I wouldn't think there would be any difference. As far as I know there aren't different version of GT, unlike GT2.

I remember reading at some point that there are different versions of GT1 other than the usual PAL, NTSC, and Japanese versions. The differences are extremely minor...barely worth mentioning. That's why I was hoping SportWagon would show up, he knows the answer.

Now you mention it I very remember something as well. Was it about weight conversions or something?

In North America, prior to Greatest Hits, there were two versions of GT1. They apparently differed mostly in Game Shark locations, but a few car names were different also.

I would assume visibly different versions of "Greatest Hits" would in fact contain identical software. Sony doesn't often seem to release an actual new "software version" gratuitously. (From which we can infer there was something they considered somewhat majorly wrong with very early versions of GT1--but perhaps it was just the Japanese market names for some of the prize-cars).

I would assume that all GT1 "Greatest Hits" disks would be "version 1.1". That is, I claim Sony is more likely to gratuitously change packaging (including disk printing) than gratuitously produce an actual new software version. But I could be wrong about that.

It's strange that in all the above pages I don't actually mention that the tiny "production run" numbers embossed on the hub allow you to distinguish different versions--identical numbers will be the same version, while different numbers might be the same version, or they might be different.

I listed some info at gtx...

Wow! You're the man SportWagon!

Yeah he is. I may know a lot about cars and the history of certain makes & models, but he knows a lot about the actual GAME...how it's programmed, stuff like that. 👍

Wouldn't that be a hoot? He works for PD this whole time? Well, just in case: Hey Sportwagon. We need car damage!!! I want my Countach! I want my Murcielago! Vectors are cool but WE NEED LAMBOS!!!

Sorry Sport Wagon, have I blown your cover!!!

No I don't work for PD.

I suspect people would get fired for revealing info like I did.

The closest to inside information I've ever seen was when the Saleen and Nike designer showed up on these boards.

People such as I may be collectively responsible for Sony never again consenting to allowing so easily useable a device as the GameShark Pro, however.

All I did was take existing Game Shark codes, and use them to lever into the in-memory structure of the games.

Hmm... kbarber never returned.. I'm sure the blue disc was GT1, but i have no idea about the grey one. My copy is in a 2-disc case, but I only have one disc. Where the second disc would be placed, there is a Playstation logo. I guess they couldn't fit two 64-page manuals into a small PSone CD case...
