I've seen a few threads on the forum about this and many answers in them were very misleading. It is effectively possible to view GT5 3D Photomode pictures (.MPO files) on the 3DS in 3D, you just need the right software and a few minutes.

First you will need StereoPhotoMaker:

http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/

It's a one-file executable so i HIGHLY recommend keeping it on your 3DS' SD card permanently as it can be useful in other circumstances.

It's a wonderful program with lots of features and no ads or other BS.

You might also want to use this registry tweak that will enable windows to display thumbnails on .MPO files. pick the right one for your version of windows.

(note: Firefox will add an extension to the .reg file just remove the additional extension so that the file is a .reg one then run it.)

Take some 3D pics in photomode and place them in one of the existing photo folders on your 3DS SDCard. Rename them all to HNI_nnnn.mpo where nnnn are numbers. Like this:

At this point the files are not yet compatible with the 3DS.

Right-click a picture and select "open with"

Check the "always use this software to open this type of file" box

Browse to the stereophotomaker executable "stphmkre.exe" (i personally leave it on the 3DS sd card) and click "open"

The picture will then be opened in StereoPhotoMaker

Click File then click "Save .MPO File" in the list
Check the "for nintendo 3DS" button and save and overwrite the file.

(You may or may not check the "resize to 640x480" box, i personally don't beacause i think the quality is slightly better like this, however, checking it will make pictures load slightly faster in the 3DS)

You're done! pop the SD back into the 3ds, the picture library will refresh after a moment and your GT5 photo will appear.

Enjoy!
