Good day all, welcome to my tuning garage. Here, you'll find my hybrid cars.
Usually when I build a hybrid car, the inspiration come from a car that we can find in the real world but we can't find it in GT4. Or just like other peoples did, I just make a hybrid car which has more power, more faster, more fun to drive than the original cars that we can find in GT4. The lap time I got may not be the best time, as well as the setup may not be the best setup. I just want to share my hybrid cars and you may have your best set up which suit with your driving style to score better lap time. Enjoy and have fun.

Ok, let's find my first car.

Lexus IS 430 (4.3 litre V8 - 338ps)
(inspired by Lexus IS 430 project - build by Rod Millen Special Vehicles/RMSV)

Do you remember this car?

A V8 Lexus IS build by RMSV in 2003. V8 engine, 6 speed getrag gearbox and delivered 340hp. Hmmm, looks nice and looks fun enough to drive and I think I can build this car in GT4. But I don't want to build hybrid car better than the real IS 430. I just want to test and feel the real IS 430 in GT4. So what's the original spec? Here you can find brief spec of the real IS 430:

Engine Type: V8 - DOHC VVT-i
Displacement : 4293 cc / 4.3 litre
Power : 340ps
Gearbox : Getrag six-speed , LSD
Suspension : Tein Flex 16-way adjustable coil-overs
Brakes : Brembo, F 13.9 inch - R 13.5 inch
Tires : F 225/40 - R 265/35 ZR18
Weight : 1521kg
Quarter-Mile Time:14.0 sec

Ok, first I bought the 1998 IS 200(J), red colour (forgot the name of the colour).

Next step, I hybrid it with Lexus SC 430 engine, the 4.3 litre VZ-FE V8 replacing the original 2.0 litre 3S-GE inline 4 engine. Then I try to change the wheel. Luckily, I found wheel that looks similar with the real IS 430 (SSR Professor SP1), it's the PD 0209. Hmmm, looks more close to the real IS 430. But then I think the diameter tires size of IS 200(J) is smaller than IS 430. I search the net, and I found the original diameter size of IS 200(J) is 17 inch. So, I need bigger size and need more hybriding. I found and pick a BMW M3 '04 tires which according the real spec this car have 18 inch size (f 225/40/18 and r 255/40/18). Match with the front size and not much different with the real IS 430 for the rear wide. I choose S2 tyres, because I believe it will fit closer enough with the real IS 430 performance.

Now, I tune the engine. No hybriding here. After I put the V8 inside the IS 200's hood, I have 279ps and after change the oil It increased to 293ps. So, I bought port and polished, balancing the engine and racing chip. Finally I bought the exhaust system. Difficult choice here, if I choose semi racing exhaust I got 338ps but if I choose racing exhaust I got 342ps, the real IS 430 has 340ps!!!. Which one to choose? Latter, I choose the semi racing exhaust because when I test for 1/4 mile I got closer time to the real IS 430.

After that (also no hybriding here), I bought FC suspension, racing brake kit, sport transmission (already have 6 gears), single clutch, sport flywheel, carbon driveshaft and 1.5 LSD. No weight reduction here, because the real IS 430 is heavier than the IS 200(J), 1,340kg vs 1521kg. So I add ballast of 181kg.

Setting the car now. To meet the quarter mile time, this is the set up :

Spring rate : 7 - 8
Height : 109 - 114
Bound : 6 - 7
Rebound : 7 - 7
Camber : 2.0 - 1.8
Toe : 0 - 0
Stabilizer : 3 - 4
Driving aids : 0 - 0 - 1

With the above setup, I got 0'14.046, 0'13.971 and 0'13.998. Close enough with the real IS 430 (0'14.000). Perfect, I'm happy now.

Finally, I tested it at Suzuka Circuit and Grand Valley Speedway. I got :
- Suzuka : 2'27.253
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'12.758
I believe I can sharpen the time latter because I don't have enough time today to test the car.

My conclusion is, the car is heavy enough but fun to drive. It has potential power and performance, but I don't want to tune it more because what I want to do now is just to feel the real IS 430 in GT4. Actually, I don't know if my hybrid IS 200(J) feel close to the real IS 430, but at least some of the spec and the performance already meet with the real IS 430.

PS :
1) please refer to this page to find the hybrid codes :
2) if you want to build this car, the blue colour is the hybrid parts and the red colour is the original tuning parts of IS 200(J)

Updated 10/IX/2007
After couple of days testing this car again, I got :
- Suzuka : 2'25.121
- Grand Vallaey Speedway : 2'10.667
If you reduce all the ballast/back to normal weight of IS 200 and put FC gear and adjust the suspension, this car is a great contender in Pro Events - NA Sports.

Mazda Miata 2R-300 (2 rotor - 300ps)

This is my 2nd hybrid car. It's based on MX-5 (NA) 1989. I saw many MX-5 with rotary engine. So I want to hybrid one, a rotary power, with bigger tyres size and 6 speed gearbox. This are the hybrid parts :

- Engine : Mazda RX-8 2003 (2 rotor, 654cc x 2), 13B-MSP Renesis engine replacing the original 1.6 litre B6P
- FC Gearbox : Mazda MX-5 1800 RS (NB,J) 2004, I pick this one because the MX-5 (NA) '89 doesn't have FC gear with 6 speed. I need more gear to distribute more power from the 13B-MSP engine.
- Tires : Mazda 6 - 5 door 2003 (S3), with 215/50/17 size. Looks like no more empty space for the fender after replaced the original tire size (185/60/14).

I got 210ps after change the oil. And following the original tuning parts I bought :

- Semi racing exhaust
- Port and polishing (yup)
- Racing chip
- Turbo St-1
- Racing brakes and controller
- FC suspension
- Triple plate clutch
- Racing flywheel
- Carbon driveshaft
- FC LSD
- Refresh rigidity
- St-2 weight reduction give 883kg on weight
- MA0297 wheel (Mazda 787B style)

So it delivered 300ps@7,200rpm and torque of 31.06 kgf.m@5,000 rpm. And the setup asf :

Spring rate : 6 - 7
Height : 107 - 112
Bound : 5 - 6
Rebound : 6 - 6
Camber : 2.0 - 1.8
Toe : 0 - 0
Stabilizer : 3 - 4
Driving aids : 0 - 0 - 0
Brake Balance : 5 - 5
LSD : 10 - 15 - 5

Gear :
1st: 2.218
2nd: 2.276
3rd: 1.711
4th: 1.344
5th: 1.104
6th: 0.928
Final: 4.500

Then I test the car. Boy, I love this car, it's small, quick and responsive. Little bit wild, but when you know how to handle, this car will obey you. So in a few laps I scored :
- Suzuka : 2'20.424
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'06.558
Just Again, I don't have enough time to test it so this weekend I'll test it again to sharpened the lap time.

Updated 20/IX/07
- Suzuka : 2'18.919
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'05.864

Sure Milliethemutt, I'll try to upload my save game. But don't expect too soon, work work and work makes me only have little time to touch my PS2. But I'll try as soon as possible.

VW Lupo R32 (3.2 litre V6 - 348ps)

Now my third hybrid car. The little hot and spicy VW Lupo R32. Based on 2001 VW Lupo GTI combined it with a 3.2 litre muscle. And this are the hybrid parts :

- Engine : a 3.2 litre V6 from '03 VW Golf IV R32 replacing the original 1.6 litre inline 4
- Tires : also from Golf IV R32 (S3), nice bigger size and low profile tires (225/40/18) for this little Lupo

I forgot what was the power came after I hybrid the engine. But after changing the oil and put another original tuning parts (see bellow), my Lupo run a 348ps@6,250rpm from the V6 engine.

- Racing exhaust
- Port and polishing
- Engine balancing
- Racing chip
- NA St-1
- Racing brakes and controller
- FC suspension
- Triple plate clutch
- Racing flywheel
- FC LSD
- BBS 019 wheel

No weight reduction, still giving 975kg on the weight. And the setup :

Spring rate : 4.5 - 5
Height : 107 - 112
Bound : 4 - 5
Rebound : 5 - 5
Camber : 2.5 - 2.2
Toe : 0 - 0
Stabilizer : 2 - 3
Driving aids : 0 - 0 - 4
Brake Balance : 10 - 10
LSD : 20 - 15 - 5

Gear :
1st: 2.808
2nd: 1.894
3rd: 1.360
4th: 1.020
5th: 0.855
6th: 0.745
Final: 4.200

The car can turn smoothly in every type of corners but to be honest I'm not satisfied yet with the setup combination. The car is fast, but not aggressive enough for me. For Grand Valley Speedway, so far I only scored :
- Suzuka : 2'29.295
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'12.723
So I may edit the setup, but at least this car is competitive enough in some race events.

Updated 21/IX/07
* Spring rate : 4 - 5
* Gear 2.858 / 1.887 / 1.491 / 1.164 / 0.950 / 0.812 / Final 4.200
* 0 kg Ballast but put weight balance 20 to rear
- Suzuka : 2'27.717
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'12.534

Sure Milliethemutt, I'll try to upload my save game. But don't expect too soon, work work and work makes me only have little time to touch my PS2. But I'll try as soon as possible.

No problem time wise. Work and new puppy mean little ps2 action for me.

Hey, you were here Delta Train :dopey: , thank you for coming back. I thought you'll never come again  . Don't forget your coat, or you'll get influenza :nervous:

Ford Focus RS8 (425ps)
(Inspired by Ford Focus RS8 - V8 RWD)

Ok, now the 4th car in my garage. Ford Focus with real American muscle. A Focus RS with 5 litre V8 DOHC engine (420ps) developed by Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP). However, in order to adopt this new power plant, the focus had to be converted to a rear-wheel drive platform. Sound interesting. This is the real Focus RS 8 pictures :

And the spec :

Engine Type: V8 - DOHC CAMMER (build by FRPP, a crate engine for use in motor racing and home-made performance cars, officially called M-6007-T50EA, but more widely known as "Cammer")
Displacement : 5 litre
Power : 420 ps@6,700 rpm
Drivetrain : Rear Wheel Drive
Gearbox : 5 speed
Weight : 1300kg

So I tried to build it. Based on Focus ST 170, I try to find the match engine. I need to find a V8, DOHC, Naturally Aspirated and 5 litre Ford engine with standard power bellow 420ps. None. Only 2 V8 DOHC engines have specs near to this, but not close. The Taurus SHO (V8, DOHC, 3.4 litre, NA - 238ps) or the Mustang SVT Cobra R (V8, DOHC, 5.4 litre, NA - 371ps). I tried both, and finally I choose the SVT Cobra R engine, because the Mustang engine is more responsive, came from sport car so I think it will suit better inside the Focus hood than the Taurus engine.

Next converting the drivetrain to rear wheeldrive. again I hybrid it with drivetrain code from Mustang SVT Cobra R. And the gearbox, so far I don't find any 5 speed adjustable gearbox from Ford (please let me know if someone know) so I put a Mazda MX5 '89 FC Gearbox which have 5 gears only. Finally, I put bigger tires diameter from Focus RS.

Now tuning it with original parts. Here are the list :

- Semi Racing Exhaust
- Racing Chip
- Racing Brakes
- Twin Clutch
- Semi Racing Flywheel
- Semi Racing Suspension
- LSD 1.5
- FD0223 Wheel (Ford Focus RS Style)
- Add ballast 60kg (to have 1300kg weight just like the real Focus RS8)

So I got 425ps@6,100rpm. Not bad. And the setup :

Spring Rate : 5.8 - 7.0
Height : 140 - 140
Damper : 4 - 5
Camber : 2.2 - 2.0
Driving aids : 0 - 0 - 1

Gear :
1st : 4.835
2nd : 3.262
3rd : 3.363
4th : 1.808
5th : 1.330
Final : 2.500

Testing the car, it's an aggressive car, a beautiful hot hatch, easy and fun to ride with a V8 sound. Following the time I got :
- Suzuka : 2'20.235
- Grand Valley Speedway : 2'07.418

Hey Gery....Cool Hybrids, I've a couple hundred cars like that on GT3, but I haven't seen the codes for the NTSC version of GT4 yet, so I stuck with the normal cars, I've completed the game and desperately waiting to start
building hybrids, the firt two cars that I want to build are a Datsun 510 bluebird with a SR20 Nissan motor with bigger wheels and a Mitsubishi Lancer 1800 Int. Turbo with an EVO VIII engine and bigger wheels.....help if you can please

Thank you 4 everstock, and very cool idea for the 510 and GSR 👍
I also have similar ideas, but my dream is to build GSR with Starion Rally engine and 1800sss with 240RS engine.
Sorry, I don't know about NTSC but try to pm Sucahyo or chaotica. Check this topic (post #3 and #4). I believe they know hybriding using armax for NTSC. Hope it'll help.
