Geeeeeor
Not getting any responses on another thread I made several days ago in the main forum. Thought maybe I would try here and make a better thread title.

Sequence of events:

- Fire up the game and install 1.06 last week.

- Game will not load after that. Hit's the GT5 splash screen, then goes to a black screen and just sits.

- Reboot machine -- same outcome.

- Delete the game data file -- it is corrupt.

- Run GT5 again. It downloads 1.06 then I say Yes when prompted to install the 8Gb worth of junk to the PS3.

- Game loads just fine, but locks up in the dealerships. It could lock up when trying to view a car, or when hitting "O" to go back a screen. It's random.

- Delete game data file again -- after deletion, PS3 says there is a corrupt file there. Delete that.

- Reload everything -- same problems.

- Delete game data file this morning. PS3 shows a corrupt file afterward. Delete that.

- Reload everything again -- still locking up.

I cannot be the only one with this issue. Anybody have any suggestions, or is this happening to anybody else?

Mine 2.
- It freezes on start up before entering the game
- Other times it freezes from the start menu into the GT mode menu
- between menues
- Online gaming, at any time beside when driving. Today in an online race, all cars started after count down, mine didn't, no throttle respons, so at +30 sec it just started racing:-s
All after the 1.06 update

Yeah I have had a similar problem. After the update I did the B-Spec Formula GT Championship and on the after the last race in the inbetween screens the playstation had a huge lag time of about 30 seconds then went to the next screen. Then on that it froze and I lost all the wins and money that took hours to get:ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch: Huge pain in the :ill:

I've been having the same problem since the update. It sometimes freezes up entering the used car dealership, when a B-Spec race finishes, when sometimes entering a B-Spec race, when racing online and many more random times. Its rather annoying to say the least :(

I'm having the same problem, I just finished a spec extreme, and when I went back to my home menu it tells me that I can now watch a movie on GTTV, I select OK to get rid of this information box and then it gets stuck with the little loading icon and stays on there. I disabled my Internet connection, signed out of the ps network and cleared the cache, I checked the game data and it's not corrupted but it still freezes a that same point and I can't do anything. It's really frustrating because I can't even play the game anymore, can't get it to stop loading.

Anyone have any suggestions???

Ive been having the same problem here to too. It done it only once before the update. Since the update its done it maybe 10-15 times or so. Most of the time i solved the issue by turning off my wifi and using a hardwire. I never tried just turning off wifi. Also sometimes if i jeft at the black GT screen for maybe 5 minutes or so it would "unlock".

Mine did this during the 1.05 sometimes but never does it now..Is your PS3 old?Maybe your hard drive be a problem..

I got a PS3 slim 120gb(something like that, or the smaller HDD of the two), and it works just fine, i haven't had a problem with GT5 yet, maybe phil bell is right, maybe the old ps3.

i think most of these problems are attributed to a combination of slow internet connections and slow pd servers ( more overloaded now they have to deal with remote racing).i have a slow internet connection so loading times were almost always doubled when i was signed into psn on V1.05. Now on V1.06, loading times have easily tripled when i am connected to psn.

have you guys with the slow loading times tried logging out of your psn and then booting up the game?

Looks like you need to boot into the recovery menu of the PS3 and rebuild its database, that will fix this issue. I've had this before and it solved this problem for me. If you don't know how to do this just proceed as follows:

1. Place the PS3 in standby mode
2. Press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds, you should hear a beep
3. Keep a hold of the power button for a couple more seconds, the PS3 should shut back down to standby mode
4. Once this happens, press and hold the power button again for a couple of seconds, waiting for 1 single beep.
5. Ignore this beep and keep it pressed until you hear 2 consecutive beeps, release the button.

Then these options should pop up:
1. Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
2. Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
3. Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
4. Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
5. Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
6. System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

Try option 3…

Also something I had to realize is that when using custom soundtrack the game freezes everytime during a race, turning the custom soundtrack back to default or off solves this too. Just so everyone knows ;)

I see a lot of people here have "freezing" issues, but please tell me if the game really freezes or is just painfully slow, stuck on the gt logo screen (logo still flashing), because these are two different problems. When the game takes ages to go from menu to menu, that means the game is trying consecutively to contact the PD Servers for some reasons. The best way to solve this is either using a cable instead of wifi, or even signing out of PSN, then it will definately run smoothly. But, if the game KEEPS FREEZING or if you can't even load game data, then you might have to use my guide on restoring the file system just above. This will check and replace those corrupt files that mess up your game. P.M. me if anyone needs further assistance.

I can play in arcade mode or with another user I just can't use gt mode anymore, my ps3 just sits there with that loading icon and makes a bunch of clicking sounds, doesn't matter how long I wait it stays like that, I can't even turn off my ps3. I Really don't want to delete everything and start from scratch again, if that's the only option I'll probably just quit playing altogether.

Tried restoring the files and it still wont work, very frustrated.

again that sounds like a network connection issue. arcade mode will work fine because the game doesnt try to connect to pd's servers when you are in arcade mode. I am willing to bet that you if you log out of your psn, gt mode will load up fine

i think this is 99% of people's problems. pd servers have been noticeably slower since 1.06 and i have to believe it's from remote racing clogging up the servers

Just did this. Will try it out when I'm not so swamped with work.

There's no reason for online mode to interfere with my garages in single person mode. MY problem is not that the game is taking a long time to load, my problem, as this other person's problem (it seems) is that the game just completely freezes and becomes unresponsive. Call us 1%ers.

There is SO MUCH that IS involved with the online/server of GT in GT Life(single player mode) - think about it.... Mileage is updated to your profile with ANY car you drive, race wins are noted, Aspec driver points are even noted(on online profile in GT). Anytime you are in GT Life mode it is contsantly communicating with their server(s).

Couldn't be farther from the "truth" on that bolded portion of your statement. Hope you get it figured out, I'd go with some of the others with the signing out of the PSN. I have a "terrible" interent connection where I live, and when my system becomes massively lagged - I sign out of the PSN and the problem goes away.. :nervous:

If restoring the PS3 system files (when I did the restore, it did alert me that they were corrupt) doesn't fix the problem, I will try (signing out of PSN). I'm not sure why a single update would cause this, but that if that is the case, PD really have their collective heads up their ass, especially if it has not been addressed a week later.

Exactly true, this is the first game I played in my life that connects soooo much to the PD Servers, and honestly it seems a bit odd, but that is just a fact. It even communicates with the servers when you're not doing anything. It does communicate ...like permanently ...with the servers, so logging out of PSN gives you definately a smooth gameplay, unless you want to play online just cut the internet on the PS3 and you are good to go.

have you by chance checked out your gt5 homepage on the gran turismo website? it keeps track of all your purchases of cars and even tells you when you switch cars when in gt mode. the only way it can get this information is when you are connected to psn (not talking about online mode btw) and it communicates with pd servers to post this information on their website.

All i'm saying is that i experience the same exact problems you described but only when i am signed into my psn

I have 1mb satellite internet connection. beat that :P

I have 1mb satellite internet connection. beat that :P

.6k download & .3k upload.......... NO BS. That's the "average" it can SOMETIMES reach 1MB up/down.

I have a "small square dish" that shoots over to a hill called "Looney Butte" and then is shot to Eugene, Oregon(about 60 miles away)... It's not even Satellite "strength."

Wish I couldn't "beat" that, but I did...... FOR THE WORST CONNECTION IN THE WORLD !

that's pretty bad lol. that 1mb is the advertised speed but you know how that goes, especially with satellite. i would be lucky to get that even a quarter of the time :grumpy:

Well I guess since the PS3 says that the files are corrupt, then restoring them will definately fix the problem. I am on the other side not sure if it's the GT5 update's fault. Corrupted files can occur at times for no specific reason, might be a write issue on the hard drive, a download that was not really 'completed' and can interfere with other features of the whole system, like slowing down, or freezing a game, not loading a picture, messing up sync on sound and FPS on a video file stored on the PS3... etc. anyway let us know how you get on with your problem ;)

+1 :ouch:

I've logged out and disabled the Internet connection and it makes no difference. Like I said I created a new user and the game works fine. It's like it can't load the data from the game and it's just stuck at that point.

Hi all.

I've been having a freezing problem recently also. It's driving me nuts. First it started freezing when I went into the car settlings menu after the update where it has new logos for the new settings like weight ballast etc. When I first went in there, the screen showed up a small 'installing' logo that flashed on the bottom right of screen. The music went off and it sat there for as long as I could stand it and then I quit the game and went back in. After I went back in it seemed to work the second time. But from there it's gotten worse.

I cannot complete the Sebastian Loeb rally challenges because it does the same flashing 'installing' logo freeze when I enter the race.

My friend sent me a couple of cars and it froze when I clicked 'accept'. Then after the 1.06 update he sent me another car and all of a sudden there was a prompt telling me I had a gift. I went in there to accept an X2010 and the freaking thing froze again :grumpy:

Also the final race I have to complete in B Spec before being able to do the endurance races is the formula gran tourismo championship. Each race takes almost an hour and when I get to the second last one it freezes every time. This is SO annoying and I've tried it 3 times now.

I just completed the Indy 500 and hit level 30 A spec and tried to do the Vettel red bull challenges to try and get all gold and get the X2010 myself. I go into the track menu where you can select start, exit, options etc. I can hear the car going around the track but I can't see it. It seems as though it can't find the info on the disk it's looking for. When I press the green flag to start the race, it comes up with the 'installing' freeze again.

I have installed the 8gig (or whatever it is) data onto the PS3 as prompted when I first installed the game just before Christmas. Since then I've done all updates and have played online. I've tried logging off, same problem, but haven't tried the Restore File System option. I might try that tonight. But failing that, is there anything else that can be done? If it's the PS3, I'm happy to get a new one. If it's the disk hell I'll go get another copy and sell this one on eBay. It's driving me crazy! I'm obsessed with the game and it's ruining it by freezing all the time.

If anyone is having/had the exact same issue with the 'installing' logo flashing in the bottom right of screen I'd love to hear from you and/or if you've fixed it somehow.

Thanks so much guys 👍
