Gravel: New Off-Road Racer Coming to PS4, XB1 & PC Early 2018

@Gr4ndy Yeah that looks great in the video. A good direction for Milestone to go with this simcade, now they have this new Unreal game engine. It does look like so far only a dash cam and no full cockpit. I hope this changes as I like to see the dials and wheel when using a DS4 👍

I'm not an arcade racer kind of guy, but this looks fun!

Fingers crossed for another rally sim from Milestone now that they're using Unreal 4. Loeb Rally Evo is great and I think they could put together a great rally game with the new tech.

I'll have to play the demo, to me this looks like a motorstorm style game, and so far really only evolution has done it well, a long with the people who made arctic edge, that was better than apocalypse.

Going from what I've seen this appears to nowhere near as arcadey as Motorstorm.

Btw guys there was an off-road game posted earlier in the thread iirc that a few of you loved, was a PS2 game. Well there's a new one coming out for PS4 Xbone.

Shox?

^^^ Great watching these , they seem very player/consumer focused lately also posting clips on twitter more and more. The last clip above, he confirms it will be PS4 Pro & Xbox OneX enhanced so hopefully all in nice fine detail too. Lets hope there is a decent Freecam/photomode 👍

I'm liking where Milestone is going with Unreal 4. It seems to be helping a lot in one of their weak spots: graphics. Unfortunately, seems they still have not figured out how to make good sounds. That Celica sounds just like the cars from SLRE.

I heard it will have multiplayer capture the flag. I'm sold, haven't played a good capture the flag since Warhawk, and with cars it will be a blast. Just hope there are more people online than in SLRE.

@Brend I have just seen it is Tuesday 27th February 2018 👍 (end of video)

It's shaping really nice, I'm looking forward to this game. :gtpflag:

Graphics and game play look to be shaping up don't they. It looks like a fun racer :sly:

Cockpit view is a great bonus for an arcade, in fact it looks like there are quite a few views including rear view, dash view, bonnet etc

This is definetely the game I need in my collection, looks fun and fast + like @torque99 cockpit view is a great addition. Can you imagine driving in cockpit view through that huge drop (1:50), it's going to be great.

If there is a split screen mode, then this is the game this generation needed. Had lots of fun in original Motorstorm on split screen. :dopey:

On the one hand, I love offroading (see the car in my profile picture? It is my car). On the other hand, I hate a few details in this video:
· Courses look way too wide except for stadium and speedcross for obvious reasons. There is a middle point between "impossible to overtake" and "5-wide and comfortable", some points look wider than Pocono's main straight.
· Many games have tried and I never get tired of saying this: freeriding in a car is stupid and looks retarded.
· Gravel one-upped most games before with the freeriding: now even a freaking Safari-spec Celica GT-Four is alright too!

It is almost like some folks at Milestone looked at The Crew's raid-spec events and said "that doesn't look stupid at all, I love it!". I guess I will end up buying it anyways... in late 2018 or early 2019 because Milestone's games always take very very very long to drop the price.

What I want in an offroading game:
A sequel to BAJA Edge of Control with some modifications would be fine:
· Less grip (they corner so well I barely use the brake!)
· Upgrades related to the classes (original ones are generic and include upgrades that would get you disqualified in real life)
· Day-night transitions and upgrades related to lighting (LED vs bulbs)
· 10-12 levels, each around 16 squared miles (4x4) instead of the 9 levels of 9 squared miles (3x3)
· Some classes get unified (trophy truck & class1 --- Mini truck & fullsize truck), some change (baja bug becomes Class5 limited), some die (Unlimited VW) and 2 new ones comes up (unlimited lites and UTVs) plus the option for new classes as DLC (Class11, this time done right)
· Unlimited lites would be the 2nd fastest class and would be made of TT-Spec and SCORE Lites (both are based on the same concept: very limited engine but just like a trophy truck or Class1 buggy elsewhere), UTVs would probably similar in pace to 4x4 (Class3)
· Each level has 1 short course (TORC, LOORS, etc) and 2 long courses (2-4 minutes long each) plus extra paths for bajas
· Every single baja and long course can be done in reverse
· Racing gets divided into short course, long course and bajas (bye bye, hillclimb and open class)
· Consistent AI (whoever is fast gets picked randomly, looks stupid) with some being specialists at certain stuff
· Bajas' starting orders make sense (1 class at a time, slowest start last)
· Bye bye chopper, now bajas have hotpits too every few miles
· Baja 1000 is still around 190-200 miles long in-game but, due to the slower pace, it should take 3 hours at least

Milestone have certainly got my attention now, If you have a cheesy storyline with actors that got a passable grade at drama class, then colour me interested. :P

I'm also getting strong DiRT 2 vibes with the festival-like atmostphere and "star" drivers.
