Pupik's EZ hybrid steps:
1. Get a Gameshark.
2. Find out your version GT2.
3. Understand the basecode stuff. Basecodes are the lines of code that determine the engine, car's weight, engine upgrades, bodys....all sorts of stuff.
4. Start the game. Put the car you want to "hybridize" in the 1st garage slot. Put it in the top of your garage and press Start on your controller.
5. Save your game.
6. Restart w/GS on.
7. Put in the codes.
8. Start game. (Note: some codes require the GS be temporarily off.)
9. Check the 1st garage slot....bingo!
10. If you want to change other cars with the exact same changes, just move it to the top slot. If you want to move other cars and use different codes...TURN THE GS OFF!
11. Save the game.
12. Go back to step 6 for more hybrids.

As for the actual codes, I am still searching for you (I have the file, but forget the site name). I remember finding some info from a dude named "Coldfire"...Very helpful!
Here's an example (for version 1.0), Oreca Viper engine:
801ccfcc 0053
If your car was normally-aspirated to begin with, check the garage and you'll see a car with a 690hp V10 engine. If the car was a turbo car (like a Skyline GTR), you'll get an annoying "UFO" noise.
There are codes to get around this noise, but the simple way (for those of us who have only 15 minutes to play GT2 at a time) is to use NA engines for cars designed for NA engines. Use turbo engines with turbo cars, too.
One last thing: You may not change the settings and still get the wanted results. Your car may not move, or just keep the original engine.
Get around this by:
1. Enter the race.
2. Change the settings.
3. Quit the race (without starting it).
4. Re-enter the race.
5. Immediately start the race (Don't touch the settings!).
Let me know if this works.
