GT4 NTSC-PAL Game conversion

Since the PAL conversion of Gt4 apparently hasn't even been started yet
I am lookijg for a reliable, legal way to convert an US (NTSC) version of GT4 to run on a PAL PS2. I do not have a modchip, and those are illegal anyway and nero vision is out of the question too for the above reason.

Is there any cd or something that does the job?

GT4 has been started and is well on it's way. There is no point setting your ps2 up for NTSC as it will only be a couple of weeks ahead.

I dont think he wants to wait till march to play GT4, and is counting on GT4 NTSC to be released this year.

*edit* I am a bit late

Not to insult you, but the 2nd month of a year is february, but i imagine if you add a delay to february you're looking at March or april, and let's face it there WILL be a delay...

lol you have to laugh at somethings...

Gran Turismo 4

Look at that date: 18/06/2003. so if it comes out when they say it will in europe (which it won't) then that will be a whopping 618 day delay!!! WOW!!

This delay lost my intrest in GT4. It's really sad.
Well , 3-4 months of wait is too long , maybe I won't buying GT4 :(

the release dates that my local shop (AUS) has listed and a few others ive seen have been 30/03/2005. I assume EU would be about the same as they have been with other PAL titles.

BTW at the time of the post I made I didnt see your release date of 25/02/05.

Tha's even better , *ummmmm*

You know, this is far fetched, but i can see PD just moving GT4 over to the PS3, which can actually handle the higher graphical prowess and data etc. Maybe this delay is intentional...

As a guy on amazon says,
Too bad that SCEA decided to INTENTIONALLY delay this game to extend the life of the PS2 console one more Xmas period.
We, avid GT fans have had to pay for this by wating.. and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting....
That's why not matter HOW GOOD IT IS... IT IS NOT WORTH THE WAIT !!!!!!
I hope someone delivers a similar game and we al bai out.. heck I am even considering changing consoles just for revenge.
Of course the fame will be good, but I rate dit as 1 star becaus as a Sony Playstation costumer I feel fooled, I feel used heck I don't feel.. I am SURE SCEA is playing with me.

Lol, seems some people are even more impatient than we are!!!

Modchips are illegal? I heard the opposite, at least here they're not. Are they really illegal in the UK?

They are not illegal. The only this is illeagl is to sell pirated game , I guess.

Oh well i heard that in august modchips were made illegal in the US and the EEC (that counts the UK)

Better check it up then, I believe they're perfectly legal in the EC, and since it is allowed to discuss console modding here at GTP they should be legal in the US too.

Modchips are kind of like guns, the object itself is not what is illegal, only the things some people do with them.

To answer your original question, I don't think it's possible to play one type of game on another type of system. The biggest difference is, of course, the frame-rate. PAL runs at 50i, NTSC at 60i. And at a different resolution. You'd have to reprogram the game itself in order to get it to run properly, I don't think a mod-chip can make that kind of change. It works for Japanese games in America, but both of those are NTSC, the differences are actually quite minor otherwise.

You could always buy a US Playstation 2. A little expensive, but you could be the first person on your block to get a lot of US PS2 releases.

As far as I know mod chips are pretty much illegal everywhere....Aus news
UK news
I assume it is all Europe now. As for the US....I'm not sure..

Oh well, it's illegal. Not in Sweden yet, anyway, since registered companies are advertising the service here, no need to go to the black market yet..

I am seriously considering that as there are other games that I could get earlier. But I am also thinking of getting an X-Box....and I can't afford both!

Bugger it.... :grumpy:

PS. Power adapters cost between £30 and £60. As for TV's nearly all modern sets can take an NTSC signal. Mine certainly can. But there are probs with importing. A PS2 may cost say £130 for importing but chances are you'll have to pay duty and customs charges AND possibly Post Office handling charges on top of that. It ain't cheap..... :ouch:

Admittedly yes, but is it really worth spending all that money for just a couple of months difference? a lot of games i dont buy until longer than that after they are out, so they're cheaper!! Obviously with GT4 that will be an exception, but the price of a PS2 is a bit steep for that, plus nowhere in the US seems to offer international delivery besides gyppo places like chips&bits who charge you about $50 for it...

Or you could just wait politely for it to come to your region.

I'd have to stay far far away from this forum then, with all the people playing GT4 for like 3 months going on and on about how good it is and asking for drift settings for the AE86. **** that, i'll be waiting for my Japanese copy to arrive in the mail thankyouverymuchos. Oh and GT4 from www.lik-sang.com is about £37 with free shipping, which is less than the UK RRP will be anyway.

Yeah i wouldn't be able to take that. Oh and may I ask race idiot, how you're converting the game to run on your ps2? a modchip? if so which one and where and how!!!!

Mines been chipped since summer last year and the site that did it has now stopped supplying the chipping service. I've got a Messiah 2, that manages to play DVD-9 games so it should (it better) cope with GT4. I could probably get one chipped using the friend of a friend method, but that's only a last resort if my current PS2 spontaneously combusts.
