Nope, you're a bit off. This is a seperate game it seems, a demo downloadable for the PS3.

Think of it a new "GT4 Prologue".

They say something about they changed their plan with GT HD. It also says that they will include some of the features that were planned for GT HD in GT5.

Press Release

Basically they canceled Gran Turismo HD as a stand-alone game and many elements of it are incorporated into GT5 of which release has been officially announced in the above PR too (no release date). Polyphony Digital chose to concentrate on the development of GT5.

Instead, they offer "Gran Turismo HD Concept" for free as a downloadable content on PLAYSTATION Store on Dec. 24. Apparently it's not the only one, Yamauchi says there'll be more concept versions to come before the release of GT5.

More info on GTHD Concept will come later.

Boogie down.

Funky. So GTHD is completely dead, we're now going to get multiple mini installments, for free, similar to GT Concept and GT4 Prologue.

Good, I'm happy with these mini installments/demo's to keep me going till GT5.

Although I don't mind paying for a Prologue style game based off GT5. (just like Prologue was for GT4)

Great news, but it looks like we'll only see Time Attack lap rankings as the "online mode".

Gran Turismo HD Concept content:
* 10 cars
* Course 1, Course 2
* Time Attack and Drift Trial modes
* Network ranking

* Course 1, Course 2
There is a problem with these automatic translators.:grumpy:

Google would translate "Recording course 1 course 2 layout" and that is missleadingly. - It should be "Recording course: 1 course, 2 layouts".

So it is not "course 1 course2". It's "1 course, 2 layouts".

I now have no reason to get a PS3 until GT5, great. Oh well, I'll just have to wait. *twiddles thumbs* :)

i polyphony could use this as a beta testing program almost :P like pc game developers release an open beta... and they ask people to report bugs... so then the full game comes out more polished.

Well done to PD/Sony for not trying to rip us off with another "stocking filler" game before the next installment. The promise of more than one of these releases does make it sound like they are using players as beta testers, which is fine, so long as they don't charge you for it. Folks don't mind helping to improve a game so long as they don't ahve to play for it.

Now I will wait until GT5 is released beofre I get that PS3, but at least there will be something in the way of a GT game/demo to play in the mean time for the early convertors.

hey guys,

just read the same on another page....i'm just wondering if the download will still be online when we get the ps3 released in march....any news about that so far??:)

Funky. So GTHD is completely dead, we're now going to get multiple mini installments, for free, similar to GT Concept and GT4 Prologue.

That idea is too narrow. PD have been full of surprises, over the years, so we could have a variation on the 13 one-brand, free GT4 demos we got earlier, or we could have a completely new scenario.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I think it's a smart move to make GT HD not a full game, but another reason is because there is no online mode for GT HD. However you got to remember GTHD was first planned not to be a full game, just a type of demo.

More details from Famitsu:
IGN
- The course is the all new Eiger Nordwand, and you'll be able to race it normal and reverse.

- The car list:
Suzuki Cappuccino '95
Mazda Eunos Roadster '89
Honda Integra Type R'04
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV GSR'96
Infinity G35 Coupe
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR'05
Lotus Elise 111R'04
Nissan Sky Liner GT-R V Spec II '94
Toyota Celica GT-FOUR Rally Car '95
Ferrari 599'06

- You start the demo off exclusively with the Cappuccino, but by clearing the time attack mode in a pre-set time, you'll be able to unlock the next car. Eventually, you'll unlock a drift trial mode.

- The demo will include Polyphony's next generation driving simulation engine. According to Yamauchi, this engine fixes such areas as drift control and drift angle.

- The demo won't have online races.

- The demo will offer network rankings separated according to the various cars. Replays from the top ranked players will be available for download.
