a mile because, even though the front stretch of Fuji is almost exactly a full mile, we need a bit of runoff space to slow the cars down. So, the shootout runs will go from the start of the front stretch at the last corner, to the Panasonic bridge at the end of pit road.

Now, I know there are longer straightaways in GT5, but we need something we could regulate easily with permanent parts of the track. The start of the rumble strip on one end of the straight, and the Panasonic sign will be used for this purpose. That will also leave us with plenty of time to get the cars slowed down.

This is an on-going list, kind of like the GT5 Tsukuba Super Lap Battle that is in the time trials section, only it is be done online with regulations and a race steward in the room to watch the run and make sure it's legal. Runs can be made any time a race steward is online, or by sending them a PM to schedule a supervised run.

Sounds like a refreshing idea. If anyone else comes out with another Le Mans series I am going to freak. Count me in.

This sounds cool. What kind of regulations were you thinking of (if you were)? Like PP categories or something...? Also, all cars should be derived from stock, IMO.

Well the only way they classify vehicles at the Texas mile is by:

  • Street Legal
  • NOT Street Legal
  • Exhibition Vehicle

So not sure how we would do it here. I think it'll just be a free for all. You'll be limited to street tires (sport soft) but everything else is up to you. This really is a shootout to see who can get the highest top speed in the given amount of space. 👍

We're looking for top speed in a given distance, not maximum top speed. ;)
Considering the Veyron hits 60 mph in 1st gear, I still think it could monopolize this contest.

Since this isn't the Texas Mile, then, personally, I don't think it has to have the exact same categories. I still think PP groups could be cool: it forces people to think outside the the normal group of fast cars and choose from the seas of other ones. Who would've thought that this obscure Japanese car from the 90's would be perfect for the job? ;) And, like mentioned a few posts ago, some fun groups could be nice as well: off the top of my head, a Kei-car category sounds good.

Still, up to you. Sounds like a great idea however it goes. I'm interested to see how this evolves. 👍

Something more along the lines of...

  • Kei Cars
  • 450 to 500pp
  • 501 to 550pp
  • 551 to 600pp
  • 601pp +

Maybe break each of those down into FF, RWD, AWD categories?

Have to admit, I'm not really a fan of Drag Racing and the like, but this does interest me. May sign up later, got to think about what car I would use first.

You don't have to 'sign-up' really, and you can use as many cars as you'd like. The required info for you to post is just so I can input that info into the results tables.

So no MR/RR are allowed?

Yeah, they're kind of included in the FR. I'll change it to RWD.

Elaborate?
Oh, you know: just finding a a car in a certain PP range while having to be a certain drivetrain will definitely spark some creative thinking. It's a good thing. :)

Also, do you have any idea when these events will be?

Also, do you have any idea when these events will be?

It's pretty much an open event so you can make a run at any time. If someone would like to make a run, just post here with the required info from the first post. 👍

Count me in. No decision on car or stuff like that yet.
Any prizes to make competing extra sweet?

I thought about giving out a prize to the top speed of each category at the end of each month. (does that make sense?)

You couldn't get a prize for consecutive months though if your speed held up. However, if you got a prize for, say, August and someone beat your speed. If you came back in September and beat their speed, you could get another prize.

I will be online from around 10:30pm Eastern (USA) to about 12:30pm Eastern tonight if someone wants to make a run or two.

Or how about, say I was fastest in August and the only entrant. Then you join for September, You fail to beat my time (which didn't change) but get the September prize for being the fastest that month.
Maybe that's what you said before I am not sure.?

Damm this is very confusing!!
But prizes are only important to the winners so I have nothing to worry about.

Count me in for this ;)
