Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online to Launch on PlayStation 5/Xbox Series November 11

I agree with @Marcus Garvey. This update is too little, too late. While GTA Online is far from dead player count wise, public lobbies have become a very antisocial experience. From my experience most players either keep to themselves and endlessly grind money or purely PVP.

What I've been trying to point out to Marcus that he seems totally unable or unwiling to understand is that the game can be socialable. As I said I've got a group of friends I play with regularly and we also regularly play against other individuals and crews. Freeroam has always been a warzone and was designed to be. I don't think its any "better" or "worse" than it was 8 years ago.

If you're hanging out in public lobbies expecting to meet friends you're doing it wrong basically.

I've hosted more social events than you've ever attended. If you had been around here the last 8 years you might know that. I would have to go back and look to be sure, but I'd say probably at least 45 in the last year alone. Interest and turnout in ANY social activity in this game has all but dried up. Want some empirical data? Go check out that other forum dedicated to this game and poke around the lobby/meetup/events subforum and see how social activity has dropped off a cliff the last few years. There is even a thread specific to this exact topic, car shows. A couple dozen pages from 2013-17. Two pages covers all activity 2018-current. There are four or five posts so far this year.

Dead. To folks who were here in the heyday when it was really hopping, dead. Context is important.

Hell, why don't you peruse this subforum as well and see how the activity has declined over the years. I mean, all this is clearly evident right on the pages here. That's data, not 'me and my buddy' anecdotes.

If you are arguing with me about GTAV, you are doing it wrong.

I bought GTAV for ps3, and when the wife got me a ps4, I bought GTAV for that too. Refusing to buy shark cards, I was a grinder, when it hit me one day, that's all I was doing, and it wasn't fun anymore. Stopped playing, and haven't been back, in atleast 2 years.

Absolutely no chance of me buying this game again, for another console.

Christ you've got some ego haven't you ? I couldn't give a toss how many events you've run.

All I said is that my recent and current experience of the game doesn't match your assertions, somehow you've turned that in to arguing with you and doing it wrong ?

Maybe if you weren't so pompus you'd find people more sociable?

As I said you need to grow up a bit.

I'm going to keep laughing because you still have nothing to say except that you disagree with me and everyone who has postes since. When you present something beyond 'me and my two friends experience since we got the game last week' crap maybe something you say will have value.

You have no idea how old I am. It is always entertaining to me to see how far someone can contort themselves in an effort to back out of something they said. I provided information to support my position, you provided your opinion. Facts and opinions do not carry equal weight. When you have any facts to support your opinions, maybe I'll listen. But since you keep repeating your opinion, supported by nothing, what you say means exactly nothing.

Mutliple people have replied to you, with both anecdotes to match your own along with actual supporting evidence(still haven't read those forums yet, have you?) that disagree with your assertions, and all you have to say to that is your opinion is different and those who disagree with you need to grow up?

Want to know how I know you have only been looking for an internet argument and nothing more? You haven't responded to the facts and statements anyone else here made who don't share your opinion, just the one guy you got a rise out of. You haven't even responded to me beyond 'your opinion is to disgaree.' So please, say something of value, with information to back it up as others have afforded you. Then again, you've had several opportunities to so that still haven't managed to do so, so my expectations have been tempered a bit.

I mean, I'm trying to help you here. Did you read this and the game dedicated forum elsewhere that was referenced and disagree with the traffic flow that I posted? Have you information that disagrees with the notion that the few 'social' activities available in the game are not well subscribed? Are you seeing packed clubs, arcades, and casino floors? I mean really, its all right there. How come you keep talking when you have nothing to say?

My PC version of the game bricked itself when they launched the Rockstar Launcher...but even by then, I wasn't actually having fun anymore because the core gameplay had become so monotonous and grindy. I struggle to see how they can update the game in a way that would actually make it enjoyable again because the entire point of the online mode seems to have become the creation of an environment of anxiety - constant harassment from overpowered PVP adversaries and inflation of prices versus earnings. It's basically a hellscape.

I strongly disagree, taht the game is grindy, it used to be like that, but now that you have Cayo Perico, you can make a million in under 1 hour.
So even if you cannot play a lot, you should be able to make 2-3 mil every week.

As i'm a car guy, i enjoy car meets.
Those are packed to rafters, i'm lucky enough to been invited into a crew that hosts a lot of these events, and mostly we have full lobbies. (friend, crew and public), check people like BigHeadLindo, and 2FIC gaming,

Sure there are still a lot of griefers, but every online game has those imo.

Not for nothing, but replaying Cayo Perico three times a week to make 3m, is the definition of grinding.

GRINDING means Performing Repetitive Tasks in an online gaming context. GRINDING is a term used in gaming to refer to the act of "Performing Repetitive Tasks" within a game to gain experience points, to progress through the game, or to earn money or other items.

Now, not everyone has a distaste for grinding. Some people do enjoy it, and repetitive tasks can bring comfort to some people, particularly if they get a little reward each time. So some may not consider the gameplay grindy, because grinding has negative implications and not everyone views repetitive gameplay negatively. So what someone may not think of as grindy because they enjoy it, is actually grinding.

As for how to become part of a youtuber's content; there is no need to wait until you get lucky and get invited. To join those youtubers all you need to do is like and subscribe and send a psn request after you've done so. It's in the description for their videos. Though, I'll be honest, if those type of events hosted by those youtubers you described are what folks are looking for, then the way community events have died out is less surprising as there is a significant difference in culture between the car shows hosted here and on that game specific forum and the youtuber content farming.

Maybe I'm just out of touch. Perhaps I should pass the hosting torch to someone twenty years younger. We did have a decent tour the other night, though, so maybe there's hope. Just not going to find it here.

I offered an alternative viewpoint than "hurr durr game is dead" and suggested that it is still quite social if you play in a certain way. Hanging around in freeroam has never been sociable, ever.

So now you're going to claim I was looking for an argument ? really ? its you thats been tryng to turn it in to an argument and declaring ourself as the worlds authority on the game in all aspects and fluffing your ego.

Funny thing - if the game is dead how have you done 45 events recently ? played them by yourself ?

Following this thread reminds me why I prefer a creative, well crafted, curated offline experience.

Doesn't need to be like that though, that was my point. Happened to be in a playlist on Sunday 30 players, 6 different crews, no grief or hassle. This is a regular occurence. For some reason Marcus has an issue with that, seems I dared to offer a different point of view from his encyclopedic knowledge of the game and its entire playerbase and he's taken it as an attack on his ego for some reason.

30 players? How was that 5-7 frames per second? Are you still dizzy?

At this point I'm just having fun watching you squirm.

Speculation the DLC will be dropping soon. Folks on Reddit commenting this is a really rare double-xp job and looks like it'll last 2 weeks.
All that hard work boosting high-performance vehicles is about to pay off, big time. Successfully completing any Vehicle Cargo Sell Missions between now and June 23rd will earn you double the usual GTA$ and RP.

Meanwhile, sourcing five or more vehicles by completing various Vehicle Cargo Steal Missions over the next two weeks will also land you a bonus of GTA$250,000. Doubling up and bringing back ten or more will bump that up to a cool half a million. These bonuses will hit your Maze Bank account by June 30th.

Well I wondered how they were going to 'reel' people in to do these missions during the event week, I was thinking about having a go at returning to do some of these again but my week has been fully booked up by Genshin Impact events and news about new FH5 and the new Cold WarWazrone season starts too so peace out on vehicle cargo/sales.

Please remember I am no expert in 'speculation' but since the current event finishes June 23 and the rewards come to your account by June 30th it is highly 'likely' they may plan a 1 July release for the new DLC.

This would fit with previous event weeks in that 1 July is when Independence Day DLC will be active once again so it would fir to launch the new DLC then as it also fits the update cycle for RDR II and GTA V, will defo have a look at the new content when it comers tho!

Would be nice if all construction projects were completed. Be interesting to see how certain missions play out.

So the full PS5 & SX versions seem to be out now...I guess? It doesn't really look different. Not sure what the point is. Not sure what's going on with Rockstar to be honest. Feels like some people cashed out and walked away by the state of their releases in the past few years.

The frame rate seems better so it definitely feels smoother to me. I had to put it on performance mode because the quality mode settings were too stuttery to live with. Otherwise the graphics aren't much better than the PS4 version in my opinion, especially if your TV did a good job of upscaling the old one.

People are saying the 60FPS changes make a big difference and there have been major changes to the game under the skin. Apparently, they have done a lot of work on it, so it's not the same build as the One/PS4 version. Could mean future updates introduce new things they couldn't previously. Could also mean, according to some, Rockstar will be dropping support for the old-gens quicker than expected, maybe after the usual summer update.

I think people are still discovering little changes here & there. Payouts have increased for some businesses by significant margins for the better. Cars (& overall physics) have been affected by the FPS increase, & the new build underneath now allows someone at 60FPS & someone at 30FPS to remain equal in races. This all still doesn't seem like much admittedly, so I guess it's best to wait and see what they do with it.

Your last sentence reminded me of comments I saw echoing similar feelings, referencing when Dan Houser & Leslie Benzies left despite being 2 powerful figures behind GTA's popularity.

As the long term player of GTA V/Online I bought the PS5 version at it's discount price and TBH aside from the frames rate and the subsequent changes to increase the payout's of some businesses and the slightly faster 'speeds' of HSW there is nothing that kept me playing after launch day release.

I mean it's still a fun game (at least in Invite Only) but I really don't feel it was the 'hype' that some of my friends/fanbase made it out to be.

I cant join any of the activities that were on PS4, like Face2Face, custom LTS activities, and well, you know the drill... Those kept me on GTA Online TBH lol.
