gt4 car customization

I've heard that they have thought about it, but because they would have to design all the body kits, spoilers, etc. for all 500 or so cars they may not. There is no decision for sure though. At least that I know of.

lets hope they dont make it like NFSU and i doubt it just because of the qauntity of cars, all that really matters is they improve the AI and not have boring races that can be won easily, and yes im pretty sure they'll make other things customizable, i doubt kits though

SR20DET is correct, for proof all you really need to do is play gt2 and see how many cars do not have racing modifications. I don't think you should choose your front bumper, rear bumber or what not in GT, leave that for NFS underground. I do however seriously hope that racing modification has been put back in and KY has stated that SOME cars will have extireor modifications, so im thinking thats racing modifications similar to GT2.

Yes i also missed racing mod. I remember when i had purchased my miata and gone to the tune shop just to see what it would look like in racing paint and what not... all to be let down and dazed....i was looking in all the parts sections for racing modifications..including the oil and wheels parts

I hated when cars didn't have racing modifications, too.
I liked the cars that had color choices and different design choices for the modification.

Bring them race mods back, insteadof customising the body work maybe have a larger choice of race mods, I don't see that hapening due to time though but maybe in GT5 we'll be able to choose from 3 or 4 different race mods for each/some car/s.

License issues?

Give me a break. If a run down company like Capcom can pull big time names with the likes of HKS, GReddy, Endless, etc. Then Polyphony should have no problem.

Excuses aside, I would definitely like to see something other than a makes "in-house tuner" supplying the parts.

Theres no problem with that on certain cars, but some cars like the Aston V8 Vantage, Aston might not want you knocking a body kit onto it, it's at the point where certain cars are ok, others arn't It's like damage, some companies say , do what you want to the cars like Cheverolet, others say they don't want to see even a scratch on them, then you get to companies that say yes you can damage this car and this one, but we don't want to see that one getting damaged.

Good point, but bad example - not only are there racing V8 Vantages knocking about, but Aston Martin are famous for their after-sales service. They will do just about anything to any car the customer wants.

I can imagine companies like Mercedes getting pissy about it. You just try and change the wheels in GT2.

Yeah, bad example. I haven't seen a racing V8 Vantage, I've seen racing Virage's which are very similar, check the pic.

Wowser... Looks to me like someone spent £60,000 on a V8 Virage, but wanted a Speed 12. That's some serious modification.

Any chance of linking the ricers to this with a note "This is how it should be done, kids"? :D

I think racing modifications are the only way to go with a choice of wheels. About the only way this could be furthered is a choice of colour like we have seen previously. Anything further than that would be a nightmare for 500+ cars.

There is no need to give all "500+ cars" additional modifications.

And is there a *confirmed number of cars that will be available?

NO, but PD have confirmed that GT4 will contain more cars than ANY previouse GT game, which means more than 600 cars which is roughly what PD said was in GT2.

Thats the DB700 GT, believe it or not ;) . Famine I'm appaled you didn't know that :P . It's only breifly raced in some minor GT championships like the Brit GTs and other minor ones. Wasn't too succesful. Very short racing career. I was looking for the DB700 GT (I had seen a mention of it some where and never knew what it was) and it took me ages to find it, but I found some pictures of it. I thought it looked like a V8 Vantage, but I'm told it's not :) . I forgot who but, it was some personalised special a racing team did.

I can only vaguely tell that it's a car. If it didn't have wheels, I'd have thought it was a speedboat...

DB700 GT? everywhere I've seen it including the site the pic came from calls it the V8 Virage GT. Heres the specs for it when it was built and raced, it was run by privateers.
Year 2000

And HE says Vantage... (with a Virage engine)

The cabin starts, and ends, too far back to be a DB7 of any variety.

In this picture of a DB7, the junction of A-pillar and roof is exactly half way down the length of the car.

In this picture it's nearer 5/8ths of the length from the front. And check where the C-pillar meets the body...

Yeah funnnil;y enough that link you've just posted is the one I'm looking at, at the mo (in other words I was lookiung at it before you posted it). Maybe where I initially saw it they got the name of it wrong :odd:  . Cos, the info I initially got on it ages ago, did mention it was a project of David Ellis's....:odd: . Anywayz, shame it never did really race, but I know that Aston are going to take the new DB9 to LeMans in....2005 and I think.:)

I've heard that too, lets hope the DB9 makes a great race car.

The racing mods should cosist of more then one style and colour choice like in gt2 cars like some skylines had 2 styles and 3 colour choices in them, i just want racing mod back

Agreed, I would love to have the "racing mod" function back, but i also like the idea of custom body panels (body kits), that had been talked about by the GT4 creators recently. I think this would give it much more depth, especially if the aerodynamics of the different panels, was to come into play. Apart from the obvious, visual enhancements, that would also benifit. ;)

Bring back the Racing Mods:lol:

I think it would be cool if you can add your own decals, car numbers and be like your own racing team.
