Days 1-48.
Gold License passes for all tests.
Some nice prize cars to show off.
I had to work hard at IA8 this time round, dont Know why, but a 30 minute break seemed to work and got gold pass time shortly after.
Took about 12 hours all up.

Time trials followed. Very easy, got gold time on 6 first go, the others took only 3 goes apart from TT10 which I golded after 5 runs. Took about 2 hours.

Day 49 to 51. Completed the 3 Sunday cup races in non modified license test prize cars. Even forget to turn ASM and TCS off. Did you know the RX8 actually slows down in 6th gear at 130 kmh with full throttle. Not much torque in that standard engine.

Day 52 to 54. Completed the 3 Clubman cup races in non modified license test prize cars. Even forget to turn ASM and TCS off.

Day 55 to 57. Sell the AE86 and MX5 prize cars.
After discussions in another thread I decided to buy the Honda Accord type R.
Gave it an oil change and entered the Beginner FWD races. Won all three races in a close tussle with the Polo cup car.
Sold the Pitz and added parts to the Honda bought race exhaust, chip and WR 1.

Day 58 to 61 Took the Accord to the Beginner NA race and won those easilly.

Day 62
Sold the Honda CRX and added the NA2 and WR2.
Entered the Beginner Type R races for 5 easy wins. Good prize money and Sold the Acura type S for 75,000 credits.

Day 63.
Spent about 100K on the Accord, all the good bits.
Entered the Amateur type R championship and was really suprised at how easy these races were.
Won the Spoon S2000 which was sold.
Day 64 to 66.
Entered the 3 Amateur FWD races with the Accord and had three close wins. The last event the rubber banding the AI display was really evident in that the margin to second was consistantly 1.3 seconds accross the finish line even thou my lap times varied by about 2 seconds from best to worst.
Prize car was sold.
Day 66 to 68.
Entered the Amateur NA cup with Accord and won all the races by a big margin.
Day 69 Sold the Red RX8.
I now have over 200,000 credits.
Bought the Black Dodge Viper and T2 tires.
Bought T2 tires for the Accord also.
Day 69 to 71 Entered the Professional FWD race.
Three big race wins at all three tracks. This Accord handles nice.
I will go back and check power and weight and add them in latter.
Prize car Yellow Spoon which I have not sold yet.
Day 72. Change to the Viper and enter the PD Cup in Professional.
The competition were Lancer Evo 6 TME, Imprezza STI, R32 Skyline, RX7 RS & RX7 RZ.
First race got used to the Viper and drove easy. Pitted at lap 10 for fresh tires.
The two Rx7 were fighting over the minor places. Lapped the 3 other cars.
The Viper seems slow but actually is fairly easy to drive quick.
The next 9 events were a repeat of the first races except I did not pit for tyres until the last 3 races.
Won all ten races and won the Toyota GT-One race car which I am keeping.
I am now have over a million credits.
Not bad going for only 41 races.
I will take some notes for the rest of the game so I can fill out the story with some fastest lap times etc.

Wish I'd kept a full diary of my quest to win every car in the game, and drive every car in the game before hitting 100%. (2nd time round! Doing it all in MT this time, having already done it in AT. And this time, the F1 cars have only been used for Formula GT races, each one has 900plus miles on from running the complete series, start to finish!!!) Call me a masochist, but its kept my appetite whet until GT4 finally materialises!

Day 73:
I bought a black MR2 GTS and added LW1, race exhaust and race chip. Also added new oil. Power is at 279 BHP. ASM set to 0 and TCS set to 0. Manual used with the PS2 hand controller.

Enter the Beginner MR race at Trial mountain.

I started the race from last place feeling my new purchase will be up to the job at hand. Gained the lead by the first corner and drove easily for the rest of the race.

Day 76.
I will gradually upgrade the car as I go, this time I added the following parts while visiting the Tune up shop.
LW2, racing intercooler, racing suspension, triple clutch and racing flywheel.
I attempted to enter the Spider and roadster cup but had a message saying my car did not comply. I then went and checked entry and only MR2 was shown so I guess the GTS is excluded.

Entered the Beginner Turbo race at Mid Field II.
Started from last and got to first by the tunnel. Stayed there.

I was worried about top speed with standard Gearbox so I added the full race tranny and stage 1 turbo.
Power went to 356 BHP. P/W 3.174 and T/W 0.265. Mass 1130 kg.

Entered the Beginner Turbo race at Test track.
Set the auto set on tranny up to 29 and entered race from last. Top speed was 294 before the rev limiter cut in. I should have set it to 32.

Used the set up as for test track. Started race from last. I passed the 3000 GT under brakes at the first corner. The AI seem to get a boost at this race as the 3000 GT stayed close behind. I should have dropped auto set down a notch or 2 to maximise acceleration.

Day 95. The only car in black I can buy for the K cup is the Suzuki Alto Works. I take my newly purchased Alto to the parts shop and add the stage 1 turbo. A oil change is also purchased.
Enter race 1 of the Beginner Lightweight K class race at Trial Mountain.
Started from 6th place and took 1 lap to work my way up to first place. Best to take one car at a time and pass under corner entry as the AI are equal on the straights.

Day 97 Race 3 at Laguna Seca.
From memory this is a close race with the 90 HP I have so I qualified in first place.
My memory proved correct with the AI passing me on the straights and me repassing them at the tighter turns. The AI dont handle the corkscrew that well.
I failed to record the AI lap times but I was first in a time of 3'53.102 and my best lap was 1'51.771.

The Bonus car was sold. (Mini Cooper).
 
Day 98.
I will be entering the Beginner GT World Championship in the Black MR2 GTS.
First off I go to the tune shop and add LW3, brake balance controller, sports brakes, port polish, engine balance and a oil change.
Power has gone to 378 and weight down to 1079 kg. This should be ample.

Car needs some work on suspension as it seems a little nervous.

Time to go shopping for a soft top.
The Mercedes SLK 230 looks like a good choice, and I can use it in the Silver Arrow races as well. It is a car I have never spent much time in so I am unsure of its capabilities.
I buy a black one and give it a oil change for 195 hp.

Day 104 enter the Beginner Silver Arrow race at Rome Reverse.

Started from 6th place feeling confident after the previous race.
I am into 3rd place after 2nd turn. The 2 CLK55 pull away from me down the long straight. I cose up to them under braking for the next corners. I pass 3rd place on the 90 degree left hander before the tight left at the coblestones. I pulled level with the lead CLk55 on the double right corner but can not pass. He pulls away by a car length and the 3rd place CLK is closing at the end of the main straight. I brake earlier than the lead AI into the hard left and challange for the lead. I am able to use my cars better handling to take the lead at the next left hander. I notice in my rear view mirror both CLK55 hit the wall on exiting this corner and lose time. I pull away all lap and never challanged again.
This was a close race for the first lap.

Day 107. Beginner 80's Sports Car race at Seattle.

The AI S.S. Trueno has got some speed and challanges all the way for the closest race yet. I start from 6th place on the grid and am 3rd exiting the chicane. I move past the RX7 at the next left hander and start to chase the SS Trueno, gaining u the hill and under brakes. The SS brakes late and runs wide at every tight turn and lets me close the gap. I pass inside him at the left hander before the downhill run and pull away. He again closes the gap at the chicane as I drive a cautious lap with him closing the gap as I take a slow safe line through the remaining bends. He draws level at the last hairpin bend but my twin turbos Kick in and I pull away slightly to the finish line for a hard earned win.

Day 108.
I need a black car for the Beginner Beetle Cup. I buy the VW New Beetle in black. The AI in this race has always been Beetle cup cars so I need to see what they are. Check the Stats in the VW dealer and it says FWD 3.2 V6 with 201 BHP and 1170 kg.
To the tune shop to add some parts and take of weight. I buy WR1 & 2, race exhaust, race chip, NA1, port polish, engine balance, semi racing suspension, twin clutch, semi racing flywheel, full race transmission, T2 tires and an oil change. Power came to 200 bhp and weight to 1117 kg.

Beginner Beetle Cup Race 1. Rome Circuit
I start from 6th to see how my car performs. The AI pull away at the start and have a several car length lead at the end of the straight. I slowly make up places on the corners taking one car at a time. I reach the lead by the start of the long back straight only to be passed by the AI 3/4 of the way along. He is easily passed on the next right hand bend. I drive a clean 2nd lap and the AI disapear from view. I think my car will provide some close racing in the next 4 races.

I Qualify and gain poll by 4.901 seconds with a lap of 2'15.309. The AI pull away at the start and I drop to 3rd.I pass 2nd and 1st at the hairpin and make up ground at each corner only for the AI to pull back time on the longish straights. I make a small mistake exiting the tunnel and loose a few tenths but my lead is nnot threatend. The AI improve by about 3 seconds compared to their qualifying time.

I Qualify and gain poll by 1.031 seconds with a lap of 1'52.530. I lowered my gearing and had a better start only dropping 1 spot which was quickly regained. The lead swapped places going up the hill and I stayed behind him till the left hander before the down hill run. As allways the AI brake to late and run wide here letting me slip past on the inside. The AI again close the gap on the straight s but struggle on corners...............

Beginner Beetle Cup Race 4. Test Track
The race I was dreading Qualify and get second which should allow me to pick up the draft. The lead swapped places as the cars drafted into the lead at about 250 kmh and then dropped back as the extra resistance slowed them done. Picked up about 13- 15 kmh speed with the draft. Towards the end of the back straight I drafted the lead AI and pulled out into the lead and then blocked him all the way to the finish with the AI nudged up on my back bumper for the closest of wins by 0.071 seconds. However says the test track is dull is using to fast a car.

Go to setting and reset the tranny, Qualify first with a 1'55.655 by 2.777 seconds. I dropped to 3rd of the line and regained 2nd place at the left hander at the top of the hill. The lead car took a wide line at the hairpin bend and I slipped past him on the inside and lead for the rest of the race.

I qualify but only manage 5th place with a 2'09.932. The AI have the edge on that long straight. Start from 5 th and maintain it till the first turn where I pass into 4th. I stay in 4th for the rest of lap 1 I draft a tightly spaced top 3 all the way along the straight and am at striking distance at T1. Pass 2nd and 3rd and am trailing first by about 0.6 seconds. I gradually reduce the gap and am able to pass him at the last turn. I have good exit speed and pull away from him at the start of the straight. The AI are quickly closing the gap But I have enough in hand to win by a small amount.

Day 110. Go to the Mazda garage and buy the Cheapest MX-5 on the lot, a nice black 1.8 with pop up headlights. Got the dealer to add gold BBS wheels with sport tires and an oil change. The 128 bhp jumps to 132 with the oil change.

Enter the Roadster Endurance race.
Start from 6th and move to 3rd place at the end of lap 1 which was 1'55.151. Pass 2nd place car on lap 2. Lap time was 1'45.090 and am 9.065 seconds behind the AI 1.8i being driven on soft tires with a 3 lap pit strategy.
I go to first place as the 1.8i pits.
I am running low 1'45 laps for the next few laps until lap 7 when my front right goes orange. Looks like I will be running a 4 pit stop race pitting every 8 laps.
The 1.8i retakes the lead as I pit and I come out 2nd. I retake the lead at the start of lap 10 as the AI 1.8i pits again. Lead is never lost till the end of the race.
At lap 15 I lead by 34 seconds.
Lap 24 the lead is 45 seconds.
I lap positions 5 and 6 lap 29.
The lead at lap 30 was 55 seconds.
I lap 4 th on lap 37 and then lap 3rd next lap.
Fastest lap is set at lap 39 with a 1'43.906.
Finish the race 1'32.693 ahead of 2nd place.
I pitted at the end of lap 8, 16, 24 and 32.

Day 111. Buy some hard T2 tires for the MR2 GT-ST and enter the Amateur MR race at Toyko R246 Reverse.
Started the race from 6th and pass the Clio Sport early lap 1. The car feels terrible with the T2 tires cold but improves as they warm up. I pass the NSX on lap 2 and then start chasing the lead ZZS. Move into third place when the Elise pits lap 3. The motor sport Elise pits lap 4 and I move up to second. I pass the ZZS on lap five to gain the lead, I have to drive well to fight off a fast finishing Elise that came back well after pitting on lap 3. The elise made up 20 seconds in two laps when he should have only made up 6 seconds. Another race with catch up. I will need to improve suspension to get a bit more grip with the T2 tires.
What suprised me was my fastest lap was 2 seconds faster than when I used the same car with medium tires at the same track on day 79 race 5. The Clio pits twice.

Nice time in this car/tyre combo too! That's about as quick as I got too, just checked back through that thread, and I posted 1:11'54.xxx, shame I didn't keep a note of the fractions, wonder just how close we were?

*Edit* Actually, I just noticed that you did the oil change, mine was without. Started at 128HP and finished 98mile race at 130HP. Still mighty fine going though!!!
 
Uncle Harry, the trick to driving the MR2 fast is learning to control it entirely with the gas. I find I make the fastest time with the car when I barely steer at all, on any corner, and just manage the turn and rotation with the gas. MR2s are extremely responsive to anychange in the throttle. I drive it exclusively on T2 tires; you just get use to the slippery feel it has. I find my self braking and turning in sooner on the MR2, but being able to get on the gas much faster than with FR cars. However, I usually have an amazingly small drift angle at the end of a turn. Entry goes like this for a left turn, like the turn between the first and second tunnel on Grand valley - brake, start turn it with light braking, let off brake, straighten steering out under neutral gas, begin to give the car gas near apex, slowly counter steer out of corner while on gas. Rarely do a I smoke the tires when I am serious... its a fun car.
 
Azuremen, I am blaming my settings more than the car, I agree 100% with what you say. I was probably overdriving that race due to the speed of the AI and that slowed me down.

Day 112. Amateur MR race at Deep Forest reverse.

Spent some qualifying time tuning the suspension, Softened the sway bars by 1, stiffened the springs a fraction and droped the dampers to 6. My changes made the car better. I Started the race from second position behind the Motor Sport Elise. The lead swaped several times until the MS Elise pitted on lap 4.
