Thank you all for your input. I now realised that my ideas are not welcome here. Sorry for wasting your time, please close this thread mods.

Sounds interesting, and does have potential if Kaz decides to adopt this, or at least something along similar lines, in GT6. Only issue, maybe, is the steering wheel - I know it's all about the 'super realism', and a DS3 isn't exactly the best way to experience a simulation game, but making it wheel-only means a huge proportion of the world's GT players aren't eligible.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves playing Gran Turismo without any aids on and such, but can't afford a wheel or a rig!

oh god not another GT6 thread. When will we have a separate forum for GT6 ? It's about time no with all the GT6 threads going on here ?

I have a great idea about a game mode that should be featured in GT6 (take note, Kaz :D)

It'd be super realistic and have below features:

-Steering wheel only
-All aids off (apart from ABS + aids available in the wet)
-Cockpit view only
-No racing tyres on road cars
-Tyre wear and fuel drains faster (who does a 30 lap race anymore :grumpy:)
-Flags (if you ram, you get a drive through penalty)
-Different car classes (road cars, touring cars, Le Mans, F1)
-Realistic damage + you have a set budget to repair certain aspects of your car
-Tracks on rotation, (not just Tsukuba :yuck:) with the racing line being much grippier.

Tell me what you guys think and please post your own ideas :sly:

How about you play the game your way and stop telling others how to play, the ideas in bold would not make the game better either and are pretty poor.

A lot of these just make the game worse. Like the ones I've put in bold.

While we're at it, steering wheel only ?

Yeah, I suppose that Kaz is thinking the same thing:

-Kaz: "Hmmmmm, I should make it mandatory that players use a steering wheel"
-PD Staff: "Huh, we estimate that at least 60, 70, if not 80% of the players uses gamepads"
-Kaz: "We made billions with the game, who cares !"
-PD Staff: "Billions ? in what currency ? certainly not US dollars, are you talking about in-game credits ?"

Anyways, when I jump on my PS3, I want to play, not work.

I like it as it is, although it could be better, your ideas are way too restrictive.

Might as well add this: You should have the legal age to drive to play the game, by entering your driver's licence number...

Sigh.

I actually like this idea, apart from the stering wheel, since he said it was a game mode, it's just like Test Drive Unlimited. You could choose this game "hardcore" mode or the normal one. I honestly don't see the problem in not being able to use driving aids or the need to repair your car with your moneu. It would bring a little more realism to the game.

You can chose to not use them now anyway and you'll get sick of having to pay for repairs if you race online and idiots keep crashing into you on purpose.

Lot of good ideas there OP, don't listen to the naysayers up above me, some people don't deal well with change.

Steering wheel only is a good option but it I would also accompany it with a DS3 only option so that each type of user could limit their open lobbies or private lounges to those with similar setups. Just becomes another search tool at that point, like SRF, and also allows DS3 users to set up their lobbies so they don't have to compete with the slightly better, more consistent, performance of the wheel.

The street cars on street tires option is already a part of the game, I wouldn't want to see it become mandatory. Everyone should enjoy the game however they want to. You can already choose racing classes right now, but I'd like to see more options, like "Street", "Tuner" , "Race Car" etc.

A better damage model would be nice, but I'd also like to see a driver ranking system similar to iRacing, where drivers stats in terms of contact and finishes is concerned and then be able to limit lobbies to only certain levels of drivers. I don't play a lot of other games but I know that in the NHL series, you can do searches and limit it to players only with a certain DNF%. People complain all the time about crashers and bashers and poor drivers and a ranking system with an added filter for setting up the lobby would go a long way to resolving that issue.

A setting for max engine limiter% would be very useful. It would eliminate things like seeing LFA's in 500 pp lobbies and M3GTr's in 450 pp rooms etc. . I know it's just a game but for some of us the enjoyment is racing the cars that are naturally at a certain level of performance, not taking cars that are far superior in performance and slapping a restrictor plate on them.

More information on the open lobby rooms would also be helpful. This includes a longer typed description of the room by the host and more information revealed when you put the cursor over the room icon.

I know people think this stuff is restrictive, but having almost no restrictions on lobbies leads to the environment we have now. There are probably ten's of thousands of people that want to play this game on line but don't because of the quality of open lobby rooms and a big reason is that aren't enough ways to restrict access to the rooms. The online participation of this game is very low relative to the number of games sold. I should literally be scrolling through thousands of games to choose from and yet I see the same room names and same hosts pop up all the time. Many of the good people have been driven away in frustration.

And remember, just because some limitations are there, doesn't mean you have to join that room, nor that you can't make your own unlimited lobbies. You are still free to play the game as you choose, it just offers up more choices and more ways to play the game, and most importantly, a better kind of filtering system for keeping the riffraff out of your games.

I like the flags idea and the classes. But the rest, no. Reasons: it will put the more casual gamer off. Not everyone can afford a wheel or have space (I do have a wheel though).

One thing I want back is qualifying as its a pain starting midfield or at the back all the time.

Don't limit your thinking. If it's true as someone mentioned above that 80% of drivers still use DS3's then allowing a DS3 only or Wheel only option won't put casual gamers off because most rooms will still be DS3 only or wide open. What it does do is individual users to create rooms that better suit their own and their friend's needs, while still allowing everyone else to set up rooms how they desire. More options makes for better gaming. The more generic something is, the more likely it is that the good people will leave the game because they just can't race with others who have no consideration for anyone but themselves.

Maybe you lot don't understand. When I say steering wheels and flags, I mean it would be a SEPERATE MODE to the rest of the game. Maybe they could put it up as DLC for whoever wants to buy it.

I think that statement is very wrong forums arent here to stop people from putting ideas forward.

Anyway back on topic some good ideas there just not sure if they would work well in gt5.

They can speak their mind, they just need to accept constructive criticism. New members/Old members are all allowed to express their thoughts and opinions BUT have to realize it works the same for everyone else. No one can expect EVERYONE to agree with their idea.

On the same note, just because someone isn't getting the response from the public that they wanted, doesn't mean they should run and start deleting posts. That's the cowards way out, stick to your guns! (Directed at the OP)

A lesson for everyone.

BTW, I kinda liked the idea of the event, despite the "Cock-pit Only" rule. There won't be anyway to know if someone is using it or not. Also, there are a lot of public lobbies online that use these same rules (except damage budget and cockpit only). They work out really well.
