Gear changes?

Hello,
I have not yet played GT4:P, but I was just wondering something. The gear changes. I heard they were slow. Are they unrealistically slow, are they slow on upshifts only? Do all cars shift at different speeds? For example, the Vanquish, it has paddle shifters in real life and it shifts in about 250 milliseconds. Is this faster than an H-gate car in GT4:P?

Some cars shift a lot quicker than others...

Race cars shift in the blink of an eye... the Varis takes about 2 seconds to shift... I think the shifting is very realistic... that is for a game that doesn't have a proper clutch system.
