But there’s also things like lacking events, rain option missing on several tracks, lack of communication and promises that PD didn’t deliver on that sure can‘t be ignored too.
Try to bring this up in any GT7 discussion and see how many people jump you🤣.
This franchise is getting carried by graphics alone, that's why most of the comments on any post focus mostly on that. Remove "cool graphics" from GT7 and see what's left.

But maybe not many people are ready for this discussion yet.

Actually that has been discussed for a long time here. There have been a lot of discussions about the nature of GT7 and everything that is wrong with it. Even people who love the game admit it is very flawed. If you don't like the game that's cool nobody is going to jump for that.

Maybe i haven't been here long enough to see that but all i'm seeing is a constant glorification of Kaz like he's the savior of racing games and things like that. 🤣

We have had people call for him to retire and let someone else run the franchise. Most of the people are really passionate about this series and only want the best and GT7 is not the best we have seen from PD. To me it's a shame because I love the livery editor, engine swaps and it has quite a few of my favorites cars but the career mode, in game economy, uselessness of many cars, poor AI and the chase the rabbit race take away from it.

You've clearly not been long enough here then.

Most of us are tired to talk about the issues of the game, especially since many of those are present since launch and PD does not care a bit.

So we let Kaz's zealot ramble.

Fair enough then. I personally can't really blame people who called for him to retire after seeing GT's current state.

The thing is, yes, those of us who are invested and on dedicated forums have our definite, undeniable issues with the game that, as @Lomic rightly says, we've all discussed to death over the last two years. Nobody's denying those, it's definitely a game that gets more infuriating the more in-depth you go with it.

But from a standpoint of sales and wider franchise reputation among non-hardcore people, the series is pretty much definitively in the best place it's been since the PS2. It keeps selling, it's widely considered a VR killer app, and general gaming sentiment towards the franchise is way more positive than it was during the endless delays of the PS3 era or the content drought of the early Sport era.

So there's zero reason for Sony to enforce a change of leadership for what has been a pretty successful product. And that's before you go into the history of how franchises with talismanic directors/producers go once that talisman leaves (spoilers: it's generally bad).

I can’t disagree more I have to say, graphics are important and sure GT7 has good graphics, especially the car models which is the most important part for me in a racing game, but there’s much more to this game.
It’s not just the graphics itself, it’s the level of detail of these car models, like having every little scratch or patches of missing paint, dents on the Ferrari 500 Mondial, the materials inside the cars looking as realistic that you can almost feel them, the paint colors, the realism of the lights are unmatched, all the individual details of every single car like the sounds some Japanese cars make when you rev too high or the abrupt movement of the needle on some old cars revcounters. There’s much more, but just check out some comparison videos with Forza Motorsport on YouTube, especially when compared to GT7 VR.
And then there’s the whole atmosphere of GT, the music, the history of every Manufacturer and every single car you can learn about, the comments of actual designers in the cafe menu, things like the world map, scapes and so on. You can like these things or not, but it gives the game a lot of soul, something that’s missing from Forza Motorsport for example (in my opinion).

And as others have said already, the game has been criticized a lot in the past, that’s almost everything you read in the forums for some time, and i critized it too and haven’t changed my opinion on these things, but there’s no need to oversimplify things about this game and say things like that only the graphics make this game good, that’s just so far away from the truth as possible and ignores all the crazy amount of work and passion the devs at PD put into this game some other developers ain’t willing to, which they always did and with which they pushed the racing genre forward since the first GT.

Edit: and also I have to mention the physics, they are on a very high level and I haven’t played a game yet in which I have such great feel for the weight of the cars, it’s overall just very good optimized in my opinion

Current state? So very negative. Aside from some occasionally odd suspension behavior since the July update there’s really not much to point fingers at. You may disagree with the creative direction and the vision of Kaz, but the truth is that GT7 is the only game I feel like spending 30-60 minutes with on daily basis month after month and year after year. I’m probably not the only person who feels this way about GT7.

So Kaz must have gotten something right despite some of the game’s identifiable shortcomings. And there’s no guarantee that the game would become better if we all got the changes we’d like to see. There’s no formula for the ideal game, and I believe some games just click with people because they focus on their best strenghts, which in the case of Gran Turismo 7 are graphics, sound and physics. PD could do so much beyond that, but I’m not convinced it would benefit the game and not distract players from appreciating the core strengths of GT7.

Game economy, roulette, invite tickets would like to have a word please. AI too but is a much difficult topic to improve.

I also play nearly everyday, but I find it very frustrating to finish each of my playtimes insulting the guy who decided the way the roulette would work, for example. And if it is after a frustrating TT session or a race where AI acts like dumb tanks on rails, the bigger the resentment is.

There are so much little things that could improve QoL without changing much to the game but no. We get stuck with ****** decisions since 2.5 years. That's frustrating, given the other exceptionnal qualities this games offer. I don't believe we would appreciate it less is some dumb aspects would be fixed.

I just dont like the single player thing or lack of career mode. That was the only thing i looked forward to ,but its pretty poor.

Apropos of nothing in particular...
FAQ
Why does GTPlanet have unusual rules?

GTPlanet’s Acceptable Use Policy applies across all areas of the website and is somewhat unusual on the Internet due to its request for “decent grammar” and the prohibition of “txtspk”.

Such rules are often met with confusion and contempt by some new users. However, GTPlanet is not just another disposable “video game forum” – it is a community and a home for thousands of like-minded people which has thrived since 2001. These rules have always been in place and remind everyone to put a little more thought into what they’re contributing to the community. In turn, this creates a more pleasant and attractive place for everyone.
There are other sites where you can exercise your desire to post dumb stuff.

Edit: Huh, weird.

Question:
Has anyone here got the ps5 pro?
If so, when you install gt7 on the ps5 pro, did you loose anything like saved replays, liveries, photos etc?
Because that happened to me in gtsport when I went from ps4 to ps4 pro. The only things I didnt loose were the replays and liveries I had shared

Yes, all my replays are gone, They hopefully are still on my PS5 and I will likely keep that offline till I can ensure they are backed up on my NAS so I can eventually decrypt the backup and access my property. Not having unlimited automatic replays locally to be able to backup and the option to have all replays backed up to sony servers for at least 30-90 days is really showing it's determent here. might even be illegal...

Good luck with that. They're proprietary telemetry files that can only be read by Gran Turismo 7, which uses the data to recreate races.

Good luck with that. Sony has had the local save file size cap in place since the PS3 and hasn't changed its mind in the past 17 years. Until it does, PD can't do the thing you want it to do.

Well the best thing you can do is go back to your OG ps5 and "share" everything. You gonna have to download your replays everytime you want to
re-watch them, but at least you dont loose them.
This happened to me in gtsport when going from ps4 to ps4 pro in 2019, and apperently there are threads here saying that this also happens in gt7 if you go from ps4 pro to ps5.
Really sad this is still happening after all this time.

I wonder if Kaz will find a new platform to share his silhouette teaser going forward. I think X has become a questionable fit considering its soon-to-be ties to state government.
Trump to Musk: "you, big tariffs on images with foreign origin".
Musk: "that doesnt work like that, but I could simply ban them".
Trump: "didnt I just say that?"

Try this method and I guess you'll get everything back. But be sure to delete all of your GT7 data from your PS5 Pro (both installed game data and save data), and don't install GT7 to it before the transfer.

This page is for GT SPORT, but this will also help you.

Are you absolutely sure that works?

I wonder how much ps5 pro's are running now because I'm thinking of buying one at the beginning of next year. Maybe when I buy and install gt7 again, the game will load faster, it seemed to run slower on my ps4 console which is weird and we have fiber optics internet which the speed should not be affected.
